If An Organization Really Believed It Had the Truth...
by xjwsrock in....it would not be scared of critics.
actually they would naturally take an offensive stance, wouldn't they?
they would welcome debate... even encourage it.

More misleading content on JW.org
by Anders Andersen inwhat is “the end of the world”?the phrase “the end of the world,” which appears in many bible translations, can also be rendered as “the conclusion of the system of things,” or “the close of the age.” (matthew 24:3;english standard version) it refers, not to the destruction of the earth or of all humanity, but to the end of the framework of human society.—1 john 2:17.. conveniently leaving out that according to current numbers and doctrine, 8.000.000 people will survive at max.. technically is not a destruction of all humanity....but it comes so close it deserves to be mentioned.. of course it isn't mentioned, because that would sound so extreme, cultish and unkind.
we wouldn't want people to get the right ideas about jw.organization now, would we?.

Insight Book definition of a lie:
The opposite of truth. Lying generally involves saying something false to a person who is entitled to know the truth and doing so with the intent to deceive or to injure him or another person.
So we have intent to deceive, so that means it qualifies as a lie according to their own definition.
But wait.... maybe a visitor to the website isn't entitled to the truth.

Were leading characters in the history of Judeao-Christianity suffering from psychotic symptoms?
by fulltimestudent ini don't think i've seen any reference to this academic study on this site.

ph.d, and bruce h.price,m.d.. it was published online october 01, 2012, reference link: http://dx.doi.org/10.1176/appi.neuropsych.11090214.

I have wondered that myself. I mean when voices tell you to kill your son, you need a doctor.

Thanks for the positive comments guys.
I had to get that rant off my chest.
DOC- I may be fooling myself, but I swear the org is worse than before. All these changes are nuts. Anointed demoted. GB gets a promotion. TV evangelism. Cartoons? Really? I thought starting a family showed a lack of spirituality... now we have JW cartoons and coloring books.
The ARC takes the cake, though. Surely it's easier to wake up now. Right?

2016 convention "movies". Propaganda, pure and simple....
by stuckinarut2 inno doubt all are familiar with the 2016 convention video movies being shown?.
(if you haven't seen them, go to cedars youtube channel to see them in full).
they are the most disturbing, emotionally manipulative, propaganda pieces ever seen.. thoughts?.

They are becoming more and more insular - more and more isolated and deluded. F.O.G.manipulation for days. Literally.
It's weak and it's desperate. But it pays the bills right Watchtower?
Unfortunately, I hear people saying how Jehovah is getting us ready for the Great Tribulation with this convention. When I study who is saying this though, let's just say, they aren't the sharpest tools. I think -
They are lowering the collective IQ of their membership. This convention is a good example.

....it would not be scared of critics.
Actually they would naturally take an offensive stance, wouldn't they? They would welcome debate... even encourage it. Why wouldn't you welcome debate if you could never lose? Wouldn't you find the biggest platform you could and challenge the brightest minds of your time? Wouldn't you welcome any and all media outlets? ....if you had the truth of all the universe.?...and God on your side....
In this day and age, with all the technology available, and all the appetite for news and controversy, there is no excuse for JW's to not be front and center challenging the very foundations of thought and belief. It would get coverage. People would tune in for that philosophical cage match.
Isn't that supposed to be the commission? To get the message to as many as possible?
...
Apostasy .... it's treated like some spooky silhouette over "there" in the shadows. Why? Why is it always some unnamed website....some untitled "pamphlet"....some unspecified "negative press"....some unspoken "negative talk"? Why so ambiguous? Why is it always over "there" or out "there" somewhere?
If you had the truth, you would simply name the website, show the pamphlet, specify the news story, call out the negative talk. Wouldn't you? I mean what is there to fear? Why leave it in the shadows? Why not shine a spotlight on it instead?
With all of this technology being used in the kingdom halls and assemblies, there is opportunity at their fingertips to bring up JWFACTS.com anytime they want to on the big screens, for all to see. Why don't they bring it up on the Jumbo-Tron at conventions? Isn't that what this summer's whole convention is about? Why not take a web page per talk and simply refute it with the truth? Why dance around it? Where is the faith? Where is the confidence?
Why isn't there a series of talks in the mid-week meeting addressing an apostate subject each week? each month? every other month? nothing?
.....
Many of us know the answers to these questions and they are obvious. If they had nothing to hide, if they had nothing to fear, they would take these simple, logical, straight line approaches and nip this apostasy-thing in the bud.
BUT.......they don't.
They threaten. They vilify. They slander. They lie. They resort to name-calling. They resort to fuzzy references to "attacks" from unnamed "enemies". Anything to not address the problem head on.
If you have the truth on your side........you don't act like this.
If you are crooked, if you are hiding something, if you are engaging in PR spin tactics, if you are propagandizing...... you act exactly like this.
If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck.... then I guess we know what it is.

They are a cult. They will alert your BOE and the judicial process will begin. I hope you are prepared to lie or be disfellowshipped.

Nicely written. Nice approach to the subject. I think it will go over the head of a Jehovah's Witness though. They are an uneducated narrow minded bunch of folk.
I was listening to the public speaker yesterday thinking, "If someone challenged you on any of the subjects you are trying to speak on, you would completely crumble." Most public talks are embarrassing to listen too now.
Lack of education is big in this organization. It seems the most faithful are the biggest dummies or the most mentally unbalanced. The only exception I have seen are those who desperately want to see a dead loved one again (i.o.w. exploited).

Assembly Hall Re-Furb Australia
by jonahstourguide inso, after congs handing over all the cash, a request i believe, has been made in melbourne australia recently for a contribution box to be placed at the kingdom halls in melbourne for contributions to pay for the estimated 1.6 million dollar refurbishment of the melbourne assembly hall in melton.
i'm told by a angry attendee that the letter came from the branch in australia.
anyone else in oz hear of this ????.

It is the same in the U.S.
All the promises of LDC paying for things after the money grab have gone unfulfilled.
First they wanted all cong to have a projector and screen - cong paid for it not LDC. Then a few months back they decided that they wanted cong's to have big screen TV's instead. Again LDC nowhere to be found when the bill came.
The LDC sent an inspector team to assess our KH property. They gave us a list of things to address. Again no mention whatsoever of LDC picking up the tab.
So the org lies through their teeth and everyone just erases it from their memory.

What is harder? Making a new jw or bringing one out?
by EndofMysteries ini find it interesting how stories of people waking or bringing one out are like the opposite of jw experiences bringing one in.
maybe we should start an ex jw yearbook for experiences of those coming out haha.

I vote harder in.
Truth is on your side for getting people out. Yes they hold on stubbornly but they dont win the argument if you know your stuff. Thought stoppers and emotion are usually where you end up. You can call them out on that and it's over.
I pointed out a glaring problem in the bible to my wife 2 days ago and she had to say "I just can't think about that."
Sorry that's defeat.
Another question a few days earlier asking a damning question about the GB got a long pause - and "I don't know". Another defeat.
I haven't even brought my whole - alligators weren't created to eat sweet potatoes and boa constrictors weren't designed to squeeze cabbage to death - argument up yet. I'm letting her lick her wounds.
Lol.....
