When I was getting DFed a friend told me they are just men you need to play up how sorry you are.
Another one, you shouldn't wear shorts at the KH even when you are there for a casual reason like meeting a group in the parking lot.
there were many addressed to me.
for example, i once had a sister tell me i was gambling because i liked playing skill crane (the machine where you have to try to pick up prizes like stuffed animals) at the arcade.
i then fired back a her: "you saw the r-rated movie 'backdraft.

if a fellow j.w.
asked a publisher/pioneer/missionary j.w., "how are your hours this month", they will gladly reveal how many hours they've racked up "for jehovah.".
now ask them, "how much money have you contributed to kingdom interests this month", they'd look at you as if you were beelzebub himself, and tell you that that was "personal.
what do you really believe the percentage is for jw who are truly ignorant of what is going on behind closed doors of the w.t.
as opposed to those who actually know something is wrong & yet go along with it for whatever reason?
i have been asked for coffee by what i can only describe as one of the sweetest persons i have ever known & i cant even begin to conceive that she knows what is happening with the child abuse cases but then how do i know?
please, who can provide an intelligent rebuttal to the following illustration?
i always thought it was bullet-proof:.
"if your doctor directs you to 'abstain from alcohol' would you be ok to have it injected into your veins rather than drink it?
The bible clearly said to pour the blood on the ground, not into a centrifuge where it will be separated into parts and then you can pick and choose which parts you feel comfortable using. This right here seems to negate their alcohol analogy
If you cut yourself would you hesitate to clean the cut with alcohol because of your doctor's orders.
If for whatever reason you were in a situation where alcohol was the only way to save your life who's advice would you listen to?
Acts 15:29 doesn't even seem to be a a command but more of a warning or sage advice. It sounds to me like there was something specific going on in Antioch, Syria and Cilicia that prompted the writing of the letter. Compare it to the advice you might give someone going off to college for the first time.
It could easily be applied as a warning against making too many rules and regulations.
The problem is that it is a nonsensical Homeresque argument that makes sense when you hear it but not so much when you think about it.
Example of a Homeresque argument:
Marge Simpson "Homer the plant called and said if you don't come to work on Friday don't bother showing up on Monday."
Homer: "Woo hoo 4 day weekend!"
the danger for the families?
to have their firstborn killed by jehovah, ---but teach them they will be protected by following jehovah's (gb's) instructions, even seemingly irrational.. if you do the daily text, don't pass over this opportunity.
of the irrational passover.
sorry, i know i posted this earlier but i believe the title did not gather enough attention.
i think is a topic worth discussing.. http://www.jw-archive.org/post/127866869178/new-light-the-inspired-word-of-god-can.
that was the question to me tonight.
because of their beliefs they have a moral compass, a net work of friends and a support group.
they have what they believe is a loving god.
is this double talk or is it just me?
it's a comment in the sept 15, 2015 wt about higher education:.
11 today, we are blessed with much knowledge of jehovahs works of creation and the outworking of his purpose.
I believe this is called shibboleth. i.e. it makes perfect sense to JWs.
In reality it is just the dubs trying to interpret the scriptures to fit their own needs. The bible says to love knowledge but this does not mean getting an education, it means reading more watchtowers.
i know there is a lot of people on here that will say it is pure make believe but i am interested if anybody has had any real concrete things happen such as something moving or something appearing in the mirror etc.. anything just post it up here even if it wasn't much.
please give a little context as to the situation..
i'm sure this has been discussed before, but i have been thinking the last few days about all of us.
the "evil apostate" family.
we all have suffered at the hands of the org and their brain washing of our family and friends.
Suggesting that we are fulfilling the prophesy suggests that the prophesy is real and that the JWs have accurately interpreted it.
I find it odd that they refer to the prophesy of the good news being preached in all the earth, then do a lot of preaching and declare that they have fulfilled the prophesy.
I read about 4 horsemen in the bible so I went out and bought four horses, hired some actors to ride them and reenact the scene from Revelation. Viola! Prophesy fulfilled!!!
