Did You Ever Feel Guilty Because You Deserted The JW Religion?
by minimus inonce i left, i never yearned for anything associated with the religion.
i didn't miss their doctrines, their erroneous thinking.
i never felt guilty because i abandoned the religion i was raised in.. i believe the reason for my not feeling guilty is pretty simple.

They make you doubt your own mind and thinking, they even tell you YOUR heart is treacherous.....(never say that about themselves).....so when you are leaving and you haven't realised that this is all part of the indoctrination, it causes emitions such as concern, doubt and fewr, but the information is readily available to prove you are right in leaving and wrong in staying. Guilt seems the wrong word, I never felt I was doing anything wrong in leaving, quite the opposite... hence my slow decline in answering, doing talks and then preaching..... i felt guilty doing those activities once i knew it was all a lie.
THE RELIEF was immense the night the elders didnt answer ONE of my questions, they went from saying 'this is Jehovah using you to clean his organisation' to within an hour saying 'it is best you dont attend anymore'
I got on my motorbike knowing 25 years was done, ended, I think I always knew it would one day and here it was..... I was smiling as I rode home. The elders by their actions had just proved to me it was all a lie. A con man selling dodgy timeshares to a room full of people.....someone puts their hand up and asks seversl legitimate questions of concern and presents financial data contradicting what he had already said... hecang answers your questions and concerns with evidence because its a lie. so when he says 'shhhh you cant ask those questions!' you know its a lie! Some stay to hear the rest of the salespitch, but when you put your hand uo again and demand answers & he gets his mates to man handle you out the meeting and tells you its best you stay away..... you know they dont have the answers and you have been seperated out to stop others hearing your questions.
This says alot about elders and their own conpliance in the Watchtower game.
But Just as s man leaving such a time share or pyramid sale meeting would leave relieved he had not wasted any more time and got out.... thats how i felt, i find it odd that some feel guilt, that conveys a concern it may all be true. But I understsnd that some leave earlier than I did (fair dues to you) maybe with less proof od it being garbage so doubting themselves.
As for family still in it, I know it is a dangerous, harmfull, mind control group....so I don't feel guilt about showing them they CAN leave and why! By leaving I have seen 7 family members follow me out....it took about 6 years but its fantastic! Some remain in and I dread their stubborness may cost them a lifetime of regret.

Like it is difficult.....preaching to a human being....when did it start, when did it stop? That's your time. Anything more is fudging the statistics.
I have been wondering what they were going to do about this, they are slamming the breaks onto the religious organisation, how can they defend the obvious slow down in growth, hours and religious work that is inevitable?
Change the rules on how it is all measured...

Atheists, here is a 'balls' question ---even for all---
by prologos init is very difficult to knock a ball into a hole (like golf), throw it into a receiver's hands (american football) intercept it and knock it over the fence (american cricket).
or to put a sattelite at the right time at the right speed in the right direction in the right place to have it orbit another body, so :.
what ingenious natural & process is it, than can get 9+ zillions bodies to get into the right orbit simultaniously or sequentially and have them remain there for billions of years?

Prologos, no offence but you seem to be enjoying this now.....but you are actually being quite irresponsible and dangerous. False information with unjustified claims not only mislead but muddy the waters of what is actually true. It also dilutes the message of how actually we find out truth today and how it is best to research things. Opinions are not equal and not all worthy of respect.

EX JW Podcast
by snare&racket ini am setting up a podcast (radio show) where we will cover the issues of jw's, amongst the topics of science, belief and more.. i am letting you guys know because i would like to interact with the forum as we do them, looking for suggestions for topics, looking for guest ideas and also we can mask voies and change names, so interviewing current jw's to help provide people a voice, an outlet for their frustration whilst providing a safety net.
there is no hierarchy, but current elders, bethelites etc that contribute here already will be more than welcome and protected!.
the podcast will be pro science, i will have both atheist and theist co-presenters in the episodes but i can't deny my bias towards evidence and science, but hopefully it should be enjoyable and informative for us all.. i plan for it to be about 2hrs long, maybe an episode a month or every 2 or 3 weeks.

Want to know why people accept evolution ?
by snare&racket indo you have questions about or want to understand evolution?
it is a difficult concept to communicate and so if it is not explained well , it is understandable that we would dismiss it.. i sincerely want to talk with people who want to learn more or see what all the fuss is about.
we are all learning and increasing our knowledge all the time and it is good to go over facts with critical eye.. evolution we can discuss, looking at the foundational facts and evidence, one at a time for you to go and check, agree or disagree with and return.. no pressure to accept it, you can decide for yourself, also no mocking etc of what you have to say.. .

i felt relief that the guilt was gone, being a JW is to live in perpetual guilt.... Never achieving enough, a list of things you wont ever succeed in or do enough of.........ministry hours, study preparation, contributions, living a lie, natural urges and desires, not being allowed to discuss, question or doubt the gov body....

Need an Exit Plan Fast!
by kneehighmiah inmy girlfriend cult handlers have gotten to her.
they suggested she should no longer communicate with someone who's thinking isn't in line with jehovah's organization.
we argued and she told me to go hang myself.

welcome tothe reality of just how conditional the love was, the friendships were.....it was all paper thin.
I am sprry you are experiencing this, don't make yourself unhappy moving away, go where you WANT to be. Say what you need to say to not cause a stir, then slowly stop, going and act normal when you see them but politely decline to discuss your very personal spiritual life.
Anyone saying to anyone 'go hang yourself' is troubled, especially if it is for simply daring to doubt and question 8 window cleaners in Brooklyn she probably can't name. it is all so irrational, illogical and insane....it is a cult.
So calm down a little, take a few moments. Decide what you 100% want in life, including belief system, family, friends, job, area to live in.
Once you know what you want, simply follow your list and do it xxx
you have support here, make sure you come and ask for it when you need it buddy!

Books!
by dynamiterose77 ini feel like i wasn't allowed to read a lot of books when i was younger, a lot of which i'm discovering are positivly phenomenal.. i was allowed to read edgar allan poe, who remains my all time favorite writer.
but, i've discovered the joys of stephen king, anne rice, joyce carrol oats, neil gaiman, george r. martin, david sedaris... and so so so many more.. i'm currently getting through "the shining" so i can move on to "doctor sleep".
i'm interested to see if anyone else that discovered the many joys of "worldly" literature, jumped immediately into what they weren't allowed to read... and what was your favorite?.

I have always loved books, they excite me. A small paper rectangle of pages....but enclosed within are worlds and stories and charachters just waiting to be discovered. My mum was a reader, so I just used to read her books and loved looking through them in the attic. I don't think she knew looking back. I remember reading 'all quiet on the wester front' and I was 9yrs old. I have a very visual mind and memory and so books to me are like hooking into another world and it was very much so like that when I was younger, I can still picture some of the places I visited only in books etc, even as a kid.
I remember at age 6 or 7 reading Fantastic Mr Fox, Famous Five, Stig of the Dump...
but my fav books.....
HM's Moby Dick is amazing, just so human, I read as a teen for escapism and Moby Dick is all about escaping life on land to the sea.
I can't reccomend enough the Robert Jordan Wheel of Time series. It is long and deep, a whole continent of cultures, charachters, regions, wars and a great core of central charachters that you eventually feel like you know in person. I loved them as a JW, got quite a few into the series, actually prefer them to Game of Thrones.
For little easy weekend reads, David Gemmel is great. Waylander 1&2 or The 4 drenai Novels....again escapism in bundles. Easy to read.
Sci Fi I enjoyed the hidden empire series and 'do androids dream of electric sheep' aka Blade Runner. I prefer to watch sci fi over read it.
Historical authors are a plenty, I was into the 'Emperor' (story of caesar) series, also different author 'The Wolf on The Plains' (G Khan story), Vagabond series is also great. I love the Hornblower (english navy) books too.
Best world war 2 book I have read is Stephen E Ambrose 'Band of Brothers' ......became an amazing tv prog.
Med school killed my reading. Reading all evening and weekend, killed any urge to pick up a book. Makes me a bit sad as I used to devour them. I remember reading a new wheel of time book that came out and I couldn't stop it reading it well over 24hrs. They are big books so they last a good while, which is great, but I was lost in the huge story and it was fantastic.
Books are so important for the brain, they are essential for kids, get them reading super young and get them excited babout books early!

p.s. sorry i can talk books all day. Would love to write one, always starting one...then binning it lol
