Problem with the CD ROM is.....when you print it out....it doesn't come with any type of proof that it is from the WT Society. Worst case is.....I can bring a laptop w/ me to court and use the disk.....but hard copies would be better

SCRIPTURAL DIVORCE

i am genuinely in the dark on this one; .

can someone with experience of this explain to me what a "scriptural divorce" is?

i have always believed what christ said was the only basis for divorce.

The only grounds for divorce is "proof" (which in and of itself is subjective - see elders manual) of adultery. But there are plenty of other reasons to get a separation. If the elders feel that the reason you chose to get separated was a good one (i.e. willful non support.......spiritual endangerment etc) then you will remain in good standing in the congregation......you just cant get remarried.

Here is a good one for you:

I know of a sister who left her husband due to all sorts of problems.....one being physical abuse. She went ahead and got divorced because she decided there was no way she would ever trust him again. She lost her "privleges". Two years later she is still divorced from him but because she is a JW.....she has not dated anyone else so she is single. The elders told her that since she initiated a divorce on grounds outside that of adultery, not only can she not get remarried, but she can never pioneer again because she is not considered to be "exemplary". She is not considered "exemplary" because she is still considered to be "married in Jehovah's eyes" (since there has never been evidence of adultery) However, if she were to succomb to immorality now or in the future, she would likely be reprimanded but not disfellowshipped if she showed "repentance". And at THIS point.....not only would she be free to remarry.......she would also.....after the reprimandation......be cleared to be a pioneer again because since Jehovah no longer views her as "married".....she is now examplary. Isn't that sick? If she lives her life according to biblical standards from here on out.....she will be congregationally punished. But if she willingly breaks one of the biblical laws......she will be congregationally rewarded!

You are exactly right Phizzy. One that pops out at me is the "generation" debacle. Years ago....I would proudly state that Jesus stated that "this generation" will not pass away. That was step 1. Then I'd show them right from the bible how long a generation was. That was step 2. Then it was a matter of getting them to understand how we calculated 1914. Step three was much tougher.

I don't see how any witness can even get past step two with any reasonable individual anymore. Who in their right mind aside from those that are predisposed to kool aid drinking....can possibly read the society's explanation for the overlapping generation and actually take it seriously?

The wackier the society gets with their doctrines and explanations......the more they push away ones that had potential interest.......yet at the same time.....the more they tighten the grip on those already in. In the long run.....a losing proposition for the society.

Although Iam not an attorney, I do not think there is any evidence of fraud since a structure demage already existed and that an insured home owner has a right to decide where his or her check go. And also, insurance firms always prefer their own approved adjustors, those already on their list of pre-approved ones. And by large, these pre-approved adjustors carry a very heavy burden to be honest in their estiimation or else, they risk losing their own license or credential. May be Iam incorrect on this but this is my personal experiences involving an auto accident.

On the postive note, this thread has enlightened me alot about the dirty inner working of the RBCs. Its a very wonderful blessing that the internet is opening the way to uncover many secrets of the Watchtower we did not know before. I suspect this are just the tip of the iceberg."

But what State Farm might want to see is that FULLY INSURED and QUALIFIED roofing contractors are making the repairs that their check is paying for. If Joe's roofing company puts on a replacement roof and the thing leaks and causes $25k worth of future damage to the drywall and carpet.......State Farm will pay that future claim but then go after Joe's Roofing company's liability policy for reimbursement because the ruined drywall and carpet is Joe's fault. But if a bunch of JW hill-jacks threw up the roof.......and the same thing happens.......who do they go after?

If you recall, similar reasoning was used when suggesting a donation amount for the WT's publications since a person could easily pay $75 for a bible at the bookstore."

This pisses me off. These same elders, when informed that a person spent $75 for a bible at a Christian bookstore, would say "Obviously that bookstore learned nothing from Jesus' example of throwing the merchants out of the temple!" When other denominations rip off their sheep? We will condemn them. When the WT rips of its sheep? Not only will we justify that others charge the same if not more......we will make you feel as though you are stealing from GOD if you don't concur with our logic!

Besides.....didn't Jesus say that his yoke was kindly and his load LIGHT? Should the "sheep" really be made to feel guilty if they aren't properly matching what the "greedy" commercial merchants of this wicked system would charge?

sensible, safe sex, in my opinion, should be engaged in.

because, as you get older and are ready to settle down, you will look at your potential sole mate, not for sexual reasons, but for what they have to offer mentally and if they are compatible.

when religion restricts this, and yuo must marry to have sex, i believe that you doom a marriage at the outset, because these young folks marry out of lust, only to have the rose colored blinders pulled off later, and regret the entire arrangement... .

Tis the problem amongst MANY JW marriages! The GB inserts themselves into bedroom practices....telling MARRIED couples whether or not they can engage in oral sex! Sex is almost made out to be taboo in this religion. There are stigmatisms all over the place. Wife wants husband to go to the local kink shop and buy a vibrator. Husband won't go because......"what if someone sees me walking in? I don't want to stumble anyone". Husband wants wife to wear a costume. Wife won't because......"weren't costumes associated with ancient drunken orgies and even Ba'al worship?" JWs have to be concerned about THEIR OWN MATE turning them into the elders for suggesting ANYTHING that could be considered an "unclean" practice. Being a JW CREATES sexual inhibition.

Agreed. But remember, JWs live in their own little wishful utopia. They believe that if you work really hard at your marriage......and you "put Jehovah first".......then you will be yoked together as closely as possible and wonderful....blissful sex will surely follow. If it doesn't follow......then you must not be working at the other parts of your marriage or......gulp......perhaps not taking the ministry as seriously as you should.
