In particular to all the New ones. Wow it's great to have so many fresh X'ers or X'ers soon to be visiting and posting here, WELCOME! I was a regular poster here from the start of this board while witnesses.net and the original H20 were still active. I say this not to boast in any way but to make a point and an observation. For a long time while only the above said boards were up and running, many of us who were freshly discovering the "truth about the truth" wished for a board like this one . Many like myself felt that Wit.net was for the witness braindead but that H2O was full of "godless apostates" or so it seemed at the time:). Now look at this board it sounds like a bunch of "brothers and sisters" getting their brains back but still possess enough of that "new personality" to discuss many things anti-WTS,and yet not sound like 'worldlings' or X'ers with an axe to grind!
The point is...this board has a good environment for those witnesses who have or will muster enough courage to check out non-WTS approved sites and not have to feel like they have landed in a pit of poisonous
"apostates". (smile)Just to use some JW lingo:

if we have gained our present understanding of the bible by feeding at the table set by the slave, if we have been thereby freed from false doctrines and built up in the clean and undefiled worship of god and given a new world hope, we should have some confidence in the slaves provisions.

This is a board where witnesses and others can voice there concerns freely without fear of reprisal.What role should the WTS play?
The Society makes the extraordinary claim to be God's channel on the earth. Actually they insist to be the one and only to speak in the name of Jehovah. So for a long time I prided myself with possessing exclusive information as if from God himself. For example;
I was taught that the 'time of the end' was close at hand. In fact for decades we preached that the generation that remembered 1914 would see the accomplished end of Satan's old system of things.So I asked myself did or did not Jehovah speak these words because time was running out on the truthfulness of this occuring.I don't know if you are aware of this but about 6 years ago or in 1995 suddenly they changed this teaching.So I ask you who is resposible for having spoken presumptuously a falsehood in God's Name?The scriptures themselves answer;
Deut 18:22... when the prophet speaks in the name of Jehovah and the word does not occur or come true, that is the word that Jehovah did not speak. With presumputousness the prophet spoke it.vs 20 adds...that prophet must die.
Clearly the WTS should not play the role of God's Prophet not directly nor indirectly. At best they should offer a place for research and study God's word independant of private interpretation.

Good question. You will be shocked at the honest answer. We,that is Jehovahs Witnesses believe that ours is the ONLY true religion.ALL other religions (with NO exception) are False religion.All so-called Christian religions (aside from ours) are an apostacy from the Christianty as believed and practiced by the first century disciples of Jesus Christ. We believe to alone have God's exclusive approval. We alone are God's Organization. We alone are God's people. We alone shall inherit God's promises. All others religions are part of Satan's visible organization. All other religions are part of Babylon the Great, the empire of flase religion. Soon Jehovah will destroy ALL false religion by means of the United Nations. Here is the main point in answer to your question: God is now issuing a warning to all peoples of the earth by means of JW's that they should Flee,or get out of Babylon the Great the empire of false religion. Those found supporting false religion even if indirectly shall be destroyed.We feel that anyone willingly having any contact will false religion is touching an unclean thing, something detestable to Jehovah. So although some witnesses could choose to simply walk into a church (as in a funeral for family )many prefer to stay clear of anything to do with the churches of the world. Our loyalty is to God first and NOT to parents.
Please read Revelations chapter 18 and any related Watchtower publication for 'OUR' interpretaion of those scriptures.To put it briefly,

Just as Happytobefree and others have said...be fair with yourself and others. Give yourself and others all the time required to get a grip. TIME is your greatest allie. Believe US the sun will shine on all your troubles. We were created with the POWER of reason. Take your time and work things out slowly. There is No need to rush. One issue at a time. There is a price to pay for freedom and each of us will have to pay. BUT it's worth it! Stick it out things will get easier and you will be glad to have toughed it out.

I agree with you that serving God should be a natural and uplifting experience.Not a burden or ritual as we are made to feel by all the legalistic demands of a publishing corporation like the Society has proved itself to be!
I was just pondering this thought today.How is it that As JW's we claim that Jehovah wants our service to come from a willing spirit, out of our own hearts desire and free choice.
Yet according to the Society it appears Jah is not only demanding we serve Him but is spelling out in great detail what are the terms and conditions that He will accept!
Of which door to door knocking, attending 5 meetings/week and studing WT publications all the time are number one, top of the list.How can we say we are doing these things of our own initiatve and love for God when infact we have no liberty to choose what it is we would like to do for God?
On the other hand most 'wordly' people know nothing of all these demands and pre-requisits but will do works of human kindness and charity when they feel their heart compeled to do so. God does not need to ask or force these ones, instead they do so willingly,without compulsion. They do these works not because it is asked but because they freely choose to do so from their own initiative and reasonings.
Despite this we are told by the WTS that God does not accept such offerings,that they are not doing his Will, and that therefore no matter how small or great their good deeds all that 'God' will give in return is destruction!
Sheesh, all I can say is..PooWee on the WatchTower Society!!!

Excellent comments so far for you, follow them religiously- pun intended- and you will do fine. Don't let the negative side of your brain drive you crazy! Listen to all the positive thoughts your mind body and spirit are telling you - literally. Deep down you know how you feel and now it's time to be brutally honest with yourself. Just remind yourself that no matter what happens you can handle it because you ARE strong and ARE worth it.
Everyone wonders if there is life after the WT, guess what there is a beautiful, wonderful life of opportunities, experiences and love waiting to be explored. Go for it, if that's what you really want.
Of course alot of the WT stuff like much of the moral and ethical virtues that we have learned were not a waste of time but that we will continue to use through out our life.However for me, for my emotional,physical, mental,financial and yes spiritual self-growth it was time to leave the prison bonds of the WTS.With time you will find that there is much to fill the 'void' created by slowly leaving watchtower life.

Who really is the FDS?!?!?!?!?
by LDH inhey all, hope you're having a great year so far.. before witnet was closed down, there was an interesting discussion regarding the fds and their failed prophecies.
i asked a question, but unfortunately there wasn't enought time to get everyone's view.. so i'll rephrase my posts, and wait to hear from y'all.. if we are so quick to say that the fds is a false prophet because of some failed prophecies (even tho they say they don't prophecy, we all know better) then how would you explain the bible book of jonah?.
a faithful prophet, jonah, followed (after much trial and tribulation to himself) jehovah's command to declare destruction on the city of nineveh.

What does this example mean, if anything, in relation to the FDS? How much of what they have 'changed their minds' is REALLY Jehovah changing his mind, and not telling anyone?!?!?!

I am. I mean it's not as if Jehovah reveals himself only in riddles? Does He?My human mind tells me that God can communicate in terms that my human mind understands. If Jehovah changed his mind I would expect that He would tell me as much. Even if it were through a FDS class.
Had I been a citizen of Nineveh I would have listened to Jonah's explaination and no doubt could distinguish the ring of truth in his confession as to whether or not he was were honest or being less than truthful and/or lying,covering up, deceitful etc.Why is it no member of the FDS tells it as it is? At assemblies for example or on the net? Have you ever with your own ears heard any reasonable explaination as to why the errors/changes, etc?
I wish they could be like Jonah and walk away from their assignment as a sign of disgust with Jehovah changing his mind and causing all those embarrasing failed predictions i.e. 1914,1925,1975 etc,etc. I wish any one of them could do what your doing right now by asking these questions in public, I would have had respect for them. Instead they let the inferior 'great crowd' class do their dirty work by dishing out what amounts to 'excuses in due season'.
Had any of them taken the sort of decisive action that Jonah took by telling it like it is this would have truly identified them as faithful and discreet slaves of God!
Come to think of it one GB member did. Former member Ray Franz,he alone came out and has informed people what a jackass the GB were making God out to be including themselves.
