  i'm quite new to this site, & have realised some members have a union jack symbol under their avatar.

  i don't.. could we have a "show of hands" from any uk members?

  What went wrong in your congregation?

  the target is converts.. why does it seem such an outrageous aim for a congregation to recruit new converts?.

  in my old congregation, the enthusiasm was there but the knocking on doors produced zero " baptisms" in my final years.. a) why so little interests?.

  b) was it the internet ?.

  Just to answer a few ?? Not that I feel the need. Spent 30+yrs explaining myself to JW's/non JW's family. I'm inactive now since April. Not an idle bum lol! Have an extremely paranoid personality, so need to tred carefully. I'm learning French. My moniker was the most impersonal I could come up with, but summed me up at the moment. In retrospect I can see it might come across as pretentious, but its not in my nature to be so. It literally was a "light bulb" application. I was listening to Leona Lewis's new song. And voila!!

  What woke you up?

  in march of 2014, i was a very active jw, a ministerial servant, gave a public talk, was an attendant for the memorial, and one of 4 cleaning captains for an international convention of 40,000+ attendees.

  so what woke me up?

  an innocent comment from a co-worker about the candice conti court case rang a bell that could not be unrung.

  Unkindness masquerading as virtue...

  ^^ this, I absolutely loathe unkindness. The hypocrisy. Some became so arrogant. They didn't even care it was glaringly obvious. Hearing from the platform we were an org. based on love, yeah right. Candace conte et al. Investigation by the UK charities comm. RAC and G Jackson's plus all the goon's testimonies. Absolute plonkers. I couldn't watch this RAC live stream because I wanted to pull their smug fat faces through the screen and rip their throats out -( and breathe!). Sorry, don't know what came over me.

  so when my mom died in 2007 the main thing that kept me from losing it was that i knew i would see her again in the earthly paradise that i read and sang about in the jw publications.

  i honestly fully believed in it.

  we were best friends and it was devastaing to lose her.

  @Beautiful mind- when I read your post at breakfast I felt as if I'd been punched in the abdo. The realisation of not believing came home to roost. Everyday I'm discovering that as I emerge from the rabbit hole, it's a scary world out there. Tho not as stressful as operating within the borginization. I'm having to reprogramme my thinking abilities. Try and undo 30+ years of drinking the kool aide.

  @Cofty. Thanks for the education. I find genetics fascinating. I'd like to say, I enjoyed your experience in Edinburgh with the cart robots. I used to do this on a weekly basis, and ........, well, words fail me!

  Hi all, nothing to report just now. Wanted to add name to list of those awakening. Been lurking for nearly a year. Also to say a huge thanks for making my journey tolerable. Bit wobbly and scared, but hey! Baby steps and all. You guys rock.
