these guys believe that they are running and directing "god's organization" and it is all based on some flimsy parable interpetation about a master who left a slave in charge while he went away with the outcome uncertain upon his return.

jesus would have made a better choice of donald trump to run his father's business/watchtower corporation, he's less arrogant and doesn't discourage higher education, and plastic children's toys are not a major concern of his.. what is arrogance?.

The Awake is the only possible chance of a half interesting read, if there is no decent articles as usual, watching the world was a 5 min glance of stolen stories from NATURE, POPULAR MECHANICS, READERS DIGEST. Due to the printing schedule, they were all months behind the articles they were taken from. All that work, writing and printing and that was it.....

Lisa, as a trainee doctor I can assure you, the issue isnt the mothers consent. She had died, she couldn't say snything. She was dead, and they wrongly gave a dead body LIFE SUPPORT. This is nonsensical, they are even refusing to classify her as dead as they realise what they have done. All the while, a fetus is slowly developing and malforming inside a dead woman. These results were always going to happen.

as for FHN comments, I appreciate your hope, but I assure you it is not realistic.This prolonged suffering was immoral. Pregnant women have died for as long as we have had pregnant women, this is the first time anyone has ever misguidedly, attempted to maintain a fetus in a dead woman. The predictable consequences to the fetus are the exact reasons why. Also hydrocephalus insult to a fetus, alongside cardiac, limb and insurmountable malformations are NO COMPARISON to a healthy child with hydrocephalus.

When the fetus does, as likely die, sometime after nature would have ordained, can the pro-life/religious please not state something along the lines of 'at least we tried'. It was not our wife to try it on, it was not our unborn baby to experiment with. The defence in ignorance began as 'how do you know the baby is damaged' to 'its not that damaged that much' to 'damaged babies can be happy too'.... let's stop here and not sink any lower, please.

The Pastor of my Old Church Tried to Re-Convert Me Yesterday

yesterday evening my wife and i were invited to friends house for new year's eve.

we met them when i was a christian and we have kept in touch.

they had a few other friends there as well, including the new church pastor and his wife.

Humans invented gods to sway the universe in their favour in exchange for sacrifices, children for rain, animals for fertility, money for thetan exorcism...

Now the universe is understood more, we recognise there is no control, no sway, no influence, no random acts of SUPERNATURAL intervention.

Yet people want to hold onto the possibility of the hand of god, whilst stammering through an explination of it being invisible to humankind.

What are they getting out of believing in a god that won't save you from the water if he could?

That is no personal relationship, that is no friend, that is CERTAINLY no father.

Worse than this YOU KNOW that he actually willfully drowned his children in anger according to the bible.

What sickens me most is the scripture where it states, how wrong would it be for a father to say no to his child asking for bread? What about praying that your family don't drown on a new years holiday on a beach? Or trapped in a car, seat belted in? These verses are not evident at all, as again YOU KNOW. We have all been Jw's we have all spent decades with unanswered begging for bread.

Seriously people. This invention does not deserve your loyalty, time, attention, devotion or love. It doesn't deserve it over the love and affection of your children. Parent will die loyal the the god of the bible, nose deep in her bible, whilst they forgoe their pained ageing children. For a god hat would drown his own children. I don't be;oieve any god exists at all. But if you STILL think one does, SHOULD you worship a god like this? Just because he says you should? I would die fighting such a human dictator, being loyal not to a dictator but to higher morality in defence of the value of human life.

For those that think you have to worship a god you believe exists, because he made you. Does his title as inventor and builder give him the right to such immoral activity, even if you believe it does as many do, are you REALLY going to get on your knees and bow to such a dictator?

Go ahead. I won't anymore.

Could i possily be one of the sealed?

i went to the meeting last night, (with the start of a beard) and going throught he book study i had a thought.

god our "heavenly father" wants us to have a personal relationship with him because he is love.

well my brain disconnected from this thinking because if the bible was "written primarily for the anointed" and the benefits in the bible can only be mine because of "association" with the anointed, then i can never have a personal relationship with god or jesus.

May I add something that just came to me in thought.....

The only premise that christians can attempt to pursue, is the one Tec decided to grasp.

To offer that we are not intelligent enough to know gods purpose and that death may not be a bad thing, it may from the perspective of a deity be a good thing, for an over all benefit.

What did god do to people he didn't like?

What did god do to people that did not obey?

What did god do to those that broke his laws?

He..... KILLED them. God did not look down on the flood and pour water on babies, children and all but 8 of mankind out of LOVE, it was in anger and as a PUNISHMENT.

So even the bible, communicating the activity, words and thoughts of god makes clear that death is not just a BAD thing, but a PUNISHMENT.

If these people were dying, then shooting to heaven, or dying and going somewhere nice, it would not be a punishment!

The bible is not ambigous about death.

Death is the punishment for inherited sin, a ridiculous notion, but this is your belief not mine.

So any death, be it punishment from god, be it cancer or be it in a Tsunami, according to the bible the concept of death is a design from god, a punishment for the breaking of his rules in a garden.

Accept that your god is evil by the standards of humans in 2014, but you have decided to worship him anyway. That is the only honest answer.

To say otherwise is blasphemy and to promote a message not in the bible.

Hamsterbait, they had no legal right to put the dead mother on life support.

As for the consequences of theire actions now, it is new territory. I imagine it was not doctors but lawyers/managers who decided to use life support on a dead person, a doctor knows the futility of this.

As for what is next, likely they will conclude that the fetus is not viable and turn the machine off, I imagine.

The alternative it to maintain the mal-development until the fetus eventually dies. Under what circumstances is an estimation only.

I imagine the legal issue is that of the original desicion. It would not be illegal to turn the machine off now with consent from family and with a doctors opinion of best interest for the fetus.

I could do with some help please?

so the elder i studied with called round last wednesday.

i didn't tell him i'd lost my faith, i just said there are a number of reasons i wouldn't be able to return to either my studies or the meetings.

he asked me whar 2 or 3 of my reasons are so we could discuss them.. my reply: 1 i think all christians should partake of the bread and wine.

thedog1 ... we all have the option to walk away and not promote dangerous , inhumane teachings.

It takes time and we should support those in that process. But for the the elder who knows its B.S. and hod his nose as he feds it to other people's loved ones, I am sure many struggle to find empathy for.

They make it hard to leave, but it is no holiday staying in. Also this tent aint going down until people start leaving. If you love your family, what is the BEST thing you can do for them?

Not everyone here are disfellowshipped adulterers (not that it matters to me, but to some it may) but some of us simply stood up and faced the lions, then walked away, conscience clean but with the inevitable consequences.

It is do-able. Since going I have helped many to leave. I have NO regrets at all, I would do it this way everytime.
