  Climate Change - True Believer or Skeptic?

  climate change ... who doesn't believe it?

  crazy fools and science deniers ... right?.

  it seems like it's become the new religion, the new orthodoxy, that must be accepted and believed as gospel and preached to all.. is it ok to be skeptical?.

  It seems quite odd to me, to have a scientific question of whether man made contributions to CO2 contribute to climate change..... and to offer the option of skeptic or believer. Especially poignant on an ex religious site.

  i very skeptically believe human pollution is likely contributing to climate change and that it is indefensible to not try and reduce that possible contribution, for our childrens sake.

  It takes decades to become an expert in this field, armchair opinions are exactly that and dangerous no matter which side they stand by.

  By far the majority of experts are in agreement that it it taking place, dangerous and that time is of the essence. That will do for me.

  Non expert opinion has already seen me lose nearly three decades to a cult.

  Attendance Figures

  i was a jw in the 80’s-2000’s and probably saw the peak of uk attendance.. anecdotally, many here appear to have a view that attendance has reduced significantly.

  our kh would have around 90-110 for a meeting, at worst maybe 75 and the highest was 144 (for memorial lol).. small circuit assembly had about 1000 people and district had about 8-12000. .

  i know kh’s and circuits/districts have variance, however in the uk i attended many of these various gatherings and the numbers above tended to be reasonably average.

  asia for the asians, africa for the africans, white countries for everybody!.

  everybody says there is this race problem.

  everybody says this race problem will be solved when the third world pours into every white country and only into white countries.. the netherlands and belgium are just as crowded as japan or taiwan, but nobody says japan or taiwan will solve this race problem by bringing in millions of third worlders and quote assimilating unquote with them.. everybody says the final solution to this race problem is for every white country and only white countries to “assimilate,” i.e., intermarry, with all those non-whites.. what if i said there was this race problem and this race problem would be solved only if hundreds of millions of non-blacks were brought into every black country and only into black countries?.

  Remember back when,,.... there were those Neanderthals in the East with slightly darker skin who would grunt at a slightly faster pace when communicating !   Did L. Ron Hubbard really exist? Probably doesn't matter........what's true is true, what is not is not.

  Be it a scienrology pamphlet or the book of Acts, what matters is what's true in the document, not whether the characters within them existed or not.

  If you could find out with certainty that a man called Ieshua/Jesus existed at that time, in that place, with those teachings..... would it matter at all as to what is true?

  They may start partitioning off land, for example where a KH sits in a lot of land, they may sell the excess land, It may only be 5-10% of KH's but that is free money for them. They could encroach on their car parks too.....again free money.

  i don't think i shared this story yet, it's strange and although i did a little detective work trying to figure out who said what and when i never found out much, big surprise, jehovah's witnesses love their secrets as we all know... but i thought other posters might find this interesting both in and of itself, because of what an elder told me one sunday back in 2011, and because of what it could imply as to high-ranking jehovah's witnesses prophesying the date of armageddon.

  specific dates went out the window in 1975, although governing body helper ken flodin hinted at 2040 in a talk uploaded to jw.org a couple years back, and the governing body hinted at 2034 in a watchtower back in the 90s.

  but it might be, just might, that more specific date-setting still goes on behind closed doors in certain circuits.... so after i went to "meetings" and talked to witnesses for a couple years at a rural congregation in the eastern united states an elder pulled me aside one service into the vestibule at the hall, in other words, into a private area where no one would overhear us.

  Fundementalism is the danger, be it right wing, left wing, religious or otherwise.

  We all belong to this forum for a reason. We were all once fundamentalist 'christians' that were agreeable to death without blood, homophobia, shunning of loved ones and the mass genocide of all non JW's.

  We know how easy it is to be manipulated and radicalised. The dangerous is the human being vulnerable to unhealthy moulding.

  Without doubt many people are petrified of islamic radicals....but there is also a fear in Europe and the USA of old extremist right wing thinking encroaching into society again. In the USA there is a huge fear of violent leftists who have developed an aggressive ironicslluy non-liberal position on many things.

  As a liberal, im horrified at how these SJW's behave and act. I believe there should be a platform for Ben Shspiro, Milo, Jordan Peterson even Gavin Mcinnes or Alex Jones. Its unhealthy to try snd control thought and conversation. Some liberals would be horrified by that and that is my point.

  We've sll been radicalised by Watchtower and we are a testament that not everyone thinks the same way in a group! Not every incident or case is the same, as with this attack...
