  i had to highlight this part because i was dying laughing on the inside when it was given.. the talk first starts by the brother bringing out how clean gods people were in the past and how he gave specific direction to the israelites for disposing if waste.

  then he said that a sister stepped in gum outside on the pavement so we should not chew gum at the kh.eat mints instead!.

  then he brought out an important point about keeping the bathroom sanitized and he says: "and just recently we found blood in the sink in one of the bathrooms.

  Want to know why people accept evolution ?

  do you have questions about or want to understand evolution?

  it is a difficult concept to communicate and so if it is not explained well , it is understandable that we would dismiss it.. i sincerely want to talk with people who want to learn more or see what all the fuss is about.

  we are all learning and increasing our knowledge all the time and it is good to go over facts with critical eye.. evolution we can discuss, looking at the foundational facts and evidence, one at a time for you to go and check, agree or disagree with and return.. no pressure to accept it, you can decide for yourself, also no mocking etc of what you have to say.. .

  What if I told you fossils are irrelevant to evolutionary science? DNA alone proves it true, nowadays we don't need the fossils as our ancestors exist in our DNA.

  Before we start chief, without looking it up, can you define evolution, then describe how you think it works?

  it is very difficult to knock a ball into a hole (like golf), throw it into a receiver's hands (american football) intercept it and knock it over the fence (american cricket).

  or to put a sattelite at the right time at the right speed in the right direction in the right place to have it orbit another body, so :.

  what ingenious natural & process is it, than can get 9+ zillions bodies to get into the right orbit simultaniously or sequentially and have them remain there for billions of years?

  Prologos, if you haven't yet realised how much we don't know, there is a long way to go. You say you MIGHT know what you are talking about, alternatively you could sticm to facts and KNOW what you are talking about.

  Largest Genome Ever Sequenced - and it's 82% Junk

  by developing new techniques, a team of scientists led by david neale at the university of california have succeeded in sequencing the genome of the loblolly pine pinus taeda.. the genome is 16 billion base pairs long - 7 times larger than the human genome.

  so why does it take so much dna to make a tree?

  well it turns out it doesn't.. the new sequence confirmed that the loblolly genome is so large because it is crammed full of invasive dna elements that copied themselves around the genome.

  Interesting. I wonder if there is a correlation to quantity of junk DNA and survivability in an enviroment. Junk DNA can be adopted in enviromental changes, the junk DNA is an obvious source for potentially useful mutations. I wonder if the organisms with considerable junk DNA correspond to a lengthy existence on earth in many enviroments?

  hello everybody, before i begin i just wanna say that i have really found alot of great posts on here that have been helpful forme , theres definitely alot of brilliant people here!.

  i am a born in jw(24 years old) ive been baptized for 7 years and was a ministerial servant for 4 years(i am no longer one).

  recently me and my parents have have woken up to ttatt(about 2 months ago).

  So with the perspective that I reached after years of research, the bible is wrong, there is no god, we get one life and it is fragile and at best very short....

  Nauseating JW.org section for small children - CUTOUTS? Really?

  i am not hot linking to jw borg, but they have a whole section for obviously very small children (become j's friend, with a whole array of caleb-related stuff).

  i have actually never visited the site, today was the first time, because i wanted to check a technical information about their websites architecture and came across this sh*t!.

  the way they are targeting small kids is nauseating me (i have a 5 year old, still in with her mother).

  To be fair I was 8years old at the time, I saw the picture of a human, a chicken and a reptile and agreed it was ridiculous to think that one gave birth to the other. It seemed ridiculous. But even then I did think.... how coud the smartest people on earth believe this? I should have pursued this thought....

  It's funny, 7 years of higher ed, 6 of them in a Russell Group university medical school... I would not dream of teaching what I have learned without weeks of research and having it checked over. The responsibility of not teaching a false fact with so many facts to teach would leave me researching for weeks for a single lecture.

  To think of how care free we once threw a talk together, quoted Watchtower 'facts' without question and simply repeated what we once heard from the one source of ALL data, the society. I remember doing several talks with only minutes of preperation, when people didn't show up. Impressive? NO improper and unprofessional! The responsibility of teaching is no joke.

  I am ashamed I did it at all. We used to teach up to 150 people a week, including children, with no more preperation than a half hearted bit of reading. Mostly looking to impress people with a ridiculous illustration or analogy, essential when promoting bullshit as the story being explained in of itself is illogical or immoral or simply wrong.
