Awww. I don't know you, but I don't think you're a bully either. Cyber hugs! And sometimes, one needs to be assertive. Assertive, not agressive, which although in society 'ascertive' is looked down upon, it most definitely does not make you a villain.

Do You Blame Your Current Life's Issues Because You Were A JW?
by minimus indo you tend to blame your problems on the fact that you were a jehovah's witness?.

DesirousofChange- Hey, I agree with you!! Being a JW, it definitely saved me some uneccessary problems. Although it exacerbated many underlying issues I would've have developed sooner or later, it did prevent a lot of problems, especially when you're a teenager. It's not like I didn't like to go out, but it helped me choose my friends carefully, and to a certain extent, it did curve a lot of temptations (like, having sex with as many guys as you could. I wasn't a prude, but being a JW it made me think twice about sleeping around or drinking like the end was coming).

Hahaha. My current boyfriend showed his true colors- and I mean he told me A LOOOOOOT of things from his past- and yeah, it made me pause and say, uhh maybe not.... but I appreciated the honesty :p. I try to stay as true as I can, but when on a first date, I get nervous and get hyper and am more chatty than usual (I'm sure others do this too). It's not trying to be deceptive, it's just my fight-or-flight reponse... fight them with CHATTERBOX.

Famliy Woes
by exjwza inso my story, just like everyone elses that has left, is one of confusion , hurt, and lots of mixed emotions, .
i was raised a witness, and at the age of 20ish bent to pressure from the elders and got baptised, my heart was never in it, not even as a child, it was more jsut the motions of it, because thats what you were taught your whole life to do.
about a year after being baptised, i met a a young lady that opened my eyes, while she wasnt in my life long, (dont blame her, i had a lot to deal with , family, elders, etc) she was my saving grace, in the "truth" i was depressive, lonely, :( .

Ever do drugs while in the organization?
by FifthOfNovember ini only ever drank while i was still attending meetings.
but i seriously considered trying lsd or shrooms.
i came really close to trying shrooms once with my friend but we never got around to calling someone to sell us some.

Lol uh well, I did happen to hold some stuff for a few friends (baptized JW girls by the way :D), but drugs have never appealed to me. Basically, it comes down to the fact that from a terrible bout of depression, I was prescribed medication for it, and the side effects were terrible. In the span of a couple years, I tried A LOT of different brands. I know it's not the same but hear me out. I drank around four times, and those four times were the worst experiences of my life. I'm pretty sure the medication I had taken had screwed up my chemically imbalanced brain, and so, alcohol= baaaaaad trip. Therefor, I assume taking pot or other stuff would not be pretty for me.
I don't judge people who do smoke pot, here in LA it's the kids who don't that get weird looks. Just don't smoke near me :p.

You'll lose your life and that of your children if you don't come back
by truthseeker init was a beautiful, sunny day.
i was in the supermarket doing an early morning shop when i see an old friend of the family, a jw sister.. she asked me if i'd gone to the memorial and i told her no.
she said that the end is so close what with all the earthquakes and brother truthseeker, you need to come back to jehovah otherwise you will die and so will your children.

Whoa. That blows so much (I speak like a teenager blaaaah :p). But I truly feel for you. Like someone mentioned up above, that's emotional blackmail. When nothing else gets to you, they spew out this drivel like it's something sane people say at a supermarket. Sheesh. BUt you gotta feel for them too. They really do believe all these atrocities will happen, and it sounds like she cares for you. In her misguided way, of course.

They keep coming!!
by finding my way inmy husband and i bought a house recently aand apparently our new house is smack in the middle of a diligent congregations territory.
they've been in our neigborhood twice a week since we moved in a month ago.
there are a lot of guard dogs in our neigborhood (yeah, i live in the hawaiian guetto) and they all go nuts when the witnesses are walking by.
