Thanks, Danny. I see the film already played in Dallas. Darn.

a question about the "Knocking" director
by MegaDude ini get email announcing new dates for the film "knocking" which i haven't seen but understand is a positive portrayal of what jehovah's witnesses are all about.. the official email states it was directed by joel p. engardio.. i researched this man on google and it seems very likely that he is gay, which has been discussed on this board before.
i understand his mother is a jw.. now, why would a gay man make a positive film about a gay-hating religion?
mother issues anybody?

Can you imagine how the gay press and gay groups would react if they knew a gay film director had made a warm and fuzzy film about a group of religious cultists who will not speak to any gay former members of their church? Who will not tolerate gays? Who say God will slaughter all homosexuals at Armageddon?
If the film comes to Dallas I plan to ask this kind of question during the Q&A and quote the Watchtower's position on homosexuals from their literature.

Amen to the Yucatan. All of the above pics are from there, save the one with the stingray from Grand Cayman's Stingray City.

Marinade chicken tenders in your favorite marinade or dressing
grill
put aside
throw flour tortilla on grill and top with Monterrey Jack cheese
remove when cheese is melted
wrap tenders in tortilla with melted cheese
enjoy
-----------------------------
There are variations of this. My decadent version is to toothpick purple onion and fresh jalapeno to the tender and wrap with bacon and grill. The bacon seals tight to the chicken tender and keeps the veggies secure. Then repeat the above with grilling the tortilla with the Monterray Jack cheese and drop those bacon-wrapped babies into it. Man, it is soooo good with a cold beer.

Statistics show that diving with a buddy is much more dangerous than diving alone!
I would concur with this. Especially is this true when doing some of the most dangerous diving there is, such as in caves.

I'm a diver and read a lot about diving safety.
Make sure your buddy knows the "I need your air" sign.
Make sure your air on your tank is turned on before you go into the water. It's a bit obvious but you'd be surprised that experienced divers have drowned because they were too excited to do a check before they backflipped off the boat.
Then just breathe normally and consciously tell yourself to relax and have a good time. Go at your own pace, and enjoy one of the greatest experiences in nature.
My sister was so nervous when she tried it at first that she was almost phobic. But then she got comfortable and the next thing I knew she was comfortably diving at 100 feet flying in the current over a 3000 foot dropoff in Cozumel, Mexico. I'm sure you'll do just fine.

How many ex-jws move out of town to start over?
by rebel8 ini was wondering how common it is for ex-jws to relocate after leaving the borg in order to escape the bad memories of being in a cult, or to break contact with cult members.. i have wanted to move far away for as long as i can remember--even as a kid--for this purpose.
various life circumstances have delayed that--long story--but mr. rebel8 and i are thinking of moving within the next few years.
i am the one who's most interested in moving to a completely different type of place--different culture, different climate, different everything!

I chose to move.
I liked where I lived and would have been happy to stay there but my wife at that time was a JW and I felt our best shot to save the marriage was to get out of town.
Over the time we both became entrenched in our positions: me very ex-JW, she pro-JW.
She went back to where we moved from. Divorce ensued.
It was good for both of us. I met the people I needed to meet here, careerwise and spiritualwise I couldn't have been in a better place. I was just musing about this today how well my move up here to Dallas worked out for me.
And as for the ex, I think she is quite happy being a JW. Everybody should be free to make their own choices.
