Elders getting burnt up.
by biblexaminer inthe elders in this area are getting burned out.
i have overheard comments that demonstrate this, but in my dealings with them, i clearly see it.
they can't keep it straight.

I have been noticing this as well for the last several years. The ranks are not being filled as other elders die, get removed, or just step down. Those that do step up tend to be incompetent boobs or just skate along getting others to do their work for them. I have seen some real winners up on that platform. Now I'm not talking about being different; nor is there anything wrong in not having certain skills; but being an elder should have a stricter criteria. Now they are importing younger elders as fast as they can into the hall I used to attend, since the average age of the elders in that hall is at least 65. There is a definite brain drain, and the prohibition on higher education, and the change to the mid week 'school' isn't going to train anyone to improve anytime soon.

Janiece was my cousin. I was devastated when she died. I have only been on this site for a few years or so and was surprised to see a thread on it. I was looking up info on her brother and stumbled across this. Janiece was a wonderful person; we were close and shared the same views on many things. I am sure that she would be alive today under the current Watchtower flip flop guidelines regarding transfusions. A total joke. I remember clearly sitting in her parents house watching her father; now passed as well; crying his eyes out and recall feeling so powerless and grief stricken as well. The funeral was a real bad scene. I miss 'Jane' everyday, and feel outraged both at her brother; who is merely as pseudo intellectual self absorbed clown; who felt it more important to go to the movies than be with his grieving family; and the Watchtower and its complete pile of horse manure it calls a religion. -

The JW Elder Who Started All the Insanity that was bound to eventually start. This Elder Loves Trouble!
by ReligionOfHatred inin order to understand what is happening you have to start from the beginning of our saga.
about nine years ago a elder with asperger's syndrome found out my family member almost came to blows with our next door neighbor who is so successful, he probably makes $2 million a year net-income with all his businesses and investments.
the co-owner of the property got angry because our neighbor did not like certain breeds of dogs, the fact was he was mauled by the breed elder bucket-head owned and elder bucket-head refused to fix the fence and so his dog would continually show up on my neighbors front door harassing his little dogs and growl.. elder asperger's heard my dad and his friend talking about uncle bucket-head's near blows even though they were whisphering at book study, his ears are good when it comes to seeking out sin and finding ways to bring brothers before the elders.

How in blue blazes does some one with AS get appointed an elder in the first place? Not to be disrespectful to those living with the condition; but don't you think; at least on paper; compassion and empathy are a large part of the qualifications?

Cart Witnessing - Thrilling! Productive! Epic! Er.....um, well, not so much.....
by sir82 intalked with a pioneer recently, she was recounting her first experience with cart witnessing.. she brought the subject up, was going on & on & on & on about how wonderful the experience was, and how great, and how she enjoyed it so much, and it was so wonderful, and oh jehovah's blessing, and on and on and on...... a few questions to her revealed what really happened:.
-- a jw who owns a small restaurant in a strip mall allows jws to set up their cart outside his restaurant.
-- the restaurant is tucked pretty far out of the way, not prominent at all.

Remember street corner witnessing? Remember when the Kingdom Ministry suggested using spoken " slogans', to make it more than just standing like mannikins? What a giant waste of time. -

Imho I think that the brain drain on the peripheries of witnessdom; especially in NA; has finally taken full effect. Not many brothers are 'reaching out' to replace those older brothers who have been serving for decades. So good assembly speakers are becoming harder to find. Not to mention the attrition from others learning ttatt. Combine this with their need to have more control it only makes sense that video talks will increase more and more. Just wait till someone decides to hack them!!
Have a great one everybody

Gordon Lightfoot
by RAYZORBLADE inok, if you're a canuck, chances you know that gordon lightfoot is about right up there with ol' jehover!.
but if not, nevermind, but i have to admit, i have been a lifelong fan of: gordon lightfoot.. this evening, i took his 'greatest hits' and gave it a listen, and as expected, i was still enthralled with his lyrical genius, and playing abilities.. anyone a gordon lightfoot fan?.
just curious.. all your folks living along north america's "great lakes" keep in mind, next month is the 28th anniversary of the sinking of the "edmund fitzgerald".. that song, by gordon lightfoot is haunting from beginning to end (over 6 minutes).. i personally love: go-go girl in love, bitter green, canadian railway trilogy, sundown, race among the ruins, wreck of the edmund fitzgerald, and well i like just about every damn thing he ever did.. your contributions?

American Sniper - courage or cowardice?
by Simon inthe movie american sniper is breaking box office records and of course there is some irony that a movie about a sniper is released on martin luther king day (who was shot by one).. but of course there is a world of difference between an assassin and a military sniper ... or is there?.
some are making a big stink about it and claiming that "snipers are cowards".
it seems unfair to me.

While I have enjoyed Mr Moore's documentaries in the past and have found them informative; I do have to say that at times you can detect a certain slant in the language which annoys me. -

Starting to wonder if I need organised religion.
by quellycatface in.
i do suffer from bipolar and social anxiety, so sometimes i do withdraw into myself.. what do you think?
am i just being weird??.

bi polar, anxiety, and religion often do not mix. However if you try hard to keep perspective it can be helpful. I have major depression, and found the jw's to be very counter productive, and organized religion in general to be exploitve.
