They are a cult. They will alert your BOE and the judicial process will begin. I hope you are prepared to lie or be disfellowshipped.

Nicely written. Nice approach to the subject. I think it will go over the head of a Jehovah's Witness though. They are an uneducated narrow minded bunch of folk.
I was listening to the public speaker yesterday thinking, "If someone challenged you on any of the subjects you are trying to speak on, you would completely crumble." Most public talks are embarrassing to listen too now.
Lack of education is big in this organization. It seems the most faithful are the biggest dummies or the most mentally unbalanced. The only exception I have seen are those who desperately want to see a dead loved one again (i.o.w. exploited).

Assembly Hall Re-Furb Australia
by jonahstourguide inso, after congs handing over all the cash, a request i believe, has been made in melbourne australia recently for a contribution box to be placed at the kingdom halls in melbourne for contributions to pay for the estimated 1.6 million dollar refurbishment of the melbourne assembly hall in melton.
i'm told by a angry attendee that the letter came from the branch in australia.
anyone else in oz hear of this ????.

It is the same in the U.S.
All the promises of LDC paying for things after the money grab have gone unfulfilled.
First they wanted all cong to have a projector and screen - cong paid for it not LDC. Then a few months back they decided that they wanted cong's to have big screen TV's instead. Again LDC nowhere to be found when the bill came.
The LDC sent an inspector team to assess our KH property. They gave us a list of things to address. Again no mention whatsoever of LDC picking up the tab.
So the org lies through their teeth and everyone just erases it from their memory.

What is harder? Making a new jw or bringing one out?
by EndofMysteries ini find it interesting how stories of people waking or bringing one out are like the opposite of jw experiences bringing one in.
maybe we should start an ex jw yearbook for experiences of those coming out haha.

I vote harder in.
Truth is on your side for getting people out. Yes they hold on stubbornly but they dont win the argument if you know your stuff. Thought stoppers and emotion are usually where you end up. You can call them out on that and it's over.
I pointed out a glaring problem in the bible to my wife 2 days ago and she had to say "I just can't think about that."
Sorry that's defeat.
Another question a few days earlier asking a damning question about the GB got a long pause - and "I don't know". Another defeat.
I haven't even brought my whole - alligators weren't created to eat sweet potatoes and boa constrictors weren't designed to squeeze cabbage to death - argument up yet. I'm letting her lick her wounds.
Lol.....

Fact : 1 We live in the 21st Century Fact : 2 Why do we tolerate Religions of yesteryear that dominate ,interfere with our progress
by smiddy inwhy in this 21st century are we still cow towing to religions that are based in the distant past, of thousands of years ago , whether it be christian islam or whatever.?
and not to restrict it to just those two , but all ancient religions.. all of them are hypocritical , on the one hand rejecting modern day society and it`s technology and on the other hand embracing it for their own advantage .. when is the human race ever going to rid itself of pie in the sky beliefs.?.

All freedoms have their limits. There were those that said snake-oil salesman had a "right" to sell bogus remedies and that the public had a "right" to buy bogus remedies. In other words, why can't people buy the placebo effect if they want to? That was the argument.
Eventually smarter minds prevailed. The lawmakers realized that people were being bamboozled and taking bogus remedies in lieu of taking legitimate medicine. So lives were being lost to line the pockets of crooks.
Similarly in religion, I think we are still in the "We have a right to purchase snake-oil" phase. The argument is that religious leaders have a right to sell whatever beliefs they want to (for the most part), and the public has a right to swallow it. Eventually I think society will realize there is a line that should be drawn on what a religion is allowed to convince people of. Or maybe it's better to say the line should be moved in some to exclude extremist views.

"Confidentiality" of Elders!
by stuckinarut2 insomething struck me the other day.. elders are told to maintain confidentiality with regard to the details of judicial cases or congregation "discipline" in an attempt to dignify individuals etc.. this is even the case for known child abusers!.
yet, if they suspect someone of being an "apostate", for instance being a member on this forum, they will spread such information far and wide, through the witness "grape vine" to congregations miles away (or even in other countries).
so, does that mean they place more importance on "apostasy" rather than child abuse?.

What LisaRose said^
An apostate is a bigger villain than Satan. Other "Sins" can be forgiven and the memory wiped clean in the magic new world.
Apostasy leads straight to the second death. Moooohahahahahaha...............

Question about 1940s Watchtower history
by slimboyfat ini was studying this fascinating composite graph of jw growth.
lots of interesting things there.

My first thought also is WWII.
I can see someone going into a concentration camp great crowd and coming out annointed.
Other persons that had similiar nightmares no doubt had their own "spiritual experiences" that left them feeling closer to God.
There's no telling what their minds had to do to cope.

WATCHTOWER'S most powerful weapon keeps the disillusioned inside
by TerryWalstrom inabsolute obedience to watchtower cult leaders is only necessary because of coercion and intimidation and the duress of having the shun gun pointed at their head for those jw's who are now awake.
the threat is as real as that of a fully loaded pistol.. .
we are all aware of friends and family who are still inside the kingdom halls with very little actual conviction that they are in the truth.

In the Spanish side is quite easy to be 'awakened', inside and still be happy because we culturally speaking are very gregarious and fun-loving, always some type of a party and we have such a good time at those occasions.
It works for me, it just does. No need for pity here.
DYExcellent point. In other words you have something to show for it other than the BS. Well from over here in Whiteville, it sucks. My congregation is nothing but drones that form cliques. Let's face it white people don't usually do anything fun besides get drunk and loud. JW's can't really do that much, so...... you are just left with boring, uneducated, stiff people that lack rhythm. LOL! .........( I'm white btw so I can poke fun)

How long can this cult remain with only kids becoming members?
by Crazyguy init's become clear that very few from outside the religion are joining anymore.
if only the kids of the people that are already in are the one replacing the members as they die off and 50% let's say of the kids leave then how long can they realistically last before the downturn becomes obvious?.
