Frazzled ubm..I'm sorry but the reason why the Palestinian problem exists is because their own people told them to leave in 1948 because where they lived would be a battleground and that the Red Crescent would look after them with alternative housing in Tyre and other locations. When this "deadwood" was cleared out; as the abstentee landlords who owned their land viewed them; they were turned away...by their own people. When the so called 'glorious' Arab armies threw the Jews back into the sea then they were going to be allowed back into their land; which of course did not happen. Why? Because no Arab leader or leaders were going to cooperate together for the common good. You cannot blame Israel or any other entitiy for taking advantage of an inherent weekness. Oh and by the way I have read the Quran several times and respect and admire 'true' Arab culture; not the perversion it has so readily become. I'm sorry to say this but history has shown a very sad fact: In the absense of an outside enemy..Arabs will fight themselves.

Have You Ever Served as an Attendant? Share Your Stories!
by Funchback ini remember being a jw lad (about 10 or 11 years old).
i would be at the circuit assembly and, at around 10:45 am, about 8 brothers would get up, walk slowly up the aisle, glancing at each row of their "section", their lips quivering as they silently count each person, trying to maintain focus as nearly each jw makes eye contact them (even though everyone knew what the attendants were doing!
did i want to grow up to be the president of the united states?

I served as an attendant for many years. I didn't mind doing it. Had no problems counting; I would could all the empty seats before hand so I knew how many in my section and just counted the empties, then subtract, easy. Tried to tell other attendants but they thought I was nuts!! OOOOOOKKKK. I was trained well by the older dudes I worked under here in the Martitimes; didn't usually take things too crazy, although we did have to bend over backwards to please some goof ball CO now and again. I always tried to be helpful and if had to tell some folks to move from the door I would play the ' I don't really care, but someone's probably come by and mention to you to move to the side or whatever, just sayin.." then I would keep on going. For several years I did security for Auditing, so we were like the CIA...lol..no one was allowed to know where Auditing was or who worked there, so we came up "secret' code marks on the badges for those who did work there, no marks, you don't get in. But we were pretty cool about it, in fact swaggering down here got you in trouble.
One sis had a 'stroller' during the time when you weren't supposed to have one in the arena, so she got pretty steamed when another attendant mentioned it to her, so since I knew her I offered to help her out. One dear old sis fell when her hip broke so I helped her with first aid until the emts showed up. However one time I did have to be assertive when the fire alarm went off and some people just stood around talking and I had to tell them that the fire trucks were coming and welllllll you know how it goes. All in all I didn't mind being an attendant, some were power trip f sticks, I would tell them the Hitler youth was looking for recruits. Anyway thats all I have for now....wow I usually don't post this long...lol..
Have a great one everyone

Ensure that you dont appear to be Negative , Unhappy or Bitter
by stuckinarut2 injust a quick thought.... we know that the org loves to paint all those who fade or leave as "negative, bitter and unhappy"...because of course "the truth is the happiest way to live".
so, never allow ourselves to be that way when talking with witnesses, or family members still in.. show them that we are happy, our lives are fulfilled and positive.. then they have no ammunition.
also, it helps other doubters to see that there is life in the world beyond the org..

I have been experiencing 'preemptive' shunning for about three years now. When I do talk to jw I know I always try to appear positive and upbeat if I can; of course that's not always possible. However I try to not appear angry or anything like that if I can. One thing I do say in reply to 'we miss you' is nicely point out that they know my phone number and address; and I have never received any info regarding if they 'miss' me or not. Always said with a smile.

by thedog1 injust some thoughts on all the recent things going on.
i'm still recovering from the whole donation arrangement thing.
was speaking to some relatives who are also jw's and they don't really get what is going on but sense in some way that things are not right.

Wow....a study conductor. Good for you to have the bravery to post here. Would love to know what they have gotten you to write in the margins of your 'flock ' book. Have a great day and keep on plugging.

2014 summer conventions to have live video and audio feeds
by dropoffyourkeylee ini have heard from reliable source that this summer's conventions will feature video of various gb members as they speak and announce releases.
the regional (as opposed to the international conventions) will have numerous video monitors all around.
anyone else heard about this?.
-

Someone may have already mentioned this but it could be that the gb know more and more elders are showing signs of not really being in step and are assuming more control over proceedings. It also has the added value of everyone getting more face time with the gb. Technology really didn't allow that so much before and now they can change from their previous shadowy existance; of course that is a two edged sword..

An increase in security at this summer's conventions??
by gingerbread inwe've heard from friends in two separate congregations in our city that convention security will be tight.. the brothers made announcements this week and reminded everyone to be sure to wear their name badges.
those that don't may be questioned and have their belongings searched.
the same will be happen to anyone arriving during the sessions.

No one is allowed to search your things unless it's security hired by the building owners and with very strong probable cause or the police. No one has the legal right to search your or your things other wise.
