That's great news! Very happy for you. Suggestion: Keep a journal, and turn it into a sequel to Old School.

A Major Dream Has Been Fulfilled!!!!!
by XJW4EVR init has always been a dream of mine to transfer to, and graduate from the university of southern california.
last year i applied, and about two weeks ago i was accepted.
that was cool, but i had no way of paying for it, and the financial aid i applied for would not cover enough of the tuition, and other fees.

It's breakfast time here in Hawaii and you folks are making me hungry! Tasty described dishes indeed. Just one question - do you folks from the UK have some special DNA that makes you immune to problems with cholesterol? LOL. My favorite breakfast includes some kind of lox, eggs and onions all scrambled together (or a veggie omelette), country potatoes, onion bagel and cream cheese - a latte to wash it down. Unfortunately, I only get that breakfast a couple of times a month. Most days its Irish oats with dried blueberrie and cranberries. Good for me, but I miss my eggs! Aloha, Makena.

How many remember the 1969 8 day convention?
by seek2find inanybody remember the 8 day 1969 international convention.
i was at the braves stadium in atlanta all 8 days with a sunburn and then wet clothes after the rain storms.

Emma, I was in Chicago as well - the old White Sox park if I recall. I was 14 or 15 and played clarinet in the orchestra. In addition to enduring 8 days in Chicago, we also made the trip to Europe. Al Schroeder and his son Judah Ben were on the flight with us from NY to Paris. We spent 3 days in Nuremburg. Dad was missionary in Belgium so we attended the Dutch speaking sessions in a smaller stadium. The only talk I understood was the public talk on Sunday that Knorr delivered. I was also at the 1958 assembly at Yankee Stadium. It's amazing to me how my mother managed, pregnant with 2 small boys, while my dad was off interpreting and playing in the orchestra. Only a few diehards would put up with that kind of inconvenience today!!!

More than I want to remember. I handled the accounts off an on for over 20 years in various congregations. If we had a shortfall meeting our minimum obligations, whenever I could, I would make up the difference. Before we left, the cong. Secretary told me that our family contributed over 25% of the money, and put in about 25% of the hours posted by the congregation. At the time, it was something I was proud of. doh!

My wife and I recently went on a trip to the mainland. 5+ hours each way on the plane. I forgot to bring something to read.
She had Obama's, The Audacity of Hope (definitely non-fiction, but an excellent read), and One Thousand White Women by Jim Fergus.
I read the Jim Fergus and finished it on the return flight. Excellent story - the review is in this link.

PS – I usually do not watch movies on the plane, but thoroughly enjoyed Will Smith and his son in The Pursuit of Happyness.

As I recall, he was a District Overseer. Always had some great inside info. I believe I read that his health was not good and stopped posting. I hope he is still with us, but don't know for sure. Perhaps someone else has info?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion - my wife and I happen to love watching football. We also like to run, compete in tennis, swim, hike, golf (me), work out - so we are NOT couch potatoes! Here is an article for all you TV sports naysayers: http://dethroner.com/2007/01/29/why-i-hate-football/ Best to all! Aloha Mak

Nice pecs! lol Of course, after absolutely spanking Sharipova in the Aussie Open, she thanked her god Jeehovah. interestingly she also said that she was inspired to win by her sister that was murdered. I am a total fan of Serena's tennis abilities, but I guess she forgot about Eccl. 9.

Me too...Grew up in Northern Indiana before there was an Indianapolis Colts. Basically got my wish- an all midwest Super Bowl. Happy either way with the outcome, but leaning a little more towards the Bears. Also pretty amazing that for the first time in history, not one but two afro-american coaches in the Super Bowl. We live in interesting times!!! lol
