  i have been lurking for a few months now.

  the only reason that i have not posted until now is because of the paranoia that comes with being raised a jw.

  my current status in the congregation is irregular, reaching out for the office of inactive.

  I, too did my research the old-fashinoned way - before the advent of the Internet, only most of it was while I was in the Bethel libraries. I was raised a Dub, & was also determined not to use "apostate" materials to find out the truth about 607. Like you, I couldn't find any credible support for that date. That was to be the first crack in the dam, so to speak. Couple that with the weirdness that is Bethel, and I was well on my way out. I left in 1993, and it was the single best decision of my life!

  Again, a hearty welcome to the board - we all look forward to seeing more posts from the both of you. You'll like it here...

  i've known so many who have decided to abandon ship at either the age of 30 or either after 30 years of being baptized.

  its been a while since i read stephen r. covey's _the 7 habits of highly effective people_ and i do not feel like looking up the section i am getting ready to mention.

  but i think i recall covey talking about the unhealthy habit of becoming overly engrossed in one activity or pursuit.. it seems that there are individuals using this medium of communication whose life's aim is to "help" jws out of the "borg" or 'bring down the tower.

  if it tricks your trigger, i guess there is nothing anyone can do to prevent you from "helping" jws out of the "borg.

  Your right to do what you want ends when it endangers or damages the rights of others.

  JW's way of life endangers AND damages lives. That is all.

  So What Sort Of Dogs Are These?

  i took this pic last week on the family farm in bonnie scotland.

  her ladyship is busily munching on her toast and marmalade whilst 2 of the dogs watch and drool.. my question is this: both the dogs are top pedigree animals and weigh in at 140 pounds each.

  can you identify the breed?.

  Uh, I have to disagree with you on this, Amazing. The Supreme Court SELECTED W to be president, with help from the pressure tactics of the GOP. This was clearly evident throughout the whole process, and more recently, shown in the New York Times. They ran a front-page article about how "questionable" overseas ballots (postmarked past the election day deadline, mistakes in punching out chads, etc) were discarded if they were for Gore. Ballots found to have similar or even identical mistakes were counted, if the vote was for George W. Is that how the "prcoess" is supposd to work? I'd love to sit in on this civics class of yours! :)

  Thanks! I could NOT remember Theresa Graves' name for the life of me. I remember in the Afake! article about her, she said she had to quit doing the show, 'cause she told the producers she couldn't do the gun-toting, karate action stuff anymore, after becoming a JW. Wnder what ever happened to her?
