  How dishonest is this?

  today i was reading the feb 15, 2003 watchtower, they quote volume 6 of "studies in the scriptures", "the new creation" written by c.t.

  russell in 1904. there was an asterisk next to the "studies in the scriptures", know what the footnote said?

  "published by jehovah's witnesses but now out of print.

  As you are well aware, the part of the "Studies..."

  quoted, does not exactly say what the partial and

  very small quote on "The Watchtower" writes.

  Those who read one /two pages - before - and

  after the quoted page, will see the real difference.

  Again, deception and lies, as usual, from the WTBS Inc.

  way by the WTBS.

  Read all th einteresting comments, and finally I do agree with your

  well phrased conclusion:

  well i got me a copy of the new wt 2001 cd rom, and started looking at it and learning how to use it.. this was the very first thing i stumbled across, which was a thing that always bothered me.

  those of you who saw me and watched my phases as i left will remember that this topic was a major issue for me.. .

  Imho, Maverick gave a great answer:

  while the wts is very proud to trot out its stats now, it is like mining for diamonds to find the stats before 1935. here is what i found.. 1914 18,243 attendance.

  1917 21,274 attendance.

  1935 63,146 attendance (52,456 pubs; 56,153 partakers).

  the Lord's evening meal:

  YEAR 1923.........................42,000 " ;

  YEAR 1924........................ 62,696 " ;

  YEAR 1925........................90,434 " (g)

  These total attendance figures earth-wide do not count in groups of less than

  20 celebrators of the Lord' s evening meal, excepting some foreign reports. "

  thanks for the figures.

  The book "Jehovah's witnesses in the divine purpose " has:

  (page 50) Memorial attendance - incomplete - for the year 1915 ....15,430

  (page 73) " " " for the year 1918......21,274

  (page 73) " "-according to a partial report - without all foreign

  lands included, attendance figures were for the Memorial April 13th ,1919

  a total of 17,961. " The book then adds:" ...it becomes evident that far less

  than 4,000 had ceased to associate with their former faithful associates.(x)

  (x) Footnote w. 1917 p.157; w. 1919 p. 151 .-

  I do hope that this will be useful.
