The KH in my locale has HVAC vents under concrete slab. I will one day take a pack of wrapped pork spare ribs and slide them between vents. In a few weeks or months there will be some kind of stank in that hall, if I get an update once it gets discovered and the disgust and puking that happens, I'll likely bust my insides with laughter! -

But it's obvious especially with Lett most of his cranial cavity is hollow.....I bet even the voices he hears in his head bounce around so much it's like he's in a crowded mall -

Any funny stories of when a"brother" giving a talk, said something "funny" or "questionable", and didn't even realize it?
by Dunedain inthere were always all types of speakers in the org.
myself, growing up a "witness", must have heard all types of talks, and given by all manner of speakers, especially on sundays, when almost every week we would get a "visiting" brother giving the public talk.. sometimes, you would have a "great" speaker, all fluent and animated.
other times we would get a comical speaker, one who would maybe purposelly get a few laughs outta the audience.

Had a DO who seemed pretty arrogant and aloof giving a talk, toward the end of an assembly day, he said, when he was feeling under the weather, he would lay in bed, with his hat hung on his bed post, his wife, to make him feel better, would bring him glasses of brandy until instead of one hat hanging on his bed post he saw two hats.....I looked around at the giddy onlookers and thought, "my god this dude just told us he sits in bed and gets tanked when he's sick!"
Same DO, same day ended with prayer, adding a little advertisement into it for the flowers on stage by saying" we thank you too Jehovah for the beautiful flowers on stage here......which are available to be taken by those who offer a small donation"
Thanks brother Gaskin for those priceless quips!
Another DO was giving a talk relating a story of some sister who got knocked up by some "scumbag" who left her after finding out she was pregnant.
Scumbag = used condom, pretty "rated r" language from the platform.
I was like, "really? I wonder how the dude would feel right now if he was in this audience hearing himself described as a "scumbag?"
Thanks brother Wells for that!

Is Lying a Disfellowshipping offence?
by stuckinarut2 inso, if lying or being deliberately misleading is a "disfellowshipping" offence, why haven't the brothers who lied to the australian royal commission been brought before a judicial committee?
?.
-
Lied2NoMore
No, definite no!
I heard about a DFing that was overturned on appeal due to lying not a DFing offense, so no.
BUT we all know how WT works, if we want you out, we will find a way dammt!

I have to say, I wish I was with my dad when he died, somehow I think it would have helped me.
But my one and only dying wish is that my baby girl is right there holding my hand when I go. You gave your mom everything she could have hoped for at that moment.
Good son!
So sorry for your loss.

I noted Dean Bourne listed by more than a few, I grew up with them, they stayed in our home when he was a CO, went to the same KH for several years. He was a good friend of my dad. Good man, large heart, riveting speaker. -

Ha ha, when I was an MS I was encouraged to sign up for RBC, the recruiter that hounded me kept repeating the term "sacred service" over and over when I said I still wanted to allow time for field ministry while on RBC, he wouldn't come right out and say it, but he was trying to convey the idea via "coded language" that time spent on RBC could be counted on my time slip. That's when I started allowing myself to count time getting ready for the "recruiting work" all thru breaks and until I got home. Counting time became just a monthly entry to keep status as an MS to me. -

The Witnesses Are Really Trying Hard To Get Me Back In
by minimus inat my mom's bed side all i see is either jw family or friends making a concerted effort to have me return to their fold.
evidentlyy, my mom has encouraged this and i'm a trapped prisoner, as they do their best to have me come back.
it's bad enough that i have to endure my mom's dying, now i have to be bombarded with this bs..

This may be your golden opportunity! My dad died in 2011 after heart surgery and his staunch refusal of blood that he desperately needed. Without going into too much detail he basically lost all blood during surgery and had such low hemoglobin they wouldn't even draw blood for a sample to run tests to find out why some things weren't working how they should.
He never made it out of intensive care.
I was shaken to the point of several nervous breakdowns after and the experience was the final straw that woke me completely.
I used my mental state to first go inactive, then quit as an MS, then quit meetings altogether.
I am left alone largely because I used my time of grief as a stepping stone to inactivity.
I was genuinely uber distraught but I think now I am viewed as still fragile but I can genuinely say I am very content, very at peace, much happier not being part of the WT cult, very comfortable with calling the WT a cult where as early on I was hesitant to go that far.
Maybe my point is you can use the loss to keep elders and others away from you and their harassment.
At one point I went as far as filing a police report for harassment on two elders that came knocking two days in a row. They don't dare come ask me to meet with them any longer.
Maybe you could use same tactics?
Wish you all my best with what your enduring. Take care!
