I think he is giving a convoluted definition of a generation. By his reasoning, my mother and I are of the same generation, she being born in 1920 and me in 1950, 30 years apart. He has people born 40 years apart being in the same generation. The dictionary definition of a generation is all of the poeple living at the same time or approximately the same age or peer group. I dont think I was in my mother's peer group! We have a family photo of my great grandmother, grandmother, mother, and my sister holding her newborn son. We always refer to at as the 5 generations photo, not the 2 or 3 generations photo. Witnesses will twist anything to fit their dogma: facts? We dont need no stinkin' facts!

A startling example of a JW ignoring evidence
by Pyramid God ini happen to work with my father, and today we got into another debate about the origin of life.
during the debate, while rebutting a lot of creationist canards, he said that mutations are always harmful to an organism.. .
after he left i sent him a quick email with a link to talk origins on the subject of mutations.

All you have to do is Google "examples of beneficial mutations" and it brings up site after site of easy to understand examples. Witnesses dont want to hear it or see it if it goes against what WT tells them. I too have gotten to the point with my relatives that they deserve to be in this miserable religion if they continue to be so closed minded. It's like when your child says he doesnt like something, but the parent says "how do you know you dont like it if you wont try it". Witnesses wont even read anything that they think wont go along with Witness dogma. I like to tell them "you can have your own opinion, but not your own facts".

Heven't yet, but it would be totally awesome! I got excited once when minimus mentioned a circuit overseer I knew, we both had the opinion the guy was a real jerk. I would love to recognize a friend or cousin, especially, but alas, no. I'm amazed at knowing how many of us are out there, all over the world, posting and talking about the same things. I love the internet for making that possible.

Israel National News reports a most amazing story about JWs
by AndersonsInfo inhttp://www.israelnationalnews.com/news/flash.aspx/288677#.ux9165ao7l9.
court rejects missionary lawsuit against netanya schools for voiding leasethe tel aviv magistrates court has rejected a claim by a missionary group, saying that the school they had been renting space in unlawfully voided their contract , and asking the court to instruct the school to pay nis 108,000 in compensation and mental anguish, as well as legal expenses.. it began when a missionary group, via a non-profit organization called "mitzpe l'yisrael", rented space at the raziel school in netanya to conduct daily afternoon activities.
shortly after signing the rental agreement , the school authorities discovered that the group was, in reality, the notorious missionary sect of "jehovah's witnesses".

I dont mean to ask an ignorant question, but are the Witnesses hated in Israel? Is that why they had to lie to rent a space? They are called "notorious", love it!

Yes, I can understand how it would be better all around to move away from the situation, especially if children are involved. The least chance of an uncomfortable encounter the better. I wish your family all the best.
