In addition to all the heavies mentioned, would like to throw Michael Hedges in the ring as one of my favorite acoustic players. Sadly he is gone, but his music is timeless IMO. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPB-ShG_UWY&mode=related&search= Also: John McLaughlin and friends: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQL3cNv_mqc

Snow .................again.
by Mulan init snowed here at the end of december and i said then that it usually doesn't snow here in the seattle area until january or february.. well.............they predicted a big snowstorm last night, and it didn't happen, but it's snowing now, really hard.
not sure if it will last long, because the weather forecasters can't seem to predict much correctly, other than rain and wind.. i was hoping to take pictures but it's dark, so will have to wait until morning.
a cold front is supposedly going to last awhile here, so the snow should be around for a few days this time..

Hi Mulan!
I saw some emails from my company in Seattle floating around, reviewing the company policy on making it to work on snow days. (Basically, unless its a total disaster, we want you to come in - even if it takes hours to get there. Otherwise, the day is deducted from your sick or vacation days)I miss those snow days in Seattle. As you know, the house we used to live in had this very steep driveway. Unless we thought ahead and parked the cars at the top of the driveway - we usually could not make it out.
No snow here of course - but we have had several overcast days and a little rain.
Thanks for your cards - we miss you folks too!
Will write more later.
Aloha
Makena and SabinePS - here is a picture of our "babies" from xmas time. Getting them to hold still long enough was quite a feat!

I sincerely hope you press charges, or at the very least write a letter to the editor of the local paper. Worded properly, it could take years for the local KH to live this one down. 35-40 yr old Pranksters????? Ya right. Gee, do you think alcohol might have been involved? JW's hate negative publicity - they just handed you the motherload, IMO. all best makena

Enjoyed your post. We are very slowly easing into doing Christmas...(keep in mind we do not have any young children or grandchildren) but our modest decorations, display of cards from friends etc are very pretty to look at.
It took quite awhile, but we even got the pups in the holiday spirit!

My dad was at Bethel 1931-1934 and heard da Judge say that on more than one occasion. Dad was definitely "head" of our family, but fortunately treated mom with love and respect. If reincarnation is a reality, hopefully the judge came back as a woman, or at least doing latrine duty on a planet ruled by women somewhere in the universe.

$h*T happens
by purplesofa ini never knew if i was getting attacked by satan because i was doing good.. or if jehovah was allowing me to be tested by satan.
if i was reaping what i had sown.
if it was times and unforeseen occurances.. if i was really not going to have more put on me than i could bare.

Missed this thread when it was first posted. Yep, I was one of those starry eyed new elders around 10 years ago. One of the first elder's meetings I attended was at the home of the PO. There was such a feeling of comraderie and genuine affection, with comments from 20 year veterans, "This is the most tight knit, loving group of brothers I have ever served with". Within 3 months, the entire mood changed dramatically. The PO had health problems - could not attend meetings and take the lead, but would not step down. Ego's took over and basically divided the group down the middle over having the PO step down. Got so bad, the CO and DO got involved. They ended up bringing in a new PO from the outside with an even bigger ego who made sweeping changes. The best of the bunch IMO ended up moving to other congregations - some including me, left the borg entirely for various reasons. Reading COC confirmed that meetings at Bethel were no different than what I experienced over a short period of time.

Actually there is a lot of speculation about another planet called "X" (OK by me if they call it XENA - lol) that affects the orbits of Uranus and Jupiter - but will the Sumerians get the credit they deserve when and IF it is proven? ; ) http://xfacts.com/x2.htm

Remember the Written Review
by 30girl inwhat exactly was the purpose of the written review?
it was extremely helpful that the society warned you on the calendars which night you had to skip... we had those boards that they passed out so you had a good writing surface, often covered with witness grafiti like, jesus or jehovah or something biblical.
remember the little grading sheet on the back; excellent, very good, good -- was there a poor?

Yes - that's what I remember. Back in the late 50's early 60's, papers were turned in and graded by the school servant. Also, in our little KH in northern Indiana, the kids who were to young to take the "test" got to head to the library for story time. Most times, story time was with a brother who was also head or assistant librarian for the main Chicago library. Interestingly, he had always disagreed with the borg's blood policy. He eventually left the organization when it was discovered he was one of the major donors to a local hospital's blood donors/research wing.
