The first book I picked up after becoming an atheist was the latest iteration of the Life - How Did It Get here. In the first three chapters I scribbled 20 comments in the margin, containing rebuttals and pointing out fallacies and quote mines. I stopped at some point because my surprise about all the bullshit started turning into anger about the pure lies and deception they are putting people through.

What is the most offensive/idiotic piece of WT literature you've read from the past 20 years (approximately)?
by Chemical Emotions ini think that some of the dumbest were ones that pertained to science- not all of them, but a few, particularly the ones about evolution.
the most offensive (and also dumbest) were the ones about women, and the ones about rape.
those were horrible.

Michael Jackson Music and WT Doctrine
by discreetslave inwith the disgust i feel over the betrayal of the wbts i've started listening to michael jackson.
pre jw as a child i loved mj i remember listening to his music thru some rough times at home.
when i became a jw i no longer listened to his music since he was da.

In that case I wonder what he meant to say about the WTS in Billy Jean. Honestly, I think you're grasping here. The guy was a believing Jehovah's Witness (though not active), and Janet Jackson was even more serious. This leads me to think that they are not, in fact, deriding the WTS in any way.

Do humans like confrontation?
by TimothyT ini was just thinking about this very question.. i now havnt been to meetings for a long time and i have received no calls since telling the elders to leave me alone 3 weeks ago.. the past 3 weeks have been a lovely, peaceful, enjoyable, stress-free 3 weeks - no doubts there!.
but why is it that i can feel a part of me that wants them to call me?.
why do i feel that i want someone to stir something up so i can tell them to get lost?.

Lore nailed it.
It's a bit of revenge and a bit of anger for what they did to us. They have ruled over us all this time - now it's get the power back, show them that we do not acknowledge their majesty. Our mind is a territory and by doing this we're marking it.

I have question about the new light on the statues toes
by Igot2bme inmy son went to the dc this past weekend and we visited on the phone for a bit about what he picked up there.
he of course was sad and worried for us because we no longer have anything to do with the org.
we covered alot of issues that had to do with why i felt that the org did not have gods holy spirit.

@NRFG: Brilliant.
@lgot2bme: I think it's one of those "armageddon is not around the corner, we have TURNED the corner!" and "it's not within armreach, it's within our eyelids!" -things.

Darkmatter has some hilarious videoclips (aside from this mindblowing one, obviously).
The best answer to this, however, is (in my personal opinion) Douglas Adams' puddle that wakes up one morning and thinks that the hole he lives in must be made for him since it fits him so perfectly.

Do you believe in an annointed class?
by irondork inregarless of their identity - in fact, if they are really "discreet" their identity should probably remain unknown - do you believe the bible speaks of a spirit annointed class of folks, a limited number of humans that have been called to heaven to serve with jesus?.

dm6, believing you are being judged in a body of energy by a deity from the polytheistic Canaanite pantheon rather than being judged in a body of matter is not actually more or less sensible, as it's both utter nonsense.

i dont think most jehovahs witnesses realize how easy they have it when it comes to gift giving.

I was always a loner, but when it came to family it was quite easy. If I wanted something, all I had to do was ask my parents, and they'd just give it to me. Hell, I remember wanting a gamepad for my PC. I was short ten guilders (pre-euro times) and my parents just said: "Spend your money on something else you like. This one is on us."
I never was that demanding, and they usually had to come up with the idea of gifting me shit, so this was never an issue in my life.

to the making of many books is worrisom!
by TheLoveDoctor into the making of many books is worrisome as the bible says yet the last time we received a ypa book it was 2008 volume 1, 2 now this weekend we received volume 1 revised.
wow and so many are excited about us killing so many trees to repeat the same thing over and over again.
i need to vent a bit and could easily get on to many issues of wtbts and its goober body.

Is the Society doing an extra "push" for Field Service this year?
by donny inmaybe it is just the area i am in, but i have run into more jw's in field service this year than the last 7 or 8 combined.
i have had three visits to my house, one for the memorial, one for a special talk and one for the convention.
and yesterday was the 5th time this year i have been approached while out for my daily walk/run and given a tract or magazine.

In our congregation they usually started pushing when there were five saturdays in a month.
