I've listened to the opinions of scientists and doctors and physicists speak of why they believe in God so I don't equate believing in God as stupid or unscientific. I rather attribute the title of this thread to a bipolar narcissist going off his lithium for too long again and not having children to scream at to inflate a badly tattered ego. But I have no doubts myself that evolution is real. Seeing eyeless, albino fish in underground caves personally convinced me of that. Evolution and a belief in a god can go together quite easily IMHO. It's too bad believers and atheists bring so much historical and emotional baggage to the issue it becomes a contest of wills instead of looking at the evidence both sides bring to the table.

to me, the scene in saving private ryan - the two soldiers in the small upstairs room fighting hand to hand to the death (by stabbing).
i think that is the most disturbing thing i've seen on screen and there were plenty just in that film alone.

The premise of Open Water is very real. The couple on which the film is loosely based was left behind in shark infested waters and never seen again. There are popular dive destinations in the United States, Grand Cayman and other places where divers have been forgotten and left.

I remember my parents telling me as a child that we need to be prepared and obedient because they day might come where we will be asked to do something we don't want to do like leave our homes and live in caves/the wilderness/etc. and being obedient could mean our lives. This makes me think it's possible that the society is preparing for something, possibly the largest mass-suicide ever seen on the face of the earth, or a violent crusade.

The video circulating around the net "Saddamn Torture Video." Making prisoners, one after another, jump off a three-story building and hitting the street below. And that's the beginning.
The video made of the execution of 19 year old Russian soldier Yevgeny Rodionov and his fellow soldiers by Islamic fighters in Chechnya. Slow butchery. Utterly obscene. Evil. Depressing.

College problems for daughter
by Stopthem ini need electronic copies of anything in the watchtower or anything else speaking against college and higher education, preferably from the october 15 2005 wt and onward.
my bright, intelligent 17-year-old daughter just informed me that she's decided against going to college because of all the garbage her kingdumb hall has told her.
her mother started up going to jw about 4 years ago, and i guess i wasn't watching what they were doing to my daughter closely enough (but then, they don't want you to).

After you educate yourself about what the WT says about college, move on to other beliefs they have.
I wouldn't attack her decision, but rather flow with it. Tell her Jehovah needs good doctors, nurses, scientists, et cetera, and those all need a college education.
Does she want to skip college because she wants to be in the full-time ministry? Why? Does she believe the End is real close? Show her xeroxes of the Watchtower repeatedly picking a date for the End over its hundred plus year history. This will cripple any sense of confidence in the Society's ability to pick prophetic dates. Say you will support her decision whatever it is, but you just want her to make an informed decision.
