  i am sending this letter via email to both my local hospital and to several doctors (different version) who have occasion to treat my immediate family.. i thought that i would post such on the db so that others here could also do the same.

  however, i would ask that you do not completely duplicate the letter, in the event that the same hospital or same doctor receive this more than once, and discard it as a hoax.

  please take the time to change some of the wording, and personalize it to your own circumstances.. i will post any received replies, and i ask that others please do the same.. *****************************************.

  for those who are interested in "actually doing something" in the fight against the wts, other than posting to dbs, here is a recent us court opinion which does a good job of explaining that us homeowners have the legal right to forbid solicitors (including jws) from entering their private property, including explaining all the constitutional and legal issues.

  although this case deals with an newspaper/advertising distributor, jws and "freedom of religion" are also addressed by this lengthy opinion.

  it is well worth the read for anyone interested in fighting the wts using this avenue.. ... http://www.cmcnyls.edu/public/uscases/tillman.htm.

  For those US Residents here who are not deadasses and are interested in causing the WTS trouble and aggravation, the recent Court decision cited below outlines a plan of attack which would likely work well in smaller municipalities.

  This 2001 US Appeals Court decision
  allows a Municipality to require the following of all door-to-door solicitors/canvassers, including JWs:

  1. Register with the Office of the Mayor by filling out a Registration Form.

  2. The Registration Form requires the individuals to furnish information about their cause, why they are canvassing, how long they intend to canvass, and any "other information concerning the Registrant[s] and [their] business or purpose as may be reasonably necessary to accurately describe the nature of the privilege desired."

  (Jehovah's Witnesses need only "note on the application that they seek to canvass as part of the Jehovah's Witnesses.)

  3. Once the individuals have registered, they "shall be furnished a Solicitation Permit" (NO FEE REQUIRED) unless the Mayor determines that they (1) failed to complete the Registration Form, (2) provided fraudulent information on the form, (3) made false or fraudulent statements or misrepresentations while canvassing, (4) violated any other local, state, or federal laws, (5) trespassed while canvassing, or (6) ceased to possess the qualifications required to obtain a Solicitation Permit.

  (NOTE #4 and #5 carefully. IF THE JWs MESS UP AND CALL AT A HOME WHERE THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED, THEY COULD LOOSE THEIR PERMIT, AS WELL AS BE CRIMINALLY FINED.)

  4. Upon obtaining a permit, the canvassers may canvass any private residence in the Village ONLY DURING DAYLIGHT HOURS (THERE GOES EVENING WITNESSING DURING FALL & WINTER), provided the owner of the residence has not filed a No Solicitation Form with the Mayor's Office and has not posted a No Solicitation Sign on his property.

  (A list of willing Village residents is provided by the Mayor's office. HOW MANY RESIDENTS DO YOU THINK HAVE REQUESTED TO BE LISTED AS "WILLING"?)

  To comment on your suggestion that some "group" be set up to do this, it is my opinion that such is really not necessary, nor even preferable.

  That's what's so "neat" about this!

  This is something that each and every member of this DB could do which:

  1. Costs nothing (email), or very little (snailmail).

  2. Takes very little time (an hour or less).

  3. Takes very little effort (simply make a few "personalized" changes to the sample letter).

  4. Can be done anonymously (identity protected).

  HOWEVER, as you can see from the limited response, this suggestion will likely die a quick death here, which says alot about all the "huffing and puffing" that goes on here. It's becoming rather obvious that the vast majority of participants here "hair-triggers" when it comes to spouting off on a db, but when it comes to actually pulling their finger out of their ass and doing something, then that's a different story.

  It's not taking me long to see why the WTS has very little to fear from this crowd- All Blow and No Show!

  You don't get it! I would prefer that NOONE here, who has the ability and willpower to Debate JWs who call at their door, would send such a notice to their local Cong.

  I'm trying to get folks here motivated and educated enough to communicate with local Church groups to get local "petition campaigns" started both inside and outside their church.

  If only one church could be motivated to do this in each small community, the probability of a "snowball effect" is high. Once local gossip got out that the Baptist Church's members no longer had JWs knocking at their doors, then Baptist Churches in neighboring towns would likely follow suit. On hearing that the Baptist churches had suceeded in stopping JWs from knocking at their members' doors, other churches would also likely want to do the same.

  Before long, the decreasing number of available doors would result in non-signers being pestered more frequently, which results in more antagonistic responses, plus those people signing up themselves.

  The effect that this would have on the local JWs' morale is obvious.

  Then, if a JW slipped up and called at a DNC, and if a homeowner actually sued them and the local Cong, well....

  There's no reason you can't sign your name if that's what you want to do, nor no reason you can't use snail-mail if that's your preference.

  You are correct that to send a signed hardcopy letter probably stands a better chance of being taken seriously, as well as receiving a response.

  However, for those who do not wish to identify themselves, an anonymous version stands self-explanatory through the very message of the sample that I have posted above. The receipient can fully understand why the sender does not want their identity known.

  I have already emailed (anonymously) one letter to my local hospital, and one to a Doctor's clinic. (I'm having problems gathering individual doctor's email addresses.) If and when I receive a response, I will post such.

  All an Individual has to do is to notify the local Congregation that the Individual does not want any JWs to enter upon their private property, if that entry is for the purposes of communicating the beliefs of the JW religion, or is for any other proselytizing purposes.

  The property should be specifically identified by postal address, or other thorough means.

  All resident adults should sign the request.

  The "Notice" should be sent snailmail (registered/certified would be great) to the local Cong, and one should also "CC" the WTS.

  The "Notice" could also include a warning that "any violations of this request will be prosecuted as TRESPASS, both civilly and criminally."

  The "Notice" can also be expanded to include "all forms of communication", including postal mail, email, telephone, etc,.

  I will try to put together and post a "sample letter" when I have time.

  Look for email addresses in their homepages. Homepage URLs can be found on Billing Statements, Yellow Page Ads, or use a search engine.
