The government has great support and services for people like your brother, please call social services and get them involved. Also visit the local GP with him.

Local JW’s are not equivelant to qualified carers and is an unfair pressure to put on a vulnerable adult, as the support system is conditional on loyalty and support of the church not your brothers needs. It’s actualky outrageous and if his carers stop attending to him because of his change in religious belief they possibly could be liable for a lack of duty of care.

What to Do....Please Help. Awakening JW for a very long time

good afternoon , .

i have been having doubts for many years and as most jw's i have certainly not done myself a favor by suppressing all of my critical thinking.

i am married with 3 kids and my wife and i are inactive, but my wife has made it very clear in speech and action that she wants to go to all meetings, field service, and indoctrinate our kids.

Huge amount of sympathy for you.

Much respect for your realisation that there is a choice of comfort or truth and that by choosing research, critical thinking and logic .... it’s going to be costly and uncomfortable now ...... but for your children’s sake it’s worth the price that they will know ‘the truth about the truth’ and have a door out of it with you, with which will come a more valuable comfort than the one from pretending it’s all ok now.

There is no defence for denying data/information or logic/critical thinking. The real truth doesn’t need defending, it will defend itself.

I am so lucky that I foresaw that one day I’d leave and didn’t marry a JW. I have no right to an opinion therefore. However..... 😉..... I would humbly advise that if you had no kids you could

do as you please, but with having kids, in my humble opinion, your responsible for raising them to research, be critical appraisars of data and logical ..... and basically as their Dad are responsible for showing them reality.

What may cost your marriage may very well save your kids. Tough decision but not a hard choice.

New to the truth

i have been meeting with member's of the kingdom hall, and i have attended a few times now on sundays.

i'd like to discuss experiences with this group since i'm new.

so far, i love it.

If you believe they study the bible deeply, go research the beginning of the use of the name Jehovah or Yaweh and then ask a JW to explain it or discuss it.

Their biblical knowledge is superficial and cherry picked.

LoL ...... I was at bethel with the guy in the middle. Nice guy, very chilled, I often wondered whether he left or stayed.....very sad to see him churning out such heartless comments.

It’s stuff like this that makes me glad I never became an elder, I’d never be able to live with myself now had I been involved in anything so judgmental and tacky as this.

After 10 years do they give up on you (hoping so)

i think i read somewhere that if you have been inactive for ten years plus, the elders will not try to meet with you and corner you to get you back "in".

is that true?.

i just realized that mr. spiral and i haven't gone to meetings or reported time for over ten years.

There is no official time scale but I believe they are taught that a faded JW who no longer identifies as a JW and doesn’t comment on JW’s after a few (?3) years ..... is not pursued.

Remember that Anthony Morris said in court, to a judge, that if an ex JW is off celebrating Xmas and not identifying as a JW, they would not be pursued.

It makes me sad, that for nearly three decades as a JW, such incredible human beings were dismissed as insignificant, futile and worthy of judgment at Armageddon.

Meanwhile the JW’s are in awe of Russell, Rutherford and the WT leaders, who have contributed naught to the world, to society or humanity.

One brought equality, the others blood transfusion bans and shunning of loved ones... yet they are the ones who are loved and respected.

Shameful.

Northenden Assembley Hall Of JWs (Manchester, UK) - A Little History

this is the circuit assembly hall i attended since childhood.

if you're a jw and you grew up in liverpool, lancashire or manchester then this is the hall you attended.

when i was little i remember the decor inside being red and cream coloured.

I painted that ceiling.... and those walls!

Went there from childhood and was there most days of the renovation. Baptised there 1995 ... last went In 2005 when I realised I no longer belonged 😉

Calling Cofty and others regarding evolution

so i have started down the path of trying to understand evolution, and to get the linear lies that the jws planted in my head out of it.

i bought an audiobook called "evolution: what the fossils say and why it matters" by donald prothero.

i heard it recommended on an atheist podcast that i listened to.

To put knowledge and data in the waste basket before even understanding the theory enough to be able to communicate it to another person, is risky. You may just throw out truth and with no reason why.

Evolution is a theory that explains eloquently how species adapt over time, abiogenesis is the theory relating to the formation of life on planet earth.

Dismiss knowlege at your own risk. Certainly never dismiss knowlege you neither understand or have given no time to. Certainly don’t openly express your opinions on a theory you haven’t even studied, that’s intellectually criminal.
