do the "seventy years" count from jerusalems destruction or not?

it seems to me that most, if not all christians are really hung up on sin and redemption from sin and how naturally evil we all are.. my question, and observation is this : i had nothing to do with whatever you say adam and eve did wrong, i have always, throughout my life, treated whoever i came into contact with compassion, respect and love.. i have lived by the golden rule.. not many people, hand on heart, can say that, i can.. so, is your god going to judge me for the "sin" of some mythical forebears of mine ?
is he going to say that , because i did not believe in him, i willl be judged adversely, even though i lived by the precepts he is supposed to support ?.
all i can say is, if your god is like that, i refuse to worship or acknowledge him.. and i certainly do not want to get to know him.

26yr. What was your experience with WT and where are you at now?
To tell the whole story, it would read like "Gone With the Wind". I was never a JW but my wife started studying with them after 5 years of marriage. Now there are a lot of things in this world that pluck away at the feathers of a marriage relationship but new feathers can be grown. The WT and its publisher on the other hand attack the very lifeblood of the relationship especially when one of the mates is labeled an unbeliever.
You said in one of your posts that you have a short memory. Mine is very long. I have read the complete bible (even the boring parts) more than a few times. For me the scriptures are much like the ingredients in a cake. If you mix them in the proper quantities and the proper order and bake them at the proper temperature for the right amount of time you end up with a fine cake. You can't add extra or leave anything out. You can't just measure them out and throw them in the oven. They have to be blended evenly together. The Bible is a finished cake and you can't break it down to it's individual ingriedents. When you do you no longer have a cake.
I'm going to quote one of the scriptures (for all the scripture barons) to explain why quoting them is pretty foolish.
2 Timothy 2:
14 Keep reminding God’s people of these things. Warn them before God against quarreling about words; it is of no value, and only ruins those who listen.
And only one other I wish I had paid more attention to when I discovered my wife was having a secret "bible study" with a JW.
2 Timothy 3
6 They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, 7 always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth.
I often don't know the book, chapter & verse but I do know my bible. Perhaps I don't know the exact words but I do know the intent and I remember where it's at.
IE:
Oh yea, I remember, that stuff about intelligence and foolishness and wisdom. It's in one of the Corinthians and it's in the second column on the left hand page about half way down.
The WT and the organization behind it is a "Destroyer" as surely as is Satan.

Through his undeserved kindness we are saved. Yes confess, repent, obey and sin again. Still undeserved.

So you accept Christ and are babtized to clense you of your sins........ and probably before you get out the door you already have a new sin under your belt...... unless you drowned being babtized you still have sins to die for

For several years I was the fire chief for our small town fire department and every year we had the 1st grade class visit the fire hall for the big fire safety lecture. I always had to ask the question "If your clothes catch on fire, then what?" They always all knew the answer (Stop, Drop & Roll) and they would all raise their hand to answer. I had to pick just one to respond and one year the boy I called on simply said "You're probably gonna die!"
So it is with sin, "You're prpbably gonna die" and I'm sure one of the scripture quoters here can direct you to the one that says that there is not one without sin.
As for the JW's, if arrogance is a sin, "They're probably gonna die."
this afternoon i had the pleasure of listening to my dad, husband and son discuss timing belts, the teeth they rest on, camshafts, and other car parts that i cant recall at such a late hour.
they were totally engrossed in the conversation and it was fun listening to them talk.
the air was thick with testosterone and they were so manly that i just had to smile about it.

Not any of it is worth a single iota if not for the wonderful women who bear our children and mend our wounds (both physical and emotional) and on and on.
I read that in past generations women were happy with a man who was a good provider and protector but today they want a soul mate. I think most men want a soul mate too but for most of us being the provider/protector has to come first especially when kids are growing up. Sadly enough it's when the kids are gone that a lot of women tell their spouse to take a hike. Hats off to those that have the patience to see what a soul mate they really have.
