Shunned again today

as i walked through the streets of my hometown i walked past a 'sister'tm).

at first i didn't recognize her as i wasn't paying attention.. she sort of gave me a bit of a smile (or did she have wind/gas?).

after i has passed her, it dawned on me who it was.. i'd given her family lifts to meetings and socialised with them.. i then realized she'd shunned me.

I have been experiencing "preemptive" shunning. I have been inactive for about a year and a half; but went to the DA last summer. Most elders; unless having to make eye contact or unable to avoid me; would walk right on by. Some were close friends for decades. Today I was at one of the suppliers my company uses for electrical products and an elder from my hall was there picking something up. He saw me at the counter doing my thing and he almost came over; but you could see by his body language that he was thinking better of it. I find that since the word is out that I don't go to meetings any more that many of the r and f just walk on by too. However that's ok since most are ignorant self righteous.....well you get the picture.

On another note; I have been trying to start some threads of my own; have done so in the past but it seems that I can't; anyone have any ideas? Maybe I'm just missing something.

Watchtower Birthday Logic

the watchtower bases their opposition to birthdays by two scriptures, saying something bad happened and god must have put it in there for a reason.

following their logic are there any other things jws shouldnt do because bad things happened in a couple of scriptures?.

What about cats? The same bs logic can be applied to not having cats. I read that some time ago on another website, that Jw's should not own cats, used in Egyptian worship, associated with superstition and the occult...bla...bla...bla. The prohibition against birthdays and blood and all the other crap was Rutherford looking for any kind of publicity he could get.

Bobcat: you have a point regarding the Medo-Persian empire. The Persians certainly dominated the two of the group, yet the Medes did play their role as well. Certainly food for thought, and your comment regarding lines being blurred when we take in the global nature of our economy we do see a more comprehensive role for Britain their partnership. Thank you for sharing. I love studying history but have never had any formal training other than high school, though I have read many many books. Have a great day!!

I must agree with Blues Brother. The crux here is that did or did not an actual "Anglo American DUAL world power exist? I believe the evidence shows it did not. Britains hegemony had an begining and an end; America's began with the end of WW II. Mr Roberts article; as mentioned by Bobcat; does mention an Anglo American "Empire", however the article focuses on the US making the same mistakes that Great Britain did. It does not give evidence for a co ruling power with the United States. America cooperated with England when America was the weaker power, and now England does with the US now that it is the weaker power. This cooperation does not suggest equal coexisting rulership of the world. As Vidqun mentions: "...the UK follows closely at its(the US's) heels. The have a common purpose; on the surface; they have a "special relationship"; as Churchill said; but the are not now nor have ever been two powers ruling "equally" in a dual nature together.

Just my two cents worth. I must say that this discussion is terrific and I welcome and enjoy all of your views, and as Bobcat says" not to argue". Let's keep it going. Btw a great website for perspective is the History News Network..

Band on the Run: I agree with you that American society was initially based on the British model; even more so here in Canada. However do you mean by your post that there is or was an actual Anglo American Dual World Power? I believe I see in your writing evidence of the "cultural" sources of the relationship between the U.S. and Great Britain, but not for ruling the world together as a united power? Care to comment? Just a friendly exchange between two students of history.

India Buys New Fighter Jets from Russia

the wall street journal reports that india has again made a decision to buy 42 russian sukhoi su-30 mk1 fighter jets that will be assembled in india.

additionally india will buy 71 m--17 v-5 helicopters.

another deal was signed for russia to manufacture the ka and mi brand of helicopters in india .

Was just looking at the Daily Mail news from India. The IAF is training very heavily on their own; it cited an excercise with over 100 hundred aircraft; and also will be partciapating again in "Red Flag" at Nellis AFB in Nevada. I believe I must correct myself regarding the need for pilot training in India, if they are sending pilots to Nellis; home of the Fighter Weapons School, then they are advanced. Of course it did not mention that they were attending FWS but you can be sure they would exposed to some of the instructors and their advice. India wants a first class airforce and wants to know how to employ it.

Hamster bait: The most likely reason India has not developed it's own fighter weapons design and construction program instead of buying one from the Russians is that this purchase will come with a substantial fighter pilot training program. If this aircraft is truly mulit role then more than just "fighter tactics" are required. The Indians would have insisted on it and I should think the Russians would have offered it. In additon it is easier to adopt an already proven design than to come up with one; in the short term. We should also remember that Russia and China has signed military and energy agreements in the last few years and it is in India's interest to make sure they are with the other two most populous nations with interests in Asia. So Ignat is right about India just needs to be better militarily than Pakistan for the short term but also for the long term. What will be interesting is the U.S. response. They have been attempting to woo India ever since Russia and China signed their energy agreement, but it would seem on the surface that such attempts have not born much fruit. So much for the "foggy bottom " boys..

was a jw for 40 years.

stopped attending 2010...resigned officially in 2011. still a little shell shocked but beginning to feel much better now.

awesome revelation....people in the world are not all that bad.

I was in for about 40 yrs myself and have been fading for about 2 years. I would say I will have to resign sooner or later myself, but my spouse is still more or less in.
