Presiding Overseer - is this a permanent position ?

can anyone tell me if the "position" of presiding overseer is one which changes every few years or is it now a "life time position".

my old congregation has recently had a visit from the co and the po appears to have been removed - could be very interesting :).

I’m glad that the information can prove useful to you.

Btw what they did in your congregation, ahs become quite

common use in Europe.

The BoE, in many cases, even if the brother/sister did not

dissociate by words or by letter, the fact that they refused

or just did not go to ‘ judicial hearings’ or even ‘ meeting with the

local elders’ would be a valid and sufficient reason to

‘announce ‘ to the congregatioin that “… brother/sister has

dissociated himself/herself from the congregation’.

You know the result…complete shunning and even label

of …apostasy, …serious sins etc. etc.

All this in the name of Jehovah and Jesus Christ…but the true

Reason is that many dared to ask…questions that unmask the

dealings of the mighty WTBS Inc..

The witnesses in Sweden are in panic!!!

yesterday, swedens most famous journalist jan josefson, disclosed a pedofile scandal within jehovahs witness churches in sweden.

the show "mission review" was a one hour long execution of the "elderly organisation" within the churches and was really devastating for the witnesses and the chuch in general.

we who saw the show are now convinced that jehovahs witnesses in sweden now better hide themselves than seek new members, because what we saw was both disgusting as well as heartbreaking.

I do agree with you …they avoid to give precise and definite answers.

From "The Watchtower " 1960 July 15 th , pages 438-9 paragraph 2:

“ Just as the early Christian congregation collectively

served as the channel of communication from heaven

to earth, so in our time. (Eph. 3:10) Abundant spiritual

food and amazing details as to the doing of God's will have

been flowing through this unique channel actually as a

miraculous evidence of the operation of holy spirit. "

From "The Watchtower " 1981 December 1 st , page 27

“Jehovah God has also provided his visible organization,

his "faithful and discreet slave," made up of spirit-anointed

ones ... Unless we are in touch with this channel of

communication that God is using, we will not progress

along the road to life, no matter how much Bible reading we do."

From "The Watchtower" 2001 August 1 st , page 14, paragraph 8th

“Rather, he has complete confidence in the truth

as it is revealed by Jehovah God through his

Son, Jesus Christ, and “the faithful and discreet slave. "

As you can see, in these quotes the WTBS Inc. mentions:

“channel of communication “;

“revealed by Jehovah God”;

“flowing through this unique channel;

“miracolous evidence”;

“channel of communication from heaven to earth”.

So what is left out is the mode/instrument/mean

to transmit/send/give/impart the actual communication.

Just as …a bit of personal reasoning.

From the WTBS Inc. official figures and statistics,

published yearly on “The Watchtower” for the year

1978, the number of “anointed remnant” is given

as a total of ……………………………….…………...9,762 members;

25 years later, for the year 2002, the total is …………8,760 members.-

Therefore , in 25 years the total, number of the “anointed remnant”

has decreased of ….1,002 members.

At this kind of annual declining rate, it will take a total of 218,50 years for all the actual “anointed remnant” members to “leave this earthly abode”….!

I believe that something is wrong…maybe it is only my reasoning!

these few line to add that ...for the rest

Gopher information is correct and updated.

"Whenever an elder is removed, an announcement is

made to the congregation simply stating that "Brother XXXX is

no longer serving as an elder." If he is being disfellowshipped,

then they will add that or maybe just read the DF'ing announcement.

That way the congregation knows to expect a replacement

(if one hasn't already been announced)."
