This is how dangerous Islam is
by neat blue dog inwe're talking the death penalty for a woman who's accusers don't even have a consistent or fleshed out reason for wanting her dead:.

a public official who merely spoke well of her was killed by his own guard, and please note:.

I remember my family saying I was angry/bitter with god. I replied that it was comparable to saying I was angry with Santa.
This is a common JW tactic, it removes their need to admit that some people leave WT because they no longer legitimately believe it.

The Bible said rapists and the raped should be killed if the crime occurred in a city and no screaming was heard.
Why compare one evil belief system to another when they are all evidently evil.

Hey jesus! So tell us all about heaven!
by nowwhat? ini always wondered, how come the apostles never asked jesus what heaven is like compare to earth.
and wouldn't they be bugging jesus to tell them all kind of stories of such?.

It's funny, we think of the apostles and Jews as almost being ancient Jehovah’s Witnesses. In reality to know what Jews even thought of Heaven, you have to forget what the Reasoning Book tells you and seek out what their beliefs were at the time of Jesus to appreciate why they weren't discussing 'Heaven' like a modern day JW.

Asylum Caravan
by dubstepped inalright, so what is the deal with the thousands coming to the states right at election time seeking asylum?
i'm not up on this, usually try not to be, but how can this not be manipulative?
it's either manipulative in the size of the group and pressure that creates, or in where it started or who started this, etc.

America has invaded countries like a virus all over the Middle East in recent years, with guns, tanks, jets and the worlds most technologically advanced weaponry. This they did with impunity and little interest in what other people thought. They were protecting their own interests, be it security and or oil and some would say that was their prerogative. If I don't agreee with it, I will still admit to understanding it.
Despite this view, a caravan of non-white desperate men, women and children, carrying what little they have remaining is causing hysterics to these same Americans. They have no guns, no tanks, no jets..... they barely have anything.
Alex Jones or Roger Stone will tell you I'm sure, George Soros is bussing them in as a political hit job and to back an invasion..... utter twaddle.... the utter lack of insight and humanity to call it an invasion. Afghanistan and Iraq lost hundreds of thousands of civilians to American led coallition insirgencies ....or invasions. How many Americans will die from this caravan?
Utter nonsense.
Just as America acted to secure their own interests, so are these people. I have no doubt that if some of the Caravan fearmongers lived in the same countries, they too would carry their kids to a land of safety, democracy and opportunity at any cost.
I have NO DOUBT that this caravan is peppered with people that have bad intentions, that have done bad things. I don't believe for a second that this Caravan has political initiation, but even if I let you have it, that George Soros kicked the whole thing off for some convoluted, weak political agenda... for sure, people with real needs, real fears and seeking real hope have joined that Caravan.
It's ok to say that you don't think America should be a sanctuary for people in need, people that are desperate. Just be prepared to be considered a bit of a douche. Let's say that 95% of the caravan is a political invasion of evil foreign men ... shouldn't you be saying ....let's seek the 5% that need our help? I hear no Democrats saying "let them all in!" I hear them say, let them apply for asylum and see if it's granted based on their application as is law in most countries including America....... seems reasonable.

Reminiscing about the Manchester JW Scene
by Farmer Jim1 ini’m sure like many of you that use this forum i sometimes think back over the years as a jw and recall the funny, the strange and then the downright bizarre things that happened within the organisation.
i grew up and settled in a densely jw populated area of manchester which was filled with the usual jw drama and nonsense.. if you were from the area and have any memories or stories please post them here.. one of the things i clearly recall (and i’m sure this wasn’t just a manchester jw thing) was the massive drinking culture within the jw community.
i didn’t really pick up on it until i started questioning things but looking back i can remember my parents taking about an elder in the hall that drank a can of beer before going to the thursday meeting.

I was around the Liverpool & Manchester scene back then. Early 80's until 2005. I remember hearing about the bar ban ?2002, I can't remember if it was announced at the arena but we had a local needs when we got back. Our Hotel had a fire alarm Sat night & we arrived back to our hotel (The Renaissance) at 3am to find our elders and families in the street in dressing gowns thanks to some plonker JW cooking in their room. That night getting caught red handed ...and our worldly nights out had us having a finger wag and a local needs and a letter from the CO, though we weren't responsible for the bar ban. At one time I remember vaguely who was involved but don't have a scooby now!
We used to love the Manchester weekend. Have a dance, have a drink, meet some new people. I still miss the pals from back then, from Liverpool and Manchester, we were from N.Wales. I used to love Deansgate for the clubs/bars...and the Jazz bar (open space painted red) and Edwards's was a classy spot....then there was the Warehouse 😝
I was asked to do an assembly item on Video Games once, talking about Street Fighter and Mortal Combat.... so embarrassed by this b.s. now ....but was famous for a day in the NYNEX arena lol.
I was in Bethel and knew Mat if you know him?) from Manchester amongst others. He used to work on the sign language section in the MEN arena. He'd stand behind the deaf JW's and whistle, to get them hearing aid twitching for a laugh ha ha.
Oh I also painted most of the Northendon ceiling Gold..... and in the old kitchen room upstairs, wrote my name in big letters on the ceiling (corner without windows) in the first coat of gold paint. I was the first person to use the gold paint and thought it would be the highlight of my life. The RBC were pissed because you could clearly see it despite several layers.... 😬
I havent been in that hall or arena in near 15 years now. I would never have guessed how things would turn out......

Morphs law
by _Morpheus inregarding morphs laws and its simple expression: its a direct parallel to godwins law on internet debates.
goodwins law states:.
as an online discussion grows longer, the greater the probability of a comparison involving hitler approaches.

I sent off my application to study Palaeobiology (MSc) at Bristol uni and ...
by LoveUniHateExams in... they've accepted me!
finance is already sorted - they're waiting for me to give them my new student number so that they can start paying me.
just need to formally accept bristol's offer and sort out accommodation.. accommodation should be ok - i've been told priority is given to new students, plus i'm enrolling onto a program for a real degree as a postgraduate - i won't be studying gender studies or some crap like that.
