Are the anointed really "lovely people"?

i've personally never met any of those who claim to be anointed but the other jw's who have are always unanimous in their praise of how lovely and what wonderful people they are.

and i don't mean the gb i mean common or garden anointed.

i was told that when they speak about being in heaven that they almost "seem to glow".. is this right?

Growing up in the 60s our cong had 2, elderly man and woman. Both were foreign and could speak and read English but could be barely understood when they spoke. Lady was a widow and was taken care of by family but man was alone in the world and will have to say, cong looked after him and provided him a trailer in walking distance of KH. They were in their 80s so probably were original Bible Students or whatever they were called back then. They were mostly respected because of their age I would imagine. Then I remember a couple younger unstable real nut jobs who would partake on and off. One guy was schizophrenic, thought the government was after him, spying and so forth. Even had his mail delivered to someone else's house. Sounds like that is the type mostly partaking now from the experiences here.

Update on my recently disfellowshipped niece

i had posted about a month ago that my niece, who just turned 15, was getting disfellowshipped.

i learned this past weekend that she tried to commit suicide.

between being df'd, and her dad not being around, it became too much for her.

So sorry to hear this but thank goodness she has you. Hope nothing gets in the way of your lifeline of help and communication with her.

Had a weird love-bombing throwback today......

my wife is having her first birthday party in july, and we're looking for a place to hold it.

we found an episcopal church online that offered their fellowship hall for such occasions, and we went to check it out this morning.

when we arrived they were having something in the hall and were setting up for it.

What a sweet thought: "Most people never remember their first birthday", but your wife will get to remember hers! 🎂 Happy early birthday to her.

I wonder what, 20 or so years down the road, the people (can't call them actors) who participated in this video will be thinking. Think any will be ashamed they took part in this fear mongering or will they be thinking WTF as they are asked to leave their accommodations at Wallkill because their youthful usefulness has run its course.

Oh man Billy, you are right, I didn't even notice the little dog, had to go back and watch that part. Guess that was a subliminal message that a true JW has no time for a pet. Wasn't that discussed here sometime before about WT "suggestion" that pets take valuable time from kingdom interests?

Holy Crap, there is just so much wrong with this! Fear mongering at it's worst. There seems to be some kind of chaos and rioting going on outside but there they all sit in their 'Sunday going to meetin' clothes. Will the men ever get to lose the freakin ties? And where the heck did a pioneer couple get the money for a beautiful home and 60" flat screen TV? But let's give it all up for a one room apartment. This is really barf worthy! 30 years from now when that couple is looking at retirement with minimal Social Security coming in they will really know what it means to get along with less!

I was reading the thread about the use of technology at the meetings, do the JW's still place the WT and Awakes ?

my mom visited recently and she is a devoted jw for 50 years now.

I don't know about most people but there is no way in hell I would open my door for someone to show me something on a tablet! I dont ever open my screen door for a salesperson, I tell them to leave it in the door if they have a piece of paper advertisement. Does anyone know what kind of reception this generally gets?

Paul, the parents of those children probably didn't buy a Watchtower when a JW knocked on their hut. Or maybe they did, so don't worry, they are receiving rich spiritual food.

New Spiritually Weak Label: Not Using Tablet/iPhone

with last night's meeting it became official: here in the states is a must to keep up with 'jehovah's org' that one fully jumps on board with this tablet/iphone crap.. so, now, all of us that up to this point have refused to follow the wtbts in their electronic/wireless revolution will deal with the browbeating from the 'spiritual' ones.. already receiving lots of grief from hubby and rest of the family/close friends when seen at the meetings with paper publications.

am i alone in this resistance???!!!.

Holy crap on a cracker!!! Do they pay attention to what they say? Create class distinctions and showy display of one's means of life? Was this before their website with broadcasts of the GB showing off their bling bling gold rings and rolex watches? Why, why, why can't people see this? They check their brains at the door!

I am so grateful for this site to keep me up on the world of all things JW. It explains so much of the goings on in my still in family members, like why sometimes there is a period of being shunned, then it seems to let up, then back to shunning, I guess at the whim of what is emphasized at the latest convention or magazine. I can now understand why a certain family member who for years joked about and flaunted a simple flip phone, adequate for caliing and texting, now has the latest iphone! When I heard about them getting it I thought huh? Why do they need that or how did they afford that? Well now I know it is practically a requirement. Guess they are just waiting for all the elderly to die off so they won't have print at all anymore. Can't really picture octogenarians sitting at the KH using an ipad or $600 smart phone! 📱
