Peace and Security!
by biblexaminer inwatchtower teaches that soon there will be a huge development that will be a sign for jehovah's witnesses!
5:3 the watchtower magazine, principle journal of jehovah's witnesses, writes.... however, just before that day of jehovah begins, world leaders will be saying “peace and security!” this may refer to one event or to a series of events.

Cuban Cigars
by OnTheWayOut inso mrs. otwo and i see something on television about cuban cigars.
she asks me if they are allowed into the united states.
i told her that i believe there is a softening of the rules, but they are still difficult to get.

As I lived in the DR for many many years, I know for sure most of the Cuban cigars are fake there, unless you paid 1500 pesos each. As most Americans hardly have smoked real Cubans they won't notice.
Better buy a good Dominican like Arturo Fuente than a fake Cuban.
I smoke one or two a day and buy them at www.cigarsofhabanos.com , cheap and reliable. I am pretty sure that if you ask them they will take of the brand.

Question about visiting bethel ... akward moment at the end
by nevaagain insince there a couple of ex-bethelites here, and a lot of people from the greater ny area who have probably visited the bethel in brooklyn and patterson many times, maybe they can shed some light into this curious question we (my wife and me) have for awhile.. so a couple of years ago, we happaned to be in the states and also went to visit the bethels in brooklyn and patterson.
we had the full package, what i mean is, not only we took the tour, but we also had someone to invite us for lunch.
while we wanted to enjoy our stay there, there was always a weird feeling being there.

Sometimes they receive loads of certain articles, and they make lunch and dinner with it.
I remember one summer month we ate corn day and night, pigfood.

Billy. From what I remember the so called " full package" or special tour, which has nothing to do with lunch, was never given to regular publishers, but just to special service people. Bethelites, missionaries, co and sp's
Funny you mentioned the clock....a lot of space for an electric thing.

I am afraid I don't remember Rutherford giving a tour in Brooklyn. Wasn't that the point of TS...tipping the Tour-guide? -

They expected a nice tip, believe me. And why not? We lived like beggars.
I remember the italian/american family visiting our missionary-home, with three kids, sent by the bloody branch on a saturday afternoon. Canceling all bible-studies. They were " checking where to serve the need was greater". My ass. First needed to loose fifty pounds a piece to walk whole day in the tropical Sun.
Anyway we made pizza and a bunch of pasta for the whole 1000 pounds group, they didn't even help with the dishes.

Midweek meeting
by loneranger inalmost two months into the change in format of the mid week meeting from the school and service meeting format to the christian life and ministry (clam) format.
in my congregation, seems attendance is down 10-15% over the normally low attendance for the mid week meeting before the change.
some indicate that the meeting under the clam format is very "intense"...you really need to study and research to be able to participate or get anything out of the meetings.

Yes, the the theocratic school was the only one you never got a diploma or graduated from.
