  hey peeps,.

  it's been a long while since i've posted (i am completely out - wife and kids still in) but thought you might this interesting.. they came home from the district convention yesterday with the new dvd intended for kids.

  they popped it in right away and this is what happens:.

  I agree with Blondie and Wha. Just because someone of ill repute makes a logical or decent point doesn't mean you should quote them. If you were writing an article on a specific matter and Hitler, or Charles Manson or John Wayne Gacy happened to make a point that agreed with your article.....would you quote them? Most of us wouldn't. Not because that particular quote is wrong.....but because we choose to have higher standards than to rely on a quote for support of our argument from such low-life filth

  so now you have it in your mind, that the wts are not what they say they are, they lie and what have you.. nowwwww, next time you dont go out in fieldservice, and the next time, and the next time people start to wonder.. well, time comes and you have to explain yourself to who ever.

  your mom, your dad, an elder, who ever.

  now you cant just go about saying, "well, one of the things is that new light is a bunch of crap, because russel predicted this in 1914 and that in 1918 and that in.....".

  Talking to the elders will likely get you quickly booted. They care about you until they realize you know too much. I don't know your family but if you are going to explain yourself to anyone.....I would pick them. They may and I stress may be more apt to try to understand you and "reason" with you....which will in turn give you a chance to subtly open their eyes.

  You really could say something like "all of our modern day material simply says things like "in 1919, Jesus inspected the world's religions and selected the bible students because they were the only ones teaching the proper things at the proper time. But then again.....I read in our material that so much has changed over the years. We used to celebrate Christmas! So I wondered what else has changed. I remember a talk by the circuit overseer and he said that the proof is in the pudding. Do some research and you'll KNOW this is the truth. (Our CO actually did say that at an assembly.....not sure what he was smoking that day) So.....I did. I decided to order a copy of The Finished Mystery and the Millions Now Living Will Never Die Brochure.....because these would have been early truths being taught right then.....when Jesus was inspecting. The problem that I now have is that for every truth that we currently believe (for instance....no literal burning hell) there is an equally disturbing falsehood that was being taught (for instance....Jesus returned in 1874). I just have trouble believing that Jesus would be happy with the brothers for getting the whole no literal burning hell thing right......but then simply ignore the fact that they were spreading a falsehood about his return.....right there when he was grading them. If our religion is the only one in the world that is correct, and Jesus chose us because we were the only ones teaching the right things at the right time......then why don't we focus on what was being taught when Jesus made that selection? Why don't we prove how right we were?"

  Don't get me wrong.....they won't say "wow! You're right!" But at least you can tell them you've been thinking....but it hasn't been the result of apostate infiltration.

  Overall....DiamondDiiz nailed it. If they get upset at you for reading older publications....they are digging themselves a grave. You can always respond with "at what point did our own publications become apostate?"

  i got this e-mail from my family members (along with some heavy preaching and guilt trips).....it always baffles me how gullible they are and it's sad to see them stumble around in the dark bumping into each other.

  according to some wishful thinking jws, "babylon the great's end is coming soon".... september 2012 to be exact.

  Why don't you send back a reply and remind them that only the Father knows when these things will occur and that God certainly must not be happy with their speculation on something that he promises they'll never know.

  Plus....they aren't following theocratic order very well

  some threads question the intelligence of people who would "fall for" the teachings of the wts.. one of the current threads on this topic uses the terms "king......dumb.....hall" and calls jw's stupid, mindless, idiots.

  The most important thing you, I or anyone else can do is THINK FOR YOURSELVES. Remember, true education teaches your how to think. Propaganda tells you what to think.

  Yes, your head was empty when you were born and others filled it up.....but what was it filled with? I believe firmly in the law of gravity. it has been proven....therefore I am not against someone teaching me from a young age that such a law exists. But other things in life (what was the origin of life? Are you a republican or democrat? Etc) should not be taught as law because there is no hard/fast proof as to what is and is not right. A person should strive to learn both sides of an argument and then make a choice based on proper investigation and critical thought.

  Life isn't about having original thoughts. It is about having the FREEDOM of thought to make decisions YOU want to make based on analyzing information.

  I'm curious...........how many of you are going out in Field Service tomorrow? I'm serious.

  i'm going out in the morning, but i'm wondering who else here in undercover apostate land will be meeting up with their own respective groups for theocratic activity tomorrow.

  for those of you going, will you be preparing your presentations tonight?.

  ElderElite - Please....you've really intrigued me. So the kids are in on it....but not Mrs. EE? I understand how you get away with meeting for field circus but then going to do "RVs" with your kids. But every week?

  I was never an elder....and actually not even an MS. But I was at one point an uber dub (except for going out in service on Christmas.....I drew the line there). And us uber dubs knew who was out each week and who wasn't. If ElderElite only showed up once per month for service....we would know about it. And the rest of the hall would know about it. And then the elder body would know about it and you'd be asked why you only meet w/ the group once per month. Your eldership (at least around here) might be subject to meeting for service each Saturday. Now.....if you had some prior duty you could get away with missing most of them. For instance.....we have one elder who misses almost each Saturday because he has to work. But.....he makes up for it by always leading the Wed morning group. The point being.....for every elder....there is almost always a weekly presence for field circus on SOME day of the week. I am just very surprised that you haven't beed called out for almost never meeting with the group for service.

  What about when the CO comes.....or when the annoying service overseer says "Brother ElderElite......let's make plans to go in service together next week."?

  What about when territories are checked out? Do you check out one territory every other month....and then just turn it back in and say it is complete? (I've done that!)

  Again....I would think that eventually there would be murmurings. Brother Zealous saying "you know.....Brother ElderElite turns in 10 hours per month....and I understand that sometimes he does RVs with his kids....but how does he get the rest of his time? I've never worked with him. Brother Haughty has never worked with him. Nobody has ever worked with him. Hmmmmm"

  Especially being an elder.....you're in the spotlight. Am I crazy or is it only a matter of time before you get busted?

  the etan patz story was huge when i was a kid in the 70's.

  very scary, parents didn't let kids out of their sight.

  If he was not baptized......a witness would say "see? he wasn't baptized. Jehovah's spirit certainly prevented it from happening"
