Is this a normal JW practice? Warning, this will be a bit graphic.
by Sequoia inthis post may be disturbing and i apologize, but i'm just trying to find out if this is a practice the jw teaches.
i was taken advantage of by a guy claiming to be a jw preacher.
he took me to his house supposedly so i could give his daughter piano lessons, and then he basically forced himself on me while telling me he was in love with me and wanted to marry me.

What is Gilead's current curriculum?
by careful insome years back alltimejeff reported on what gilead's curriculum was like from a guy who had gone thru it.
it was detailed and enlightening for those of us in the dark.
(hey, atj, are you still checking in here?).

Fed up quickly 😀 It was a night-mare for me too. Mostly the CO-missionaries in the home. Old, so frustrated. New, so sick all the time. Very few moments of laughing.
p.s. I served in the dominican republic. 1999-2000 Brooklyn and Patterson.

If the WT is a "money making machine"...who gets the money?
by NikL ini've seen claims over the years that wt is in the real estate, book publishing business and is a for profit enterprise at it's core.. can those of you that believe this to be the case tell me who benefits from all this wealth?.
the governing body lives in relatively humble conditions no?.
i've been curious about this for a while.

You are talking about a Piper worth a 200.000, donated by a rich brother to make preaching easier in Alaska.
GB members do live humble it is like Richard said, every member has a humble room in Patterson (I staid for two week in Barr's room, old fashioned cheap furniture) and they are guest-rooms when they are not there.
That some have nice rooms or had, in Brooklyn had to do with seniority.
I don't know why some here just don't believe people that have lived and worked at branches, missionary-homes and the HQ. Is it so difficult to accept that it is not about money nor easy life? Who would like to be in the shoes of any GB member at their ages? Getting up every single day at 6, and travelling around the world?

We have everything from VARG VEUM. An older serie but very good. Then WALLANDER, the swedish version is very good as well. I Personally think the swedish make the best although VARG VEUM IS Norwegian. Dannish sounds very rough.

Question on the Special Order... document and its implications
by careful inseveral times on this forum posts have been made about the "order of special full-time servants" in the wts and the document that must be signed by those entering it, bethelites, cos, and so on.
the reason given for the whole thing has usually been for tax purposes, that by signing this document full-timers become exempt from taxation by belonging to this special group.
basically then, end of story.. however, there is a clause in said document stating that any money made by the full-time worker beyond the allowance given by the society has to be turned over to the society.

It might depend on the country...when we were SP in the Netherlands I worked about 8 hours a week otherwise we would have starved, most SP did the same. I knew a Bethelite who had a running business , never talked about handing over money.
In missionary-service we saved up our 28 days (missionaries have always an extra 14 days) to go back and do night-shifts to buy a car or so. Nobody ever asked or commented about it.
