  i've seen more threads and comments in the last week about the "demise of the wt" than in some time.

  several were on threads about the donation arrangement and how its going to backfire in some way on the wt.

  oh and the lone elder who was pissed in some sort of passive-aggresive manner about it when he presented the resolution.

  Much more cash? Really?

  Where are the two Awake magazines per month? Where's the vast number of books they used to print? Where's the food service at assemblies?

  Where are the District Overseers going? What are the 20+ year laid off Bethelites doing for a living? Where's the 32 page magazines? Where are the 3 day assemblies going?

  15 minute publishers? 70 hour pioneers? BOE letters with rules for what porn is OK because it's impossible to enforce? What happened to demonizing the internet? How did that turn out?

  Much of the Organization has successfully been defeated or chipped away. This process will continue. We are winning.

  It isn't blitzkreig style as I hoped but I'll take a successful Fabian strategy.

  even saying 'fanatical methodist' sounds absurd these days but that's not how they started out.. the running joke is the primary requirement to enter heaven is "bring a dish to pass".. you could likely say the same for a long list of protestant faiths.

  The most disturbing aspect of Watchtower decay might be that they are uncompromisingly cutting away at their own infrastructure without ever trying to help others in meaningful charity or even social brotherhood.

  A cult from beginning to end, it seems. They never cared enough for people to even consider 'going soft' by helping others.

  Funny how I've watched these quasi-apologists expound on the Watchtower's future and finances for many years. While the WTS isn't the Berlin Wall, the rot and layoffs and cutbacks never stop. They never really stop the decay.

  It's a fair point: don't wait for a Watchtower collapse or reform to ever occur. Life is not a dress rehearsal, get on with it!

  As for their current changes, it looks like some sick, twisted experiment in cult sociology. A sterile "ministry", boring, pointless meetings, youth treated like so much wasted spawn, a corrupt leadership, and what does the future hold?

  Elders assigned to beg for contributions. Elders who must bend lower to kiss the CO's a$$. Dying irrelevant magazines. Assemblies/Conventions that are a joke. Building projects pushed into an indefinite future.

  Yup, it's all comin' up roses.

  The Organization has a long tradition of being highly reactionary. If they are making all these changes, they are afraid of something, no doubt.

  We also may be observing the efforts of different factions within the cult. This also has long been true and noteable as Service vs Writing Depts, for example.

  Has anyone considered that the most dangerous thought relative to the Organization's future is the belief that it is fallible and dying.

  Get a significant % of Witlesses to openly say this and it might be over.

  I think we have all been surprized at various changes that they have announced. Either the organization is in worse shape than we know or they are consciously liquidating it.

  Getting rid of most DF'ing (such as only with criminal, proven acts) might not change that much. Witlesses will still shun fading relatives as disloyal all the same. Might take the edge off online opposition, though.

  The 'truth' is about peer pressure. You get that when observing real life and death blood issues. Keep Witnesses/Elders from observing and many will go for it. Witnesses shunned each other (before official df'ing) for various perceived sins in the Nazi death camps. Ridiculous.

  by lunchtime our entire world have changed dramatically.

  america had passed into a new era that would lead to major changes.

  The world is changing in some sudden and unexpected ways.

  Marijuana - stuff that's been around for centuries and condemned. Illegal at the Federal level..... and then suddenly, states rebel and Dr. Oz and Gupta say it's OK.

  Gay Marriage .......oppose, oppose, oppose......and how does this affect me or hetero marriage? Suddenly the polls shift. It's OK.

  And all of sudden, we see all these changes announced in the Organization. They can't escape the world around them. Who knows?

  Privately, there are many elders who recognize what Magnum observes. Long before they encounter zero growth, they will encounter dependent, even cancerous growth.

  I think that's where they are now. More publishers but so what?

  could there be any sort of model for the watchtower to imitate in regard to its planned final structure?.

  is there any example out there of a church organization with a 'bishop' with absolute authority to appoint elders/pastors and that has good donation flow?.

  Would the Legal Dept. change the Organization piece-meal or would they move towards some successful model of a religion?

  Many of them at HQ might not even realize it, if some final structure/model was intended. Their consultants might just gravitate in a certain direction.

  While they may have been inspired by the Mormon family night, I can't see that the Watchtower can continue as an open hierarchy - they don't have the cash reserves or political help to maintain that.

  If we want to know more about where the current changes are headed, I think this train of thought might point the way.
