Hopefully a learned JW can answer this for me.
I have many JW friends & attended a couple of meetings.
One friend dropped by every month or so handing out pamphlets etc. and we enjoyed the visits. One Saturday I asked him who was savior and he said Jesus. Then I asked him to read the place where it says "I am Jehovah your God,,,You shall acknowlege no God but me,,,,no Savior except me"
He slammed my door & I haven't seen him since and this question still haunts me. I keep thinking that if Jesus is Savior and Jehovah is Savior they must be the same persons if only one savior is permitted according to Jehovah.
Also if Jesus is "a god" we should not be able to acknowlege him because Jehovah said to acknowlege no God but him. If an experienced JW could help me with this I greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

You are correct in sensing differences between Jesus slant & Paul's version. Jesus audience at the time was predominantly Jewish and taught as such. Paul's main mission was as the apostle to the Gentiles (most of us) and that is why he explains things a different way at times. Both messages apply of course, just directed to different groups & you are pretty sharp to have observed this. Good questions you raise. -

None of us can be part of the 144,000
That is unless we are Jews desended from one of the 12 tribes of Isreal and have the seal of the living God with his name & Jesus name on our forehead during the end times -

I did not claim to be providing accurate info on WW Church Of God break-up. If you read carefully I stated my interest was more the acceptance by mainstream Christian Churches of the new WW C of G Christian Position. My recall was that with the warm embrace of a huge number of Christians many of the former Armstrong followers came to Christ and were absorbed into the christian fold which to me is more important than the mechanics of how Armstrongs organization de-fragmented.If you also notice, I had ended my message with HOPE HOPE HOPE. My indication was that in the changes in any organization whether Russel, Rutherford, Armstrong or Protestant the followers could shed the cords of men and come to Christ. How do you feel about people who use Christ for this purpose....do you have a better way? -

Darn you anyway! You always come up with a way to make me have to stop and think for a while. The learning continues. I would say yes, I tend to believe in both OT & New Testament as accurate source. But now that you ask, I must admit I have some problems here and there with OT stuff. As far as Noahs ark we have all heard of all the people who claim to have seen it on Mount AArat but "cant find it again" or "the photos disappeared". Maybe it is there, who knows. If it is and God wants us to see it he will melt the ice it is buried under and put it on national TV.
The one thing I did find interesting a while ago was the following: I may not get it exactly right, but it went something like this.........An actuary studies life spans, birth and death trends etc. It is fairly reliable information and many planners and life insurance companys use it regularly. An actuarial study was done on the presumption that Noahs Ark landed with 8 people aboard about 4000 years ago. Based on that , the population of the earth today then should be between 4-6 billion which is pretty accurate.
Personally, I believe the ark story is true but have no real proof. It is mentioned in the New Testament as well so that helps me to confirm. -

hi flowerpetal
Im pretty new here also and dropped in your column because I like your user-name. I don't like mine but I can't change it at this point so I'm stuck with it.
Don't worry if you don't understand the meaning of "born-again". I am a born-again and cannot explain it. All I know is when I believed that Mr. Christ would be a savior and forgive me everything changed in my life. All my bad habits and foul mouth and drinking just suddenly disapeared in a split second. The bible made sense to me for the first time. The only thing remained was smoking. I could never figure this out. I think God left this piece of dirt on my exterior that I couldnt hide from anybody. Maybe that is good because I think otherwise I would have become one of those "hollier than thou " types. Anyway that was 14 years ago, still smoke (bad) and re-learned a few choice swearwords for occasional use.Otherwise I still feel pretty much re-born compared to before.
Welcome and look forward to your posts

gotcha.... you got me!!
your name caught my attention so dropped in . I am a newbie here as well (3days) I used to bounce around a bit in my beliefs at one time but now pretty solid and always willing to learn more. I am going to give you a couple of comments and then a guarantee. Let me know your opinion of my slant on religious stuff. What I believe, what you believe, what your friends and family believe, are not the things you should study to find the truth. The only safe place to go is the bible and is the only trustworthy source for you. There are many good translation of the bible out there, dont be afraid to look and compare them. Most are accurate.Whenever I had a question I would look up the answer and carry on until the next concern came up. I did not know my way around the bible and could not find anything at first so I picked up an NIV Student Bible to get me started. It lists all the different topics in the index and is easy to find stuff.
Now for the guarantee. Eveytime you go to look something up in the bible tell God you want to know the truth and ask him to help you find it. Then watch what happens. Some pretty neat things can happen at times. The best part is that it is between you and God and the bible and none of us to throw you off track.
I think it is safe to guarantee that God will bring us to the truth when we ask him. Sure works for me.
In the meantime I look forward to your postings on this site.

MAYBE MAYBE MAYBE MAYBE MAYBE
re: adding "Christian" to watchtower names.
Could it be possible the society is tired of fighting the truth and decided to ease over to the Christian position? It is a long shot but not impossible. A few years ago ARMSTRONG'S WORLDWIDE CHURCH OF GOD tired of the false teaching they had defended for years did an about face and accepted the maintream christian position including the tri-unity of God. I have'nt kept up to the results lately but at the time most of the members remained and accepted the new teachings.Mainly my interest at the time was how the fundemental Christian churches who had previously faulted them also were able to do an about-face and welcome them into the fold. It was a pretty neat thing to observe at the time.

The Remnant Watchtower
by ozziepost inthis week's watchtower study article (feb 15 p23) should be re-named "the remnant manifesto"!.
a subliminal message centered on the use of the word "remnant" runs right through the article.. para 5: "a faithful remnant in ancient judah were to benefit.".
para 6: "so jehovah prospered the faithful remnant...".

My mom has been a long time attendee at the JW Kingdom Hall and I have also on occasion as well. My problem is I read the bible too much . Which version you ask? I have 14 different translations to refer to.Most say the same thing.. The Watchtower editions make a lot of "Additional" words but at least they put {brackets} around some added words so I credit them for a bit of honesty here. My other problem is I love books and collect rare and out of print books. I have also studied Charles Taze Russel's original teachings and observed all the changes thru the years. When Charles started the millenium Dawn Society (JW) he told the new followers they were part of the exclusive chosen 144,000. That worked great until membership grew to over 144,000 and he had to shut the door to heaven because it was full. He then had to come up with a different "category" for us which continues to this day.
My point is this......I have read the passage in Revelation a hundred times and it says the 144,000 are literal Jews desended from various tribes of Isreal. What I would REALLY like here is for a learned JW to reply to any errors I may have in interpreting This passage. Is there something I'm not seeing? Thanks
