I want to go with a girl who I really like but I am now allowed... It really sucked telling her I couldn't take her and she doesn't understand why...

Did anyone try to go to the high school prom ?
by Pitchess Co-Gen ini remember being a high school senior and wanting to go to prom ( i graduated from high school in 2003 ), but prom was forbidden when your a jw teen.
i even said to my parents if i took a witness girl would it be ok; they actually said yes.
i found a girl ( yes she's a witness ) to go with me, but here's the kicker she agreed to go.

June 15th WT - WT Society Pressures JW Parents to Indoctrinate Children
by flipper inin a non-study article in the jw only watchtower is an article titled " should youths get baptized ?
" the wt society is losing young people in very large numbers - so how else to try stemming the exodus than putting pressure on jw parents to indoctrinate and instill mind control into their children ?
in one section here in this article it almost sounds like a version of " 20 questions " that the wt society asks parents to determine if their children are making " spiritual progress " as they phrase it.

Darn, I am 17 and baptised but I will awnser these for you guys.
1. Does your child " keep seeking the Kingdom " in the ministry ? NO!
2. Is he willing to share the good news with others, or do you have to give him STRONG encouragement to go out in field service and talk at doors? I am forced to go out because it is not fun and it is just plain awkward....
3. Does he make known to schoolmates and teachers that he is a Witness of Jehovah ? Not a single one knows they all forgot over the past few years! Makes school so much fun because I am normal!
4. Is attending congregation meetings important to him ? 4 hours of wasted time a week.
5. Does your child strive to stay clean morally by avoiding harmful associates in school and elsewhere ? I try to go out with friends and actually have fun. I want to have a girlfriend but well, that just isn't going to happen while at home still.
6. What are his preferences regarding music, movies, television programs, video games, and the use of the Internet ? Well, very unclean entertainment... Involves violent movies, video games, and TV programs.
7. How well does your child know the Bible ? Kinda...
8. Can he put in his own words what he learns during your Family Worship evening ? LOL Family Worship evening.
9. Does reading the Bible and studying the publications of the faithful and discreet slave interest him ? HELL NO!

Your Age at Baptism (into JWs, not Catholics or Baptists - duh)
by undercover inleavingwt mentioned on another thread the age of his wife when she was baptized.
she was a child.
how can you expect a child to make such a decision?.

I was at 15 because I didn't feel accepted. If I only knew nothing would change when I was, other than it made leaving much more difficult.

Did you watch R rated movies when you were in it?
by ldrnomo inlast night, i watched an r rated movie that featured violence.
at least 30 people were shot in the first 45 min of the movie.. while i was in and an elder, i watched r rated movies all the time just didn't talk about it.
so how many of you watched r rated movies even though "mother" said not to?.

MEMORIAL AT THE KINGDOM HALL OVERFLOWING WITH NEWCOMERS?
by steve2 inthis is a question for those brave souls who, for whatever reason, attended this year's memorial: .
who else was there?
was there any evidence that the witnesses are still attracting a large crowd of "newly interested ones" (to use their awful phrase) or even complete strangers drawn in by the door-to-door work.. i hear lots of comments about how poorly attended some of the weekly meetings in the halls have now become, so i'm curious about what you guys may have seen when you attended in the past day or so.

I got back from mine, didn't get the exact amount of people there. I didn't see any people who just came because they were invited off the street. Just the normal crowd.

i just came back from the memorial
by J. Hofer init wasn't all that bad.
met a few friends who also don't give too much about it and had some great laughs afterwards.
we talked about how we still remember when only about 7000 took from the emblems and now its more than 11000. we also laughed about how it would look like having jesus and his disciples pass around wine and bread on a plate like that.. all in all it was the same procedure as every year.

Lost Legitimate Opportunities For Love
by PublishingCult inwhen you were in the organization of jehovah's witnesses, did you shun legitimate courtship attempts from "worldly" men or women who were otherwise very desirable and suitable because they were non-believers?
.
did you fancy them as well, but tried to get them to study and come into the organization in order to justify the relationship?.

I am a senior in high school and there is a girl I have been close friends with for years. We just click and can talk about pretty much anything and the best part of my day is when I am talking to her. Nobody at school knows I am a JW so not asking her out is looked at strangly by my friends. Its really hard for me right now with senior prom coming up and I am getting pressure to ask this girl out and I can't and I really want to....
Hey might not be my true love, but the moment I get out of this BS religion that has ruined my childhood and I go to college finding out if she is meant for me is the first thing I plan to do.

July 15th WT out - Coming out Swinging at Apostates Hard
by LostGeneration inthis is one of the most aggressive watchtowers i think i have ever read.. four study articles on not "following the crowd" not following unrealities(page 13) not following false teachers, meaning apostates of course(p 15).
avoiding false teachers means "refusing to read their literature, watch tv programs that feature them, examine their web sites, or add comments to their blogs.
(para 7, pg 16).

Wow, as a teen trying to get out of the JW org this is a real eye opener. I want out just because I don't feel accepted or as if I have any friends and it just holds me back from what I want to do(college). But seeing stuff like this is making me question the validity of all of this.
I know at the recent CA the DO gave a talk and pretty much spent 30 minutes saying how the young people 25 and under are not stepping up for responsibilities and pioneer service. We only had I think 5 regular pioneers under the age of 25 in the circuit. I looked around at the whole circuit and there are very few young people, mostly a big hall full of older people. The young people in my cong. in the past 5 years who have turned 18 head for the door as soon as they can.
I thank all of you for your comments.
