what kinds of things would you like to do if you were out of the organization?
and if you're already out and free, what kinds of things did you do that you really wanted to do but couldn't because it was against jw beleiefs?.
recently, i overheard some of the younger crowd of jw's after a meeting talking about how they wished they could have this or do that, get tattoos, play the newest video games (you know, the ones with all the violence and realistic 'kickass' graphics and such), grow out their beards for 'no shave november" wear miniskirts and dye their hair crazy colours... etc.

I think that once I leave I'll let my hair grow out (on my head), I'll get a tattoo symbolizing my freedom from the org, and I'll try to start a band. I'd celebrate all kinds of celebrations and festivities, and when I mean celebrate, I mean go all out! I'd also probably grow my beard out, maybe once, for shits and giggles. Also do whatever I'd want. Whenever.
What about you?
as a daily visitor of this site i am shocked by how judgemental i am.. .
if someone makes a valid point but does not spell well it colours my judgement.. .
if someone who is a clown has excellent grammar i give them leeway.. as an aside i am a gramaphobe.. .
Haha you grammar nazi you!
well it took a loooong time to do, but i have typed up all 29,000+ words and made a transcript.
it has been a year and a month actually since i went in and let me them df me, and it feels great to be out of watchtower!!!!.
a picture of the first page is here:.
So happy for you man! I can't believe it's already been over a year!!
i am not sure how you all feel as we all left at different times for different reasons.... but this new bible seems to have put some final nails into a coffin that was once my jw life.
the religion is so far and so different to the religion i grew up in that it has become something i feel no affiliation with anymore, no bond, no shared ideas or even sentimental views.
different teachings on when the end is coming.
Lovely post. I'm only in my 20's and yet I feel the exact same way.
they seem determined to undermine the us democracy and shut the government down hurting employees and veterans.. what a despicable bunch, hope they get their asses kicked for what they are doing..
Watching the news unfold from a hospital bed doesn't help much but at least it's not the end of the world.
Also, wtf America?
my cousin was watching with me and then asked, "does that mean that I don't have to go to school tomorrow?"
i noticed a few times that the active topics list seemed a little messed up.
i'll take a look at it..
Lol okay sounds good. No pressure!

Did the 'start new topic' button get moved or what. It doesn't appear on my screen anywhere anymore. Also what happened to the mobile version of the forum? Now it only takes me to the desktop version whenever I'm my smartphone.
hey to everyone here... so i have never been one for writing much of my feelings down for other people to see.
this however has become so important to me and i may be able to help someone who dares go looking for answers some place other than the jw.org website.
first of all i would like to thank anybody and everybody who had the courage enough to write their experience in the organisation.
Welcome Happier!
What a lovely username btw!(:
First of all, I'm so sorry that you've gone through all of this! It's really sad and downright hearthbreaking when you see the lack of love that exists inside and when you see the truth about the "truth" in this organization. I also had what I thought was a real friend that I tried confiding in when I saw the wrongs of this religion and he reacted the exact same as your supposed "friend".
But don't worry. This forum is filled with a wide spectrum of different faiths, beliefs, ideas and ages. You have real people here with similar experiences who know exactly what you're going through and who will treat you better than most of the brothers and sisters at the kingdom hall.
It's nice to know that you got away and that you even moved to a different city. I myself, am a 21 year old ongoing fader. I haven't been able to free myself completely due to family reasons but I keep my chin up.
I'll send you a PM as I believe others will do as well. To check those, you'll need to click on the envelope located next to your username on the top right corner. Sometimes you'll need to click PM's twice because the first time it could tell you there was an error.
I hope that your life continues to be truly happier!
Again welcome to the forum!

this'll probably get me disfellowshipped eventually but it's been hella fun!.
so lately every time an opportunity arrises while speaking to other jdubs at the meetings or assemblies or even just overhearing their conversations about new light or new publications, service, anything really i drop little things that pass unoticed by most but make some stop and think for a minute.. for example, after one sunday meeting, a brother came up to me with about 5 other jdubbies to poke fun at me saying, "i thought you said you never sat at the front?!
huh?

So lately every time an opportunity arrises while speaking to other Jdubs at the meetings or assemblies or even just overhearing their conversations about new light or new publications, service, anything really I drop little things that pass unoticed by most but make some stop and think for a minute.
For example, after one Sunday meeting, a brother came up to me with about 5 other Jdubbies to poke fun at me saying, "I thought you said you never sat at the front?! Huh? What happened to that?" (I had to sit at the front because the attendant basically forced me to and I didn't want to make a scene since the meeting was already in session).
So I calmly responded, "Oh yeah, well when I said NEVER, I meant it in the JW sense like in Millions Now Living Will Never Die! you know? They're all pretty dead now so it should make sense to you brother I thought you'd get that." About 3 of them just were like "what?" and brushed it off but the other 2 paused a bit and then just laughed nervously then said "well whatever" and left.
Then once I skipped the service group and the brother in charge of taking out the group asked me at the next meeting in front of everyone in a very in your face self-righteous way "Why weren't you at the service meeting? We we're all waiting for you!" And I replied, "Oh what? You didn't see me brother? I was totally there!" Then he quickly snapped "no you weren't brother! No. You. Weren't." So I replied with "No, no, no I was. I was just there Invisibly. Just like Jesus has been since 1914!" He was about to say something else when he stopped and just gave me that stare of "what did you just say?" A couple other brothers laughed out loud then said "Good one!" and so the brother just dropped it. It was hilarious!
And recently I attended a JW wedding that I didn't want to be at. (Does anyone ever want to be at any JW event?) I mean everything was pro JW. All legit with no wine or alchohol being served, only classical music, and there was even a part where they started giving "spiritual experiences" UGH!
But as soon as I walked in and noticed all these things, a couple bros and sisters noticed my deep sigh, came by and said "What's wrong brother? Aren't you enjoying this fine spiritual reception? -Side note, these guys were dead serious AND are in their early 20's! So I was like, "Oh no it's not that at all, I just thought that they were gonna party like it was 1975 not 1976! All of them just exchanged silent stares and one let out a shy laugh, then they walked away without much else to say!
It's a blast! I have to be very subtle but just hit hard enough to get their brain working. I'm sure someone's going to catch on eventually. Have any of you ever done something like this? I've got lots more but not much time to write them all down now. But soon. I'd love to hear some good ones.
OneDay out!
