What say you Christians ???
by wobble init seems to me that most, if not all christians are really hung up on sin and redemption from sin and how naturally evil we all are.. my question, and observation is this : i had nothing to do with whatever you say adam and eve did wrong, i have always, throughout my life, treated whoever i came into contact with compassion, respect and love.. i have lived by the golden rule.. not many people, hand on heart, can say that, i can.. so, is your god going to judge me for the "sin" of some mythical forebears of mine ?
is he going to say that , because i did not believe in him, i willl be judged adversely, even though i lived by the precepts he is supposed to support ?.
all i can say is, if your god is like that, i refuse to worship or acknowledge him.. and i certainly do not want to get to know him.

wobble you make an astute point about the fundamental nature of Christianity. The concept of "original sin" and the resulting need for redemption, or salvation, is at the core of Christian belief. When I think of a Christian's path to salvation I often think of the word "grace".
I find this a fascinating contrast with another major world religion, Islam. Christians believe that they can never earn salvation - because of their sinful state, it is only the undeserved kindness, or grace, of God that can save them. Muslims believe that submission to god is the key to salvation. God is not portrayed as loving and forgiving as much as he is portrayed as all powerful, all worthy, and deserving of absolute submission. Muslims bear witness to the oneness of god, and the need to submit to him, while Christians stress the forgiveness, and grace, of god.

Hey Snowboarder,
Good luck on your plan to run for the Bosnian presidency after 2014!
I am not an expert on the Balkans; indeed, it is a very complicated region. One thing I've noticed, though, is that it is usually Serbians who have fond memories of Yugoslavia, and who wish to see it re-united once again. Despite the fact that Josep Broz Tito was an ethnic Croat, Serbians, as the largest ethnic group, had the upper hand in the former Yugoslavia. I have no doubt that the vast majority of people in the Republic Srpska portion of Bosnia would love to be re-united with Serbia, or become a part of "Yugoslavia" once more. However, it will never happen. Why? Because the vast majority of Bosniacs would never allow it. Neither would the vast majority of Croats, Slovenians, and Albanians for that matter.
Think about it. Serbia was unable to keep even its "heart", Kosovo. Kosovo's population is now more than 90% ethnic Albanian.
If you were successful in your bid for the presidency, you may be able to push for the "Republic Srpska" portion of Bosnia to secede and join with Serbia, forming a "Greater" Serbia, or, if you will, a "Mini Yugoslavia". But I doubt even that would happen, because Bosniacs would fight it tooth and nail.
I remember when I was visiting Sarajevo I asked an ethnic Bosniac girl what she thought about Kosovo seceding from Serbia. Her response was something like "Well, anything that makes Serbia smaller is good for us".

Hello
by Chariklo ini am new to this site, just finding my way around.. i've been studying with jw's for about 15 months.
i'm an unbaptised publisher, and until recently never missed a meeting, have been out "on the service" quite a lot.
i've been having difficulties with one of the jw's studying with me and something happened which was just unacceptable.

PROTESTS AT WATCHTOWER CONVENTIONS
by Lawrence Hughes indear friends,.
as you may know, the watchtower society takes great pride in its district conventions.
please contact me if you can attend any of these protests.. there is no reason why every district convention in the world could not have a protest and receive media coverage to expose the watchtower society.

Good point Angharad...I didn't actually mean that Lawrence Hughes WAS, or could be, Johnny the Bethelite. I just meant that like Johnny the Bethelite, someone could say they are "Lawrence Hughes", or say they are in Bethel, when in fact it isn't true. But you are right, it is quite an insult to refer to someone as the epitome of falsehood and charade, namely, Johnny the Bethelite. Will be careful in future.

good point. It could be Johnny the Bethelite for all we know...
Funny you should mention that...I thought of Johnny the Bethelite as well...it does seem a bit strange that if in fact Lawrence was banned from this forum, he would let him back in again.

Rick,
Some on this forum may find it rather ironic and slightly humorous that you spelled "buffoon" wrong :)

I must say goodbye to you all......
by Mr. Falcon inthe fine spiritual information that i recieved at the convention has made an impact on this bitter heart.
i came to realize that what i thought was logical was nothing more than my imperfect heart seeking to be rebellious.
i was so wrong!

Seeking your input
by Victor_E ini'm doing research for an article of writing on why jw's are clinging on to the religion regarless of the pain and dysfunction.
those of you that remember me know i have written on this subject for many years.
i have not written an article on this topic for over nine years and i wanted to create a relevant post based on the current dynamics and theology.

Hey Victor,
They all sound like reasonable and truthful points to me.
