i've always wondered that.
recently i asked that question on another thread and didn't really get ananswer.
cofty made an excellent point that we often hear what it isn't, but that really isn't useful.. so, what is it?
Is that a question prologos?
Respiration is very different to breathing, so applying spirit now to respirination, is to take it down yet another tangent.
I haven't seen so much.... mental gymnastics and wild nocturnal stabbing...for some time here.
witnessing yesterday, i had a few little ones in the group chattering away excitedly to me about the things they look "forward to in the paradise":.
"i'm going to have three horses, a big house and lots of pretty flowers etc".
after i left, it hit me "like a ton of bricks"!......this is no different to the way that kids "in the world" believe in a santa claus, easter bunny, tooth fairy etc.... then they wake up when old enough and realise that it was all lies...make believe....stories etc, all told to them by parents and older ones!
It's funny how they want things they could have now..... if their parents had pursued careers and made opportunities for themself.
Don't get me wrong, some people will have a much harder time than some to succeed.
But ANYONE can achieve enough to afford a nice house, flowers and a couple of horses. How sad that they believe the way to get it is working for free on behalf of Watchtower.
Doing your homework and working hard in school will bring that stuff sooner...... as in ...it WILL happen if you pursue it.
Unlike a paradise earth!
Also, who died so that you could take their land in the paradise? To house your horses, your plants and flowers and your wooden house?
JW's will talk of murder on the news as senseless tragedy... yet pray for the day people die and that they can take their land for their own.
What about the family and children who died and lost that land? Because they simly didn't believe......
How is that not a tragedy?
it seems that batman has been portrayed by more actors than any other superhero.. who do you think has played the best in the role of bruce wayne/batman?.
FL, granted he played playboy bruce well.... but Batman (here I go) has several sides. The batman, bruce wayne, the playboy bruce wayne, then somewhere is the real charachter under it all. Clooney did one element quite well.
I am totally biased, I was 10 years old when I saw Batman The Movie..... I was in awe. I still think JN was the hest Joker too. Batman Returns is ok too, but then they went dooooown hill...."FREEZE!"
The new Batman trilogy is fantastic, but there is something about it that just isn't Batman for me.
i'm having an exam in mineralogy in 20 days and need to learn 120+ pages of content.
i've learned a part of it so far.
i'm just curious how did you/do you study?
Like Scott, I also studied at night.
I spent the last 6 years at my desk or in the latter years in the 24hr medic library at the hospital, until 2-3am
There is just so much information to consume. There were days I studied for 16 hours straight. But on average, I would do 9-5 am on the wards, 7pm-2pm in library. Revision days off, I would do 11am until approx 2am.
I could never sleep before an exam, so I always studied the night before, all night. I don't advise it, I just couldn't sleep. My last exam week in Medicine included 4 exams. Monday to Thursday. With no revision time off. I slept saturday, then not until the Thursday afternoon.
I must admit, I am glad these days are over. It was an unpleasant, stressfull time near exams. Also the cost of failure grew exponentially, the nearer I got to the end, so the pressure increased. I couldn't do the last 6 years again, but I am so glad I did it....
i've always wondered that.

The level of hydrogen ions in the blood (itself an indicator of how much co2 there is in our blood) drives the diaphragm and the muscles in the thorax (chest) to expand and contract, adjusting the volume and therefore the air pressure inside your lungs, thus air will enter or leave based on the internal air pressure. If someone loses that drive they hyperventilate, so we give them a bag to breathe with, they then consume co2 and that drives their breathing again. People assume oxygen levels drive breathing, but it is actually the level of co2 in the blood. (unlesss you have copd).
Oxygen molecules (made in stars) will go via diffusion from low concentrstion to high concentration, just as all things do.
So oxygen will enter the blood (low concentration) from the air (high concentration) and likewise for the exact opposite reason, CO2 leaves the blood (high concentration) for the air (lower concentration).
Our lungs have a region of sacs called alveoli, in their lining that interact with the putside air and the body's blood vessels carrying blood along the lining of the lungs. This is where the transfer called diffusion happens.
Breathing is very mechanical, it happens in various animals, in various ways... it is all explained and done so without invoking a gap for 'spirit' whatever that is by your own definition, understanding, interpretation.
There is no mystery or magic. Where exactly in this process is the spirit and why call it the spirit instead of Oxygen atoms, made in a star? I assume you don't think spirit is made in stars? Why is oxygen spirit, why not helium, gold, carbon? You must admit, what we once weee told as believers has been left wanting by evidence!
I am confident I know where this comes from, you are trying to make genesis fit what you can see around you, what has been learned by science. When god breathed spirit into Adam.... maybe consider that your evidence suggests this is untrue, but was how ancient peoples assumed life began when creating genesis stories in their cultures. It is not difficult to see how they came to such conclusions in the ignorance of humankind 4000+ years ago.
Because sadly, there is no gap to squeeze spirit in. We understand the process well.
Also, if you now retreat 'spirit' to the initiation of life, please remember we have created synthetic life in a labratory. From scratch! Do you believe god breathed life into the biological machines we have made as humans? We have them create fuel from waste products by changing their DNA by human design. As with all living things, they respire, just as we breathe. When the synthetic life is constructed it simply starts functioning, like a water mill being built and automatically coming to life when the last piece is added. Does this not make you question what you thought life was at least?
P.s. I have not once said doing this equates us with god or a creator, we are only altering what already existed, not creating life from 'nothing'. Nobody claims that.
Before you google diffusion, though it is,very interesting, it is based on the forces of physics and happens in all sorts of contexts. You may have heard of diffusion with water, osmosis. When you pour a cordial into a glass of water, the cordial juice seeks the least concentrated regions of water and likewise the water seeks the least water concentrated regions of the cordial, as seen when the drinks are mixed together.. just to save a conversation where diffusion may be called spirit by some. Diffusion is all about pressure gradients.
The reason oxygen is used snd co2 is released, is no accident. Just as your car needs oxygen and fuel, so does our cells, and also just as with your car, our cells release c02 and water as a waste product. It is internal combustion of another form.

great Q xxx
I love the original Batman film so much. I loved Batman as a kid, including the old tv show, filmed at 45 degrees.
But Michael Keaton (with his batman suit that had no means to turn at the neck) is the best! Clooney is the worst :(
read this earlier on jwtalk in a thread about if the 100 years of the kingdom is part of the 1000 year reign.. actually this question goes back to how the brothers believed and saw things back in bro.
russell's day.
they thought 6000 years of human history and christ's second presence began in 1874, ( their chronology was 100 years off from that which we now accept - this was corrected in the 1940s ) believing such they thought the 1000 year reign began at that time.
JW's don't have to have THE answers...... they just have to have A answer....
That is one thing that JW's all share in common, they are content accepting the b.s. as long as they have something to say that explains it. No matter how crazy it sounds, if there is some bizzare form of thin logic to the answer, they will eat it up.
"You know how light blinds you coming out of a cave....well that is why our leaders have ben wrong about everything, but they are right now!"
"You know how a parent loves their child even when chastising them? That's why god disfellowships people!"
"If your doctor said dont consume alcohol, would it be ok to have a little bit? Or to have it put into your vein instead of your mouth? Thats why we don't have blood!"
In reality these, illogical explinations can be taken apart in seconds. The cave assumption relies on god having a reason for not telling us the truth originally and allowing people to leave because of theological errors in the religion. This is senseless and unscriptural. A stable parent would never consider their child dead for ANY reason and if they did it would likely destroy that child. Alcohol wil not save your life, alcohol is bad for everyone, blood is natural and Jesus talked of breaking the biblical laws to save and cure, even rescuing lambs from wells at the expense of a law that could kill you.
The great film Religioulous, has a scene where a Jesus immitator co pares the trinity to water. Just as water can be a solid, liquid and a gas, god can be the son, the father and the holy ghost. Again, it bares no connection to the subject being conveyed, it is very thinly logical and it is b.s. All elements can be those states and 2 more, water can also be plasma....are their missing godheads? No..... its just the analogy only works if you want it to.
JW's LOOK for confirmation bias. The industrial revoloution was a terrible time. Studying it will inform such ignorant people what it did to children in the workhouses, will show them how families lived, several to a small home. How disease spread at pace and with potency. How pollution began on earth.
It gave us cheap products, it gave us engineering, it evolved into capitalism and industrial devolpment, in a way it brought science too. An efficient, repeatable process for observation. It certainly helped provide equipment and funding for science.
But it was no golden dawn , golden age! It's funny, if you read HG.Wells, he describes the industrial revolution, adding science fiction and poetic license to create wondrous machines in his stories. I was suprised when I read them to see some very old WT terminology such as golden age, golden dawn, millenial dawn.... I started writing them down and researched them. They all have masonic roots, and this is why I believe that Russell without doubt had masonic influences. No need to add spooky conspiracy music, it is what it is.....'woo'
