  For me it was the hypocrisy and corruption I saw. And the higher up you looked the worse it got. If only the average dub knew what really goes on behind the closed doors of an elders meeting!

  JW's stand up and say how they are "God's Chosen People" but they're no better than any other church. Worse even.

  I can remember when I reached the point of feeling that I could no longer be a part of the lies and double-standards. So I "faded away." And how much did "Jehovah's loving people" care????

  apparently sometime in the 1980s a congregation in south-east melbourne had half its publishers resign due to those publishers reading apostate literature.. true?.

  The story of the bomb in the KH was true, but I don't think that's the reason they don't have windows. Here in NZ they built a few halls without windows but I always thought it was for security in high crime areas. It was a phase that didn't last long though, most halls here do have windows.

  Lurker....wants expert assistance (question)

  i got a couple of lurkers emailing to me at the moment!.

  anyway.... one of them has a question and we need the input of a boffin like alan f, or jt.. elderly lady, just got df,after 40 years of service, wants to know, now shes df, will the org still take her money that shes bequeathed to them in her will.?.

  does she need to change her will to prevent the org from gettings its clammy claws on her bucks.?.

  Greeting A New Neighbor

  here's the scenario and i need advise on how to handle this.

  .. i found out this afternoon that a former jw and obvious apostate has moved in two houses down from me.

  while i didn't know he or his wife when i was a jw, another friend of mine advised me of their arrival in the neighborhood.. should i:.

  Definitely invite them over for a meal and make friends with them. If they've only recently been DF'd they may not have many friends and may be desperately lonely.

  at one time, this board seemed to be fair.

  but i no longer think that it is, to jws, at least.

  ex-jws here can cuss, insult, say fu to everybody they don't like, and call jws pedophiles.

  The Bible urges God's people to speak that which is holy. So I do not believe that filthy speech is befitting a Christian. That is what I meant.

  I am of the mind that what emanates from a man's mouth is a reflection of what he is inwardly.

  
  So a JW going from door-to-door telling lies to innocent people and deceiving them with a false hope of everlasting life is OK, but a few "colourful" words is "not befitting a Christian"

  When I was in the Borg I used to hypocritically dismiss people simply because they swore. Since leaving I have learned to stop judging people on such a superficial basis. Swearing (or "cussing" as you call it) is NOT the measure of what someone is on the inside. Far from it in fact.

  Since this a "New XJW" thread I thought I'd post as well.

  I understand completely how you feel Buffy. I've been out of the Borg for about 3 yrs now and it hasn't been easy. It takes a while to get over the Borg way of thinking and the huge guilt trip they use to control you. This is a good place to come though. Lots here who understand.
