So Spill the Beans, Brothers: Were There More or Fewer At this Year's Bore-Fest
by steve2 inthe jw date-worshipped memorial has just completed its bleak worldwide commemoration.
that wasn't a dust cloud you saw; it was a millionfold hearts limply beating themselves into another round of great tribulation expectations.
i was knocked into a deep, deep sleep by the imagined experience of being at several thousand consecutive kingdom halls as the platformed drones spat forth the predictable sludge that, once released, hits and stains white clothing and bleach is useless.. we know that memorial attendance worldwide has dipped for two consecutive years since 2011 when it reached a high of 19,374,737 and for the promised land, obama's usa, the all time memorial attendance high was also 2011 when it hit over 2.5million (2,563,518) but shrunk in shame back to 2,502,055 in 2012 and spluttered upwards a handful or two to 2,504,114 last year.. so, what was attendance at the date-obsessed bore-fest this year in your neck of the woods?

What a wonderful age in which to live
by fulltimestudent inwhen i was young ( quite a while ago now) an old lady lived near us.
sadly for her, she had had surgery to remove her whole nose and what was fitted with a very obvious prosthetic nose, a nose that was instant fascination for small boys, who would often jeer at her.
i called her to mind and the difficulty she likely faced whenever she went out when i read this report.. scientists grow cartilage to reconstruct nose.

Medical advances are truly remarkable. In my area, there was a story on FOX8 news "Cleveland Doctors Studying Stem Cells with Success" (sorry, I don't know how to post a link) back on Feb 5, 2014, it told how stem cell research is advancing treatment for MS. Click on the Kym Sellers video link for a heartwarming story. They did a recent update on her and she has started showing improvement. Yes, amazing. I like to tell any JW who says times are so bad, REALLY? REALLY? And what other time would you prefer to live in, the time when not so long ago children died from common childhood diseases like measles or when parents and children feared polio? (And don't even get us started on social issues).
Yes, medical advances are wonderful. My husband had a hernia repair 25 years ago that laid him low for several days. Two years ago he had "the other side done" ha, ha, that's they way they put it, and it was done with a laser, very non-evasive, quick recovery and less likely to reoccur than the procedure from 25 years ago. I know that is a minor case compared to advances in cancer treatment, heart surgery, etc, but that is just an example of what is being done by people who got a higher education and care about making life on this earth better NOW and not waiting for a pie in the sky that has been just around the corner for over a hundred years!

Dysfunctional JWs? Isn't that a redundant repetitive phrase?

Is this new donation arrangement for real?
by nugget injust read a post on jwsurvey about the new donation arrangement.
congregations are to pledge a monthly amount to be sent to the society to fund the building of assembly halls and kingdom halls.
congregations who already have a loan from the society will no longer have to pay back the loan but the amount pledged should not be less than the current monthly repayments to the society.

This is so sad. When will otherwise intelligent people (like my family ) wake up? Are they not paying attention, have their brain cells all withered and are no longer capable of reasoning? Guess this is some of what they were being prepared for when they were told to obey whether it makes sense or not.

Yeah, I am a pet/house sitter. Checking the client's mailbox this last weekend, found one tucked between mailbox and house. I NEVER throw anything away that my client receives, but, well yes, I made an exception with this. It really is stupid to invite the public "to share in the celebration" when all it consists of is listening to a boring talk and watching as some wine and crackers are passed around that no one is supposed to touch. Golly, wonder what a person would think being there for the first time and not knowing anything about JWs.

What Watchtower Belief/View Never Sat Right With You?
by minimus inbut their views on blood are just plain weird!
meat has blood in it even if it's bled.
still eating meat means consuming blood.

Blood, everyone was bad and going to be destroyed except JWs, the subjugation of women and the stupid dress code. I have not worn or owned a dress or skirt for almost 30 years now!

Jeannette: I dont know. I have watched documentaries on HAARP and don't fully understand it, but I don't think man has that much control over the weather (except for global warming, which is controversial, so I wont go into that). I think weather goes in cycles and we are unfortunately in a crappy one. I am in northeast Ohio, so as we say, if you dont like the weather, wait a minute and it will change. It is supposed to hit 60 here by Tuesday!
Maybe Terry is doing this to get us to have conversations with each other.
