Anyone w/anxiety disorders? Describe it.

i'm curious to see if anyone here has any major anxiety disorders and how it affects their lives.

as a semi-confession, i think i may have something of this sort, but i'd like a comparison first.

being a male, i never go to the doctors unless my leg is falling off, so i don't just want to go to a doctor to medicate a problem that could be overcome in other ways.

I believe our heightened state of awareness after the WT causes us to become overly anxious

after reality takes hold. Especially with regards fear of making decisions

because we've made one huge mistake in the past. Anti depressants are

incredible if you are in a real mess, but I've moved on from them and now use

exercise to counteract anxiety. I accept that I'm anxious and try not to dwell

on how I feel when I'm overly worked up. Sometimes my blood sugar gets out

of whack, which adds to the problem. Try to eat from the low glycemic index.Exercise every day for 40 minutes.

oh darn...i hate when life grants those wishes, when you ask for them.

this august 7th i leave the u.s. and fly to rio de janeiro and will be coming back late january or should time provide, mid march.

i dread staying untill march, because of carnival...i know, i know...terrible, absolutely terrible.

Becky, To me "lurkers" is the only issue. I am not offended by anything I've seen/read here. BUT I have many times cringed when I've read something and hoped that no one in search of information saw it. That's all I've thought. I haven't made a value judgements about the person who made the comments.

I spose I think that naked boobs belong on a naked boob site. At least if dubbie men go there they can't use convoluted reasoning to say that apostates are depraved. Not that they will address the issue of why they themselves are looking at a porn site.

::::::::::I do think we want to help them, but I also think we shouldn't have to be afraid of what the jw's think--I thought we left fear behind us. Our wanting to help jw's who lurk shouldn't supercede our freedom of expression.

Well, we can't help everyone. It would require a vast clean up of a lot of the things posted here. And I don't feel the forum would be that much fun if that were the case. It seems we should let the dice fall where it will. Dutchie raised a great subject for debate, but the bottom line is; THE LAW OF DEMINISHING RETURNS. Too much effort for too little return.

My hope is that Dutchie isn't too wounded by the debate. I think it's been an extremely healthy discussion and I wish I could post something that would evoke so much interest.

:::::::::::and to blanket all "questioning witnesses" with this shocked and easily offended persona isn't exactly accurate. In my opinion hwoever, the average witness would be far more upset about a thread where people were discussing magic.

I think you are right in that they may be upset about a lot of things we discuss. Most would leave even if what we discussed was all pure and Biblical. But really obvious 'in your face' stuff is making it doubly hard to get them to the real information they need.

Xander, that's crap about jw kids being the only ones who would stop off here. My sister knows I'm here and she and her hubby are DEVOUT, mindless dubbies. They have commented that I associate with apostates on the internet to my parents. I didn't tell them!! I'm sure that plenty of dubs have had a quick look see at apostate sites. It's only human.

I got side tracked from answering it. ; We usually discuss witchcraft ; & all the things you mentioned in a reasonably academic way. ; Demonism etc usually gets some excellent responses. ; ; In that context I tend to think a Witness can appreciate our willingness to discuss all aspects of all subjects. ; If we were discussing the validity of morals, again I think that is something they could understand. ; I believe the 'in your face' stuff is teh problem. 
Not long ago Farkel, whom I admire greatly, posted a thank you to all who helped him in his time of need. ; He included some comments about wanting a blow job from someone who had offered help. ; ; I wish he could have left it out. ;For the reason of offending dub lurkers. ; I have nothing against oral sex. I just wonder how much damage these comments do. ; Besides, if you are a female, it doesn't need to be said that a guy wants a blow job. ; It's common knowledge that it's all you live for. <IMG class=smilie src="/images/smilies/smile.gif">

:::::::::You are judging people's morality because of their nakedness! Sorry, but I think that's wrong. Their are much worse things in the world to think about other than naked pics. If we really were created in God's image as the bible claims, why would that be "perverted pleasure" then to view the naked body?

Becky, Isn't the real point of Dutchie's post what WT lurkers might think when they see naked pictures posted on here? If they've summoned up the courage to have a quick look see at a site like this and they click on the post with the bare bums, one imagines that they will leave very quickly, with their low opinions of apostates, thoroughly intact. Do we care about that? Seriously? Do we care? I think that question is all important. It's easy to say we don't care and I find it hard to care after all I've been subjected to from the WTS. But the reality is that if we met someone who had been willing to read information about the WTS and they were turned off before they begun, I know I'd feel really sad about it.

::::::::Our 'standards' have a way of leaping up and savaging our rear end as we get a little older.

Hillary, An example of this is that we allowed our daughter's boy friend to stay over night regularly (both over 21) - us being modern 'new age' parents an all. Two years down the track they break up and she is devistated. Seems he got fed up with her not coming across enough. She was final year medicine and working her buns off at the hospital and when she wasn't studying till all hours he was wanting his non-marital due. In retrospect I wish we'd acted like parents from the Bible belt USA!!!!

I have done a full about face on this issue - and it's not about morality it's about practicality. Live and learn!

Teejay, I'm flattered that you liked my post. This issue has been raging since the inception of exjw internet forums. The other thing I forgot to mention is that inspite of the subject matter on exjw forums, the number of people leaving is growing rapidly. Either that or more and more exjws are finding their way onto the net. I suspect that Witnesses who are in the market for a change are looking beyond the shallow stuff. Let's hope so anyway.
