Yup, dealt with this growing up also. We were considered " good association" so our parents pretty much was on us to make sure we don't associate with this one or that one because they weren't regular in service or the meetings, etc. And these kids were in our classes and lived on our block and we genuinely liked them. Awful thing to do to people, especially children.

They did so well with telling potential members that if they study with Jehovah's Witnesses, they will be "persecuted" by family and friends. It was viewed as "prophetic." Virtually nobody noticed it was obvious that if you study with a cult, concerned loved ones will try to help you get away from that cult.

You put that question to him very delicately and non judgmentally.
Years ago, my older brother approached me very aggressively. I didn't know at the time he was just trying to wake me up because he loved me and wanted to get me out. I felt like he was attacking me and so I just blocked him and everything he was telling me out. Had he approached me differently, it may have been effective. So I just remembered that experience and tried to do the opposite with my younger brother hoping for a better, open outcome in establishing some dialogue.

So, my sibling and I are the only ones still in. As I mentioned in one of my posts I am fading out. The other half of my family are either df, da or stopped going years ago. We never shunned one another. Anyway, I put a casual question to them about the org. today, just to kind of feel them out. I asked their feelings on the org and if they ever felt something wasn't right or if they were totally fine with it. I was pleasantly surprised when they said they always felt something was off, but kept it quiet because they didnt want to be judged.. I let them know we could talk about it anytime, we feel the same, and no judgement. We live in separate states so Im looking forward to discussing this further and giving him the information I have. It may not turn into anything, but I am hopeful. -

we both had the heart drop feeling for a few minutes lol.
but he promptly, and politely, informed them that we are very busy but he will let them know when we are free.

We got over it. But he promptly, and politely, informed them that we are very busy but he will let them know when we are free. He said there is no way they will get a meeting out of us and we will just keep with different variations of the busy story as long as we have to, we don't have to tell them anything. I love him, he is the best lol! It's only been a month, so we were a little surprised at how soon they wanted to meet with us. Oh and how about this - they addressed me by the totally wrong name!! Yeah, you have no idea what my name is, but by all means, come on over and sit on my couch and be nosy and tell us we are spiritually weak and you want to help us get back on track. Get out of here!
