I know what you all mean and I totally agree...
But all this helps, even a little. The society look more dated and cob-webbed by the day. Every year they seem more cultish and less free. The Internet will continue to offer easy access to answers for interested ones and followers. Time will see the watchtower fall into a heap, bigger structures with deeper foundations have fallen. We were just unluck enough to be the modern day followers of Zeus, thankfully we didn't die for the cause.
When I think now of how much a JW has to blinker their eyes, the internal conflict of so many JWs must be intense. They can't watch a nature program, read a paper, buy a music album, pick up a scientific journal, go on the Internet, go to school, go to work, visit a library, visit a museum,turn on the news at night.... Without hearing, reading and seeing things that are a complete contradiction to what the 8 dudes in Brooklyn have told them. The NBC reported last week that graduates at university bring to the economy ten times more than what it costs the government to educate them, it also said they bring in a considerable amount more than non educated. JWs will have heard that after, during , before their district assembly. Yes they may block it out, but they can't escape it anymore... Welcome to modern society where knowledge flows and knowledge is power. The uk are soon going to make all scientific papers free and open access.
When I was growing up I was desperate to know how old the earth was in the opinion of worldly scientists and how they knew it and what the history of man was according to science. I figured I could marry what they said to genesis... Had I access to the Internet back then I could have typed it into google and had answers, evidence and proof that the bible was wrong in moments. I have no doubt the youth in the JWs are doing this because they can. It will all fall apart soon enough. I would not be surprised if they are messing with the figures already, I don't believe their memorial attendance figures for a second for last year. Everyone I asked said it was about normal if not a few less.
Anyway, enough of me waffling to myself. But in 10 years time, and 100 years have well and truly passed since 1914 ...the isolated men in Brooklyn will either go two ways... One start compromising old beliefs to keep people in or two go ultra tough and start banning access to information... In ten years time we will all be that more liberal and it just won't fly. Already the youth in the JWs have a very different view to gays as their parents.
