What about the population of humans around the time of the flood?
I don't know how accurate the estimates are but the site I found suggests there would have been between 15 and 20 million people on earth at that time.
i've been thinking for a while about the topic mentioned in the title and came to the conclusion that the flood story from the bible provides a very good starting point for proving the bible wrong.. in the following paragraphs i'll be only presenting ideas and potentially logic errors, and possible answer.
i didn't do any serious research yet, for in order to answer various questions a good base in specific branch of science is required.. according to the bible (the internet) the volume of the ark was 137.16 m * 22.86 m * 13.716 m = 43006 cubic meters (roughly).
if we was to subtract the volume of the interior structure (elements like walls, stairs, etc.

9:45am suspicious activity.
a caller from whitman street reported that a car pulled into her driveway; a man went to the door and knocked very hard.
the caller was scared.
A Parker Drive woman called police at 10:19 a.m. Sept. 22 that Jehovah's Witnesses would not honor her "no soliciting" sign. They told her that they are not soliciting. Police told the suspects that they were soliciting and need to comply with the sign.
Lots of funny replies there too.
today i heard from the owner of a small restaurant, the story of how a brother in a local congregation ripped him off for thousands.
the restaurant owner is not a jw but totally familiar with the cult, as his mother is a long-time baptized sister.
she asked him to hire this wonderful brother from her congregation to do construction work he needed at his house.
I saw what happened to those who hired 'brothers' and then got taken, only to be told they could not sue.
I used to work for a brother that said to get them disfellowshipped then sue them.
I was never quite sure if he was serious or not. Probably serious enough so that people wouldn't risk it.
He was pretty careful about the witnesses he hired anyway.
in harmony with acts 6:1-7, what is the gb giving back to the r&f?
the post about the cos being retired and recent wt articles about caring for older ones made me think.
the gb is doing everything to cut costs while at the same time asking for more sacrifices.
They kind of remind me of schoolmaster Squeers from Nicholas Nickleby.
I saw the 2002 movie just in case he happens to be nice in one of the other versions.
just wondering if anyone here has compared the prices of the wt approved hotels with the same hotel on hotwire, hotels dot com or some other such site?.
i know my dad used to call the hotel and use his mastercard perks to get a better rate than the wt was offering.
this was well before the internet age.
Tech49,
So true. I was going to mention the fun by the pool, but I figured I'd leave it for someone else. You didn't disappoint!
Such good memories, I even have a group in mind for the young underdressed ladies at Fridays.
I remember going out to eat after the assembly once with a new group and the waitress was just nasty. Probably because we were being such a pain in the A**. A couple of us complained and asked for a new waitress which we got. When the JW mom of the group found out she insisted on getting the original waitress back because, I assume, it would have been a bad witness to expect good service. Wish I pulled the headship card just to stick it to her.
That should have taught me to join a strange group just for the cute sisters, although I’m pretty sure it didn’t
here in nc it's snowing, about 6" so far.
haven't had so much snow and ice in a long time as we have so far this winter.. ken p..
elder-schmelder,
Are those 2014 convention badges they are wearing?
I bet a lot more men would get baptised if they did the dunking!!

i don't find the article itself very compelling but it seems to be opening up the possibility that a creative day is not a specific time period.
Hmm so they got rid of the 6000 year creative days a while ago? I wonder if it was after I was out or I just wasn't paying attention. If they don't know how long the creative days are how do they claim to calculate where we are in the stream of time? That and 1914 seemed to be the two anchors to the whole religion. I guess they have to rely more on the time, times and half a time in daniel. (I gave a talk on how ambiguous Nostradamus was with his predictions and that scripture came instantly to mind). My head is starting to hurt :-)
One thing that seems a bit bizarre to me is the idea of the earth being surrounded by water in the atmosphere. Where did the bible writers come up with that? Seems like they would have written stuff based on what they saw around them in nature. Maybe they came up with the idea of a flood and had to backport the story to match?
FOURTH DAY
The sun and moon become discernible from the earth’s surface
That seems like it might be stretching what that scripture says a bit at least without some qualification.
That one never really sat well with me even back in the day.

I was thinking about this too, Jesus washed the feet of his disciples, not the other way around.
But I was also wondering if the disciples were known for doing anything similar after Jesus was gone. I’m pretty sure they weren’t leaching off the the local congregations either way.

“In the Bible account, each of the six creative days could have lasted for thousands of years”
Wasn’t armageddon’s coming tied to the length of the creative days? If so doesn’t this pretty much destroy their entire timeline for being in the time of the end?
