My "best" friend (active JW) has just died

johnny santa cruz and i met around 1959 at a movie theater in fort worth, texas.. the purpose of that meeting was to create a fanclub for horror movie director william castle.

a week or so later, johnny stopped me as i was walking home from elementary school.. "hey--i think i know you.

weren't you at the william castle fanclub thing?".

just imagine the panic.disbelief.oh my god they were right.then you pee in your pants.what will l do?the plea for forgiveness.please let me through.l promise l''ll change.l didn;t mean what l said on that jw.com site.l was jokin.then you wake up it was only a dream.disbelief turns to relief.

but it could happen..

I'll take my chances with the "Big man upstairs" if and when A happens. Rather that than live my life full of despair and anxiety.

Berkshire Circuit (UK)

i'm hearing rumours of huge changes within the berkshire circuit here in the uk .

congregations being dispanded and kingdom halls closing down and being sold off.... official announcements within the next month apparently .

does anyone else have anymore info?.

I know lots who attend the KH in Farnborough. It's a beautiful converted cinema/theatre that houses 4 congns. 2 x up, 2x downstairs. I remarked a couple of years ago that this is prime location property, and I wondered how long they would be allowed to remain in it. Megga bucks to a property developer. They just looked at me. My younger daughter DA'd last month, so I've no way in finding out what's going down.

did any of us ever find real joy in being at the meetings?

did any of us ever finish a meeting and think "i feel so enriched"?

Funny, I'm in the " helped to deal with long periods of boredom" camp. I was asked by a prominent elder in our circuit if I enjoyed the meetings, and I said "No"! He just glared at me and never spoke to me again. It was over 25yrs he kept this up?

I absolutely hated assemblies. I used to wish I could die rather than attend. This introduced me to thinking about the state of death being preferable to everything connected with my life as a jw. You've guessed, I thought about being dead 24/7. But since I've faded I look forward to each new day, and have never wished myself dead in the last 6mnths. <mexican wave>.

I used to be friendly with a girl who grew up in the same street as the Krays. She used to go and buy Reggies fags. She was studying in the mid 80's. I had been baptized a few years. She was a riot.

I've done everything to do with wardrobes, drawers etc. I've read up on the Maria Kondo's approach and applied it. I threw out the last shoes and handbags associated with my life as a jdub. Its so liberating. So I don't have the luxury of using the sock drawer as an excuse lol. I'm just not going.

The eldubs gave up after 2 attempts to speak to me. They're frightened of my husband hee hee. He's a dour burly Scotsman. Even before they'd ever met him. Could count on one hand how many times met in all these years. They'd come to me and say " we're frightened of your husband"! I'd ask why?, since they didn't know him. They told me they had a picture in their heads of an Aberdeen Angus cow. OK. We've been together 43yrs, and a more balanced nicer guy you'd ever hope to meet. We all used to say he's more humble than the majority at the Kh.

Says a lot about how they judge. They must have projected their opinion of me onto my partner and ran with it. Lol!
