Sept, 17 text; "Jehovah protects his people"-- from Jehovah.
by prologos inthe danger for the families?
to have their firstborn killed by jehovah, ---but teach them they will be protected by following jehovah's (gb's) instructions, even seemingly irrational.. if you do the daily text, don't pass over this opportunity.
of the irrational passover.

by StarTrekAngel insorry, i know i posted this earlier but i believe the title did not gather enough attention.
i think is a topic worth discussing.. http://www.jw-archive.org/post/127866869178/new-light-the-inspired-word-of-god-can.

That must be why the word generation is used incorrectly in the Greek Scriptures. -

Who am I to screw up their happiness?
by Crazyguy inthat was the question to me tonight.
because of their beliefs they have a moral compass, a net work of friends and a support group.
they have what they believe is a loving god.

I used to feel that way and still generally do. But their insistence on coercing children to ruin their lives by being baptized has definitely changed my attitude. For the most part if you get baptized as an adult you made the decision now you have to live with it. But every day on reddit I read about another young person being punished for messing up on the baptism questions, being grounded because they aren't ready to be baptized etc.... And that is just the ones with the courage to stand up and say no thanks. How many more are there that fall for the caleb videos or just do it to get along and regret it later. -

Watchtower Double Talk September 15, 2015
by LevelThePlayingField inis this double talk or is it just me?
it's a comment in the sept 15, 2015 wt about higher education:.
11 today, we are blessed with much knowledge of jehovahs works of creation and the outworking of his purpose.

I believe this is called shibboleth. i.e. it makes perfect sense to JWs.
In reality it is just the dubs trying to interpret the scriptures to fit their own needs. The bible says to love knowledge but this does not mean getting an education, it means reading more watchtowers.

This seemed to be big in the late 70's early 80s as a lot of hippies started turning their lives around. The one person I knew that claimed a demon experience was one of these ex-hippies. So I suspect that often it has a lot to do with previous drug usage. -

Are we helping to fulfill "prophecy"?
by LexIsFree ini'm sure this has been discussed before, but i have been thinking the last few days about all of us.
the "evil apostate" family.
we all have suffered at the hands of the org and their brain washing of our family and friends.

Suggesting that we are fulfilling the prophesy suggests that the prophesy is real and that the JWs have accurately interpreted it.
I find it odd that they refer to the prophesy of the good news being preached in all the earth, then do a lot of preaching and declare that they have fulfilled the prophesy.
I read about 4 horsemen in the bible so I went out and bought four horses, hired some actors to ride them and reenact the scene from Revelation. Viola! Prophesy fulfilled!!!

The typical JW zombie mindset
by SecretSlaveClass ini posted this on a pro-jw site:.
this is the official policy sanctioned by the governing body.
it's not about indivuals being molesters/deviants.

I had a discussion with a therapist about pedos and he said he will only work with them if they admit they are doing wrong. Then went on to say they almost never do. The Dubs seem to think the bible has magic powers when used by the them. Not much different than a priest using it to exorcise demons. So it would stand to reason that they believe the pedos have been cured. -

What is their official explanation for not allowing beards?
by keyser soze ini ask because my gf, who knows all about my jw upbringing, convinced me to grow a goatee, just to see how it looks.
we both decided it looked good so i decided to keep it.
i tried to explain to her that as a jw, i wasn't allowed to grow one, but then drew a blank when she asked me why.
