I think some of these countries may have to go through an Islamist/theocracy phase first. That is what happened in Iran with its revolution. Islamists coopted the liberal elements. Those people don't want to live in a theocracy anymore.

If there is no QE3 markets will melt as it was the Fed who supported the market rebound.
Yup. The markets are manipulated.
Also, since the Fed was supporting the treasuries and with QE2 ending the markets are moving lower as the bankers pull their profits and move into the treasuries and cash which both support the dollar temporarily.
I suspect the Fed will be doing a back door QE3 soon by putting a cap on Treasury yields in the short end of the curve. It won't be called QE3, it will be an "Operation Twist" redux.

First wave was the masses lost their assets in housing, the next will be those saving dollars in the banks. Once debt bubble bursts I can see hyperinflation and a possible civil war but that's still years away IMO.
Hard to predict. Things can move faster than we think, or this thing could still have enough life support to run for a while...and don't discount black swan events like what happened in Japan.
One more thing, while I like silver bullion too, silver can get hit hard at first since it is semi-precious and it's not on the same level as gold.
Silver took a dump at the end of April when they, ahem, raised margin requirements. More manipulation. It's rigged. However, the Gold/Silver ratio is way below its historic levels. If a reversion to the historic ratio happens, silver would go up to $90 at the current price of gold.

The collapse is ongoing. Things might get dicey this summer, but I think we will hit the big dip next year, but who knows? The timing is hard to do. Maybe it will be this year.
I agree a lot with WTWizard, except for the last paragraph. However, a currency can take a lot of abuse before hyperinflation can set in. The US$ has been insulated a great deal by being the global reserve currency.

Off Topic
by Berengaria inyes woods we were off topic.
and a serious topic it is too.
i do feel that prodigal son and my posts were on topic, in a broader sense.. as for the formula one heiress, i find it an indication of something very very wrong in this world..

You got most of it right. However I think you are smarter than to think that this administration has a damn thing to do with it. This is systemic, and it's happening in many parts of the world, as evidenced in the op on the other thread.
You and yours love to say it's the governments fault, the government is evil, it should be "reduced to the size where it can be dragged into the bathroom and drowned in the bathtub". But you never look at who is controlling the government. Follow the money, the government is simply a tool given us by the founding fathers. Who warned us that it could be used by monopolies, bankers, and corporations to our detriment, if we let it. Well, we are and have been for at least 30 years.
Off topic AND wrong thread, AND an ignorant response in many ways (because it misidentifies the root of the problem).
Congrats, you've hit the trifecta of stupidity. The only thing that could have helped is a picture of a WT publication.

OVER ONE MILLION GREEKS ON THE STREETS PROTESTING TODAY...
by JustHuman14 inmore than one million people are out in the streets today in athens, greece, protesting against the new financial measures that the government is trying to pass.. the building of the greek parliament is blocked by protesters.
situation started to get bad, since the police had a clash with a group of "anarchist".
i guess we are all anarchists in greece, since we are looking for a better future for us and our children.. the corrupted governments that ruled this country from 1974, when dictatorship ended, have lead to poverty 11 million greeks.

Socialism only works until you run out of other peoples money. So the Greeks had a debt party to pay for it, and now the party is over. Sure the banksters enabled it, but they are to blame too. Sound familiar? Don't believe the 14 trillion dollar US debt numbers. The real number is close to 100 trillion.

Should the U.S. and other European nations loan more money to the Greek government so that they can continue the social programs for another six months or so?
Obama has said that he wants to do this.
He is throwing the money away. Greece will default. Their government bonds have skyrocketed to over 28% today. Their bank ratings are being viciously cut to junk status.
Everything is playing out very similar to what happened in the 1930s when we propped up the German banks.

Our deliverance is near!! Come Jehovah, come!! I pray for our brothers over there. The other people, not so much, but I hope Jehovah protects our brothers and sisters in Greece. Pretty soon all the wordly people in Greece will have to learn who Jehovah is, then the people in Greece will be in hot Grease!
Maybe Petros the Publisher should be in the crowd handing out tracts and the local Kingdom Hall schedule. Some of those people are probably ripe for a cult with all the answers.

Huh, I thought they were just people who wanted to work and live, who've been pushed too far.
No, they are fascists and communists. The Greeks are, I am sorry to say, getting what they paid for. A lot of them are hypocrites, just like a lot of Americans are hypocrites.
People get the leaders they deserve. For decades they took the government cheese, (entitlement programs, social safety nets, special status for unions, crony jobs, crony business/political alliances, and special arrangements made through corrupt contacts) and looked the other way over how it was getting paid for. They wanted politicians that would give the little man stuff for free and they didn't care how it worked. It was short sighted. Any politician honest enough to point it out (as if) and who dared to argue for sound money, financial reform, and fiscal conservatism was run out of office on a rail. People like Ron Paul don't stand a chance for the Presidency here. People don't want the truth. People want to believe comfortable fantasies and will vote for those that give it to them.
