i am planning a trip to the west coast from vancouver down to southern ca and would like to be able to discuss it with some of you guys who know that part of the world.
i would like to do it in private so as not to give things away to anyone snooping so wondering on the best way of having a private group chat.
facebook maybe?.
Never driven to SoCal from Vancouver, only flown. If you are driving and you have opportunity to go through the Oregon coast on your way I highly recommend it.
does any one have any experience with writing to the branch office?
i know they're busy, but while reading through the shepherd textbook, it says to write to them quite a few times.
so if a body of elders write to the branch office, whats the usual wait time for a response?
At the urging of a Witness friend, I submitted a question to Brooklyn about their use Justus Lipsius' illustration of the crux simplex. I sent it in Late February last year. I received an interesting response.
I think it was about 10 or 11 weeks later that 2 witnesses with whom I had earlier spoken to on separate occasions (neither of which were the witness who encouraged me to write the letter) arrived at my door to ask me some questions. Neither gave any indication that the branch had given them a response to give me and neither gave any indication that they knew of the contents of my query. ( My letter was sent to ask if they could provide any documentation from Lipsius' writings to indicate his belief that the crux simplex was indeed the instrument used in Christ's death). I didn't think of it at the time I wrote it, but they may have wanted to see if I had plans to publish or post their response in some way.
I sent a message to my Witness friend, telling him about the non-answer I received and his response was; "it was nice that 2 brothers came by".
guys i need a rebuttal in this.
cos this is what i plan to tell the elders when they come to me which i find inevitable.
due to general concession and confirmation from jw bible on page 1736. all the available christian greek scriptures manuscript today doesn't contain yhwh.
It's a perfectly acceptable objection to say that if something as important as the Tetragrammaton was removed from subsequent copies of the NT without any hint of any written objections to this heresy in any ancient documents, then it is impossible to know what else may have been omitted from or added to these extant manuscripts.
If they can argue that the Tetragrammaton was in the original writings of the NT and was removed without documented evidence, then we could argue that the spurious trinitarian text of 1 John 5:7b in the KJV, which they say was not included in the earliest manuscript copies and added much later (which is true), was indeed included in the original NT, removed at some point from copies and reinstated later without documented evidence of its inclusion in the originals. If they apply a consistent standard to both premises, they can't object to the inclusion of 1 John in the original text.
what a fine privelege to support jehovah with our valuable things.
At the Christian Life meeting, there was a blurb in the itinerary book for the "initial visit" to mention the "donation arrangement" (I think that was how it was worded). In the ladies role play, the "Witness" mentioned how the world wide work is funded solely by volunteer donations and informed the "householder" that she could make a donation too. The "householder" said she had no cash but was told a donation could me made through JW.org

why did the sacrifice have to be so brutal... i mean what value does that add to the equation of justice.couldn't he jesus have came down and just been slaughtered like a regular sacrifice without the brutal torture.why is justice served by brutalityanyone anyone bueller... lolnow you know i don't like to type for hours but this is always bothered me
To Tater-T
I see it as more of a demonstration than a drama.
The whole episode is ugly, disturbing and offensive. But what is most disturbing to me about it is that I'm not certain that I wouldn't do something like that given certain circumstances.
Being aware of this, I believe I have received much mercy.
Thanks Tater-T

Just my thoughts.
Perhaps the sacrifice was so brutal because people can be brutal. It showed the ugliness of sin.
Perhaps it also demonstrated God's love in that people who could go so far as to torture and crucify the Son of God could receive forgiveness from him.
Perhaps it serves to show how willing Jesus was to "throw himself on the grenade" to save others. Even those who's hands placed him there.

The XJW community on this forum is a force to be reconed with. Hoping that the outcome of this RC will be of great relief, validation and vindication to many on this forum and to other XJW's.

i felt it might be a good idea to post this so that sitting on the fence jw's or jw lurkers can see that this australia jw child abuse news of 1,006 jw child molesters not being reported to police by elders is a reality that has hit mainstream news media.
i thought this report was very well done.
here's the link : http://www.cnn.com/videos/world/2015/07/28/australia-jehovah-witness-sex-abuse-hannigan-lklv.cnn.
Anybody think one or more of the GB will head to Australia any time soon to rally the troops and boost morale?
Perhaps answer any questions that the Branch may have or address any concerns the average Witness may have?
