All one could do is laugh when running into JW's who think that people like us our evil. I think it is all very silly and they need to pick up a book (not JW literature) and get an education. They are just so out of line it is unbelievable.

Anyone here have any experience with the "super-natural"?
by Knowsnothing inand if so, would that prove an existence of evil-spirits (demons)?.
i have heard of a couple of stories of possession, or of jw's talking to spiritists and the spiritists having seen 2 men following the jw, either dressed all in black, or all in white, and very strong looking.
yet, i have never experienced any of it.. another experience that i heard is about a brother whose mom had super-natural strength, and tossed something really heavy.

What drove you? Love or Fear?
by fade_away inthis has probably been discussed here before, but i'm new so sue me.. i think the religion of jehovah's witnesses has been an amazing but tragic social experiment proving that the mind is most vulnerable to brainwashing when it's in an unhealthy state.
it seems to attract the bipolar, schizophrenic, depressive, and the paranoid.
it preys on negative emotions like sorrow and fear.

I remember being five and I just had this strong urge to get up from my seat while the meeting was going and to say out, "I don't like this and I want no part of this. I want nothing to do with any of this. I can think for myself." I really could not believe that I recalled a memory of me sitting in the seat at 5 and daydreaming about saying this to nearly 130 JW. Of course I imagined I would have to run my little 5 year old butt out of the KH before they caught me and possibly beaten in public for it. I really had no love for any of it. At 5 I just knew it was not right for me in any way. I would sit though out the meeting thinking of ways to run away from the U.S. and hide in Europe just because I would never want to be found and dragged back to that place. I just felt like I was dying a little by little everyday.

The super natural is a big interest of mine. Often I like to look at it in a scientific way. But this I had to learn to do or I would never lead a normal life. I spent 20 years being afraid of things that I could not see. The first reason for this is because of what we are taught. But secondly I had a lot of weird things happen to me. Even after I left weird things have happened that I just can't explain but I can't give into saying it is demonic activity. I really have no clue because it can be a variety of things. A human can simply be haunted by their own memories, or the brain may be more powerful than we assume, negative/positive energy that comes from the deceased, energy lines, faulty wiring, enviromental features, ghosts, demons, different dimensions, the list just goes on... There is something there and that I can't deny. But I think the JW have a tendency to just name things without further investigation. This is harmful thinking because it does not allow for the truth to ever be discovered.
I had the worst attacks with the super natural when I was living at home with my mom and was still a JW. I would have demonic/violent nightmares. Sometimes after these night mares where I would be attacked by a spirit creature, I would wake up with bruises and cuts. Also I had many cases of being locked in a room somehow, objects flying off the shelf (especially when I was upset), and feelings of someone watching me. Could all that had happened to me be caused by my own demise? I think humans do not realize that our brains are really strong. It is our brains that have changed this Earth. But does it have more power than just a thinking function? Could it do more? These are things we do not know. Maybe those attacks in my dream was my own spirit trying to convince me that I was in danger. Maybe it would not allow me to have peace until I decided to leave what was hurting me. After I left the truth almost all of it went away. The only time the nightmares come back is if something is wrong in my life that I refuse to acknowledge and leave. Once I leave the abuse everything goes back to being the same. No more nightmares. I have had no flying objects in the house, no getting locked into rooms like I did, and no more physical bruises from my nightmares. The only thing I experience now is knowing more than I should. That scares me a bit because too many things I have known or seen and only to find out it came true a day or so later.
We may never find out the truth of it all but I know that if some of us are really open to the subject we may have an idea someday of what all this super natural stuff is all about.

My Aunt called me the other day but I have not called her back yet since she left a message. I'm sure when I call her back she will be asking, "Sylla are you going to the memorial?" I usually come up with an excuse like I have to work or something. My mom and the rest of my siblings gave up on me a long time ago. They know to not even bother because I will just disappoint them with my answer. As with my father he passed away 4 years back but even then he finally stopped because I told him I would never go back to that place and those people and that I am too smart to be told how to think. So he was wasting his breath in trying and that he should be used to the fact that when Armaggedom comes I will be wiped out. Even though I do not believe in that so called fate for this world. I told my mom the same thing as well and I guess it passed through out most of the family. I've said the same to my Aunt but she just refuses to believe it. She says I am a good girl that fell of the right track . One day she hopes I will marry a good man in the "truth" instead of wasting my time on pagan men like I do. I wonder what she thought of my disfellowshipped ex-boyfriend!?

Fear drove me to serve. I knew if I did not comply with my mom I would be beaten, have my hair grabbed, and forced into a dress. There was no point in arguing but when I was sick I would argue and that is when I would get beaten into going.
When I think about what drove my family into this way of life is my grandma suffers clinincal depression, my mom stayed because she can't think for herself and needs someone to tell her the next step (also lives off of making everyone happy but herself), and my dad grew up poor and abused and learned that he could not trust so he was paranoid. They already had disorders of some sort and the children that came out of this whole lifestyle became dysfunctional from years decades of JW teaching. So I believe my family stuck to this due to fear, lack of education, and some source of hope.

I am a Cancer and I am with a Taurus :) Works out well for us. When I am down he is there to lift me up and pull me out of the deep end of the water.
