i have been wondering of late about the extent to which jwn's minions (one of whom i am beginning to see myself to some extent) differentiate the machine from its parts.

what i mean is, what degree of separation is discerned between the watchtower bible and tract society and its individual members?.

henry milner, who is a polical scientist at the university of montreal, posits that those who rely heavily on the internet for their information ultimately become dogmatic.

I believe the time has come to indulge ourselves with pitiful thoughts for all are within the clutches of fruitless and unfounded promises. I for one have no bitter feelings to any of them, although I disagree profoundly with their teaching on blood, shunning, and separatism.

Perhaps now the time has come to leave them well alone, free our minds of the enslavement that we were subjected to. There are extremely intelligent people on this site, who give well thought out arguments, and embrace in constructive debate, however the fuel of fire will always blaze brightly whilst we continue to over analyse what we all deep down know to be a load of cultish crap.

How do you handle ... being shunned?

my da announcement was last tuesday, so i have been on the official jw shun list for about a week now.... i am curious how you handle shunning.my situation:.

i have spoken with my family (my parents and 1 brother) and discussed whether they will shun me.

i explained that biblically they should not shun me since i am not an antichrist, and i have not rejected the teaching that jesus cam in the flesh.

I see your point over this one. All I am trying to say is that I personally find it quite frustrating that people on this website will not stand tall for their believes. When I left the Org, I left everything behind, 30 years of friends and family..

I do not consider myself a wicked person, in fact if the Elders were to judge me today, they would not find any grounds to DS me.

Today's public talk - emotional manipulation

so i'm sitting in the kh today, and the speaker is really pretty good.

he's one of those really kind, in-it-for-others type of guys and it really comes through in his talk.

he starts reading scriptures about how j is near to those crushed in spirit, and how j will hear our cries for help.. and because we've been through the wringer with elders in the past, all the hurt that i thought i put behind me comes roaring back with a vengeance.

I was touched by your post, and have not for some time responded to anything on this site. However I felt compelled to respond to your question. It is going to be difficult for you, especially with former close friends and family. There is not going to be an easy answer to this. Remember you have been induced in the truth some time.

My only advice is learn to live with it, suck it up - as they say in the US.

You will go through a lot of emotion for the next few years. Positve and negative. But remember you are better than everyone of them, because you are no longer enslaved to their way of thinking, you are a free spirit to think and analise matters for yourself. They are the sad ones, 60% of them would love to do what you have done, but they are scarred stiff, just look at this site alone, half of the lurkers are scarrrrrrrrred to give thier real names, I find it all very very sad really.

But there you go, and good luck to you.

the tribulation is really starting to speed up it's pace.

i just read that atleast 3 types of animal and plant life go extinct every hour.

global warming threatens the entire planet, crimes against women and children are at a all time high, honeybees dying off for unexplained reasons, the threat of nuclear war, the ravage of infectious disease.

many witnesses left school in the 70s with no formal qualifications.

my question therefore is 2 fold.. 1. what would you have liked to become as far as your career is concerned?.
